Nick is funny but not charismatic. When you lack that charisma, no matter how funny you are, there'll always be a small part of people where they don't want to laugh. I'm thinking about Andrew Dice Clay where he'd be hilarious but it made you feel a little strange.
Then there's the super rare comedian who is funny and charismatic. So they're being hilarious but it always feels like you're in on the joke too. Think of norm Macdonald. And while I don't think he's quite as funny as norm, that's the group Shane falls into.
Nick is one of the funniest people alive but it never really feels like you're "in on it"

the audio recording of Adam's mic made me legitimately think the speakers in my car were dying or picking up electrical interference.
Nick still has potential, and so does this show. It can coast for awhile with the big name guests but something has got to happen. A big missed opportunity during cumtown wasnt commissioning the animation channels. Saul still puts out clips frequently that get more views that TAFS clips. Idk man I’m gay. I hope my best friend Nick figures it out

God commissioning them would have been amazing, they put out great work and I discovered Cumtown through the clip channels and animations. It helps especially when you're looking at which of hundreds of episodes to watch.
The guests/interviews if anything are hurting the show. No one actually cares about the thoughts of any of those guests, and Nick's naturally excellent humor, which shines on a podcast (a podcast where it's not him just talking to Adam), gets incredibly diluted when filtered through the medium of Adam talking to some C-lister.

Went with my wife to see nick at helium in Philly earlier this year and some other guys who introduced themselves as comics sat at the table next to us
They asked us after if we liked his set like they were trying to gauge our reaction, and seemed shocked that we both had a great time lol

Nick drives me crazy. He was the most popular comedian on the internet and he pitty party-ed all his good will away trying to be a hermit. Shane is really a silver medalist who is winning Gold because the other guy decided in his head he wasn't any good and never went to the Olympics.

@@yeenar I agree with OP, Nick has potential to be the next comedic legend. I think Shane (even though he's hilarious) is a little too ready to buddy up to unfunny people/ scummy companies just to climb the ladder and make money. So I appreciate that Nick doesn't want anything to do with that, but I think he's gone a bit too far with it. Like he's guilty just for being liked at all.
Honestly I hope he gets over it (and maybe gets away from the super-lefty Chapo-type people who are all about shooting themselves in the foot to look "cool") and turns into the next Carlin or Louie-type figure. He really could. No one thinks like him.

Nick is pretty self aware. He's a smart guy. Average people might not like him because he doesn't have a gimmick or a schtick, but he's sharp and can carry a podcast or conversation. I imagine he's a comic's comic.

He'd probably be good at that, but apparently Matt Stone and Trey Parker almost always end up writing everything themselves. I remember Kenny Hotz saying he was a South Park writer for 2 years and the only joke that made it in was Cartman wanting Kyle's secret Jew gold
