Firstly, we’ll played France! Magnifique! A lot of harsh comments about individual players…I’m not sure we can blame anyone. The fly half argument seems to me to be a red herring. Ford, Farrell, Smith…they all have something to offer, but they can’t do much when the pack gets monstered in the loose. Brutal shock to see our back row completely annihilated. Sadly Dombrandt may not be a test player; I’m a Quins supporter, but even I can see that he is not able to physically make his mark at this level - perhaps he needs a totally dominant pack to then run his wide, angled lines. Probably sounds like perfect hindsight but I did imagine this type of scoreline this morning! Didn’t want to believe it of course. However, I’ve had deep concerns about the gap between premiership and international standard required these days. Honestly, Mako, Colely and George really do look past it…great past servants, but honestly! Slade has always lacked pace as has Farrell and frankly the amount of times we have kicked the ball in the red zone! Crazy! Where is the confidence, pace and ability to see space and use it? As JW said in commentary, hopefully this is a chance for a big review of the premiership and the pathway to international quality performance. If Ireland and France can do it, then we can. The whole of France and Eddy Jones are celebrating tonight. I think England did very well, they was most accommodating. Its not the winning but the taking part that matters. Isn't that right Steve.
I don't think there is any evidence Eddie Jones would have avoided the same. The England team he left was the worst in the Autumn Nations in almost every metric. I doubt he would have beaten Italy or Wales. Don't get me wrong Eddie was, and still is, an amazing coach. He will go down as one of the best and most innovative. But, the England team under him since 2019 only got worse. It happens to even the best coaches. But he wouldn't have somehow been able to turn around a team that his tactics and style were making worse.
Not that long ago The "XV de France" could hardly win any game. We had players we thought were good (they weren't That bad individually although probably not as great as the current extended squad, and most really tried their best). But it just never seemed to work. Those were harsh years for supporters like me and the tunnel seemed endless at times. England seems to be in a pretty similar spot right now. It sometimes doesn't take much to turn the table and I hope you'll find some keys to change that (not all, preferably :D. I'm still a supporter of Les Bleus) because a tournament or even a world cup with this sad version of England doesn't feel exactly the same. A positive note is that it was a "no card" game - and although one could consider that the Englishmen should have put a bit more effort even if risking a yellow or two, that's always a good thing according to me. No big injury, no real foul play, fifteen on fifteen. But I'm sure it's of little comfort to the English fans. As for me - after the aforementioned harsh years, and after years of being on alternative current (able to beat the Blacks then fall again Italy or Romania), I can't deny the pleasure to see a French squad playing this consistently good for so long. They're not invincible (Ireland showed it the previous game) but they're good most of the time, very good regularly and awesome on occasion. Good luck against Ireland (that would be a very good time for your boys to start their resurrection :D) and see you in the World Cup.
This is still too raw but my biggest take from this game is the sheer gulf in class between the world No.1 and 2 and the other nations. The accuracy, decisiveness and clinical nature of Ireland and France is what makes them the best. England were abject and embarrassingly woeful in the basics (discipline, handling and rucking etc.). Next week's challenge is rather simple - survive as long as possible in Dublin.
if what you're saying is true, then Ireland will thrash the living daylights out of Scotland tomorrow. destroy them. whilst that is entirely possible.. I dont see France or Ireland thrashing Australia or Argentina any time soon. very English-centric point of view.
I'm with you on the rawness of the result but I don't agree that France and Ireland are way clear of SA and NZ as I think you will find when they meet in the world cup but there is a big gap to the rest that's for sure.
@@neilcarpenter2669 Oh for sure, I should have specified that I was referring to mainly the home nations, yet Ireland are coming off the back of a first ever series win in NZ and France have olny lost once in the last 19 months...There will certainly be some colossal matches come the WC

To be fair, England had a lot of possessions but make too many basic errors. France plaid fine tho I don’t like much these sequences of systematic long kicks forward going nowhere but offering the ball to the opponent, thanks God they didn’t know what to do with them. Great france defense as expected. France knows how to carry the ball between the posts even from their baseline, it didn’t quite happen today. Ramos had a great match.
Ah man your face at the start just says it all, don't even need to watch the video 😂. Your channel's content is so good and fair it almost makes me root for England, if that's any consolation ;)
Congrats from Ireland to France fans, what a win. See you guys in the latter stages of the world cup hopefully. Commiserations to England fans. I'm sure it's no consolation to you at the moment, but I personally think the reality is Engand aren't as bad as the enevitable hyperbolic media/fan reaction to this result will suggest. For me they just caught a better team on one of those days where they just played out of their skin and every bounce went their way. There's still a lot of quality players in England. I'm not sure if Borthwick's dogmatic sticking to his plan A of essentially just using Steward to win a kicking battle and seeing what happens is the best use of them though.. Arundell for instance looks a huge talent, but I fear he doesn't fit into that particular plan and will be a peripheral figure during the Borthwick reign because it doesn't appear he has a plan b. The right coach will get more out of the players available, I just don't think Borthwick is the guy unfortunately.
England were poor but France were incredible absolutely incredible. This is why they are clear favourites for the World Cup at home this year. And closely followed by Ireland then South Africa I honestly had England in the mix but after this game I’m not sure.
You can’t play on the back foot which admittedly was down to France but we just couldn’t break the game line or clear out at the breakdown which is where it fell apart as our forwards were pedestrian weak tired and got knocked back every time then just giving penalties away.We we’re never in this because France are better and wanted it more.I think we’ve hit the lowest point which I think means England rugby really needs revamping at all levels.Well played France
Am French…yes, there was a huge gap between these 2 teams yesterday; however we also had our bad times…England rugby will go through times of turbulence for sure, but they ll bounce back…France changed their style with Galthie, England also needs to change their style as their game s kinda if stereotyped…but great teams never die….
Well.... at least we'll be spared the 'just 5 per cent off' cobblers now. Wilko was right - it needed to happen. There's no point fans and pundits quibbling about swapping out a couple of players - it is a systemic problem. A pressing question for me is why, with all England's resources, do we produce so little in the way of world class players? This team is arguably the best we have available. It was men against boys. France were magnificent. Ireland next week looks like a bit of a hump in the road too!!
I agree. I dont think England played badly they were just up against a team at another level. Most complete game of rugby by any team that i have ever seen. France were better than Ireland. Ireland could not handle that and Ireland are bloody good. it would be unfair to down grade the French performance because my team were bad.
Maybe the greatest game and play of france that i ve seen in 40 years...! PERFECT IN EVERY ASPECT OF THE GAME and at twickenham the home of rugby..and OUI i m french and so proud, and thank you eggchasers for your sportmanship, BEAUTIFUL ! chapeau ! 🎩
The thing is .France probably didn't play at full pelt.. just a training run out.. We are so bloody bereft of ideas and skill.. hopeless times.. world cup will be a short one.. probabl won't bother with the torture of it..
It was a gamble, why should we be surprised trying to bet against the odds. The French are a great team and have been for a couple of years this is the first outing for this group in this set up. Let’s take a scientific view on this experiments never fail they just give you information take it and move on . No knee jerk reaction of this is the last time we try so and so etc Take the lose, learn from it, move on
Vous pouvez être triste aujourd’hui mais vous vous relèverez je vous fait confiance pour ça les anglais ont toujours eu un tempérament de guerriers « La roue tourne » comme on dit en France 😊
Very interesting, honest, intelligent! Go to pub, i will pay the bill just to hear you speaking about rugby like that. The wheel spins... always. Maybe very soon! Do not forget to focus on Romain N'Tamack! He deserves...
Tough one to have to react to. Massive hammering by France. Hopefully England pull it back together for next weekend and give us a good match in Dublin.
There's no way that's happening. It's broken and will stay broken whilst anyone pretends it will somehow turn around. Ireland will trash England and hopefully it will start a process of examining all the factors of failure.
@@ecaeas4439 from an Irish Guy look if we trash England that's cool but at the same time if you offered me a 1 point win with 0 injuries i would take it right now because realistically there's nothing to gain by hammering a team from the Irish Perspective we want to secure our First Grandslam on Home Turf in 74 years
As a complete outsider (Irish fan), two things were noticeable about England. Firstly the tactics are limited at best, they belong to the south African team of 2007. Secondly, English back row, nine and centres are below international standard. I don't know the English league that well so are there better options in these positions? Also if England think there issue is at 10 then they have no chance of making the necessary improvements
I know a lot of chat will be around Smith but for me I thought this was the game that Slade can finally come out of his shell and highlight his talent and yet again for myself he wasn't there, I don't know why but for Exeter Slade looks fantastic but as of late looks completely invisible for England
I know it must be a difficult to an english fan tonight... But as a French fan try to understand this moment.... and you will quickly admit "yes it was coming" Forget the stats, 15 years of invincibility in Twickenham vs France.... Dupont and cie could have win it easily in 2021 or nations league with more Luck. France is slowly but surely testing their whole strategy and gameplan for the World Cup. It exploded tonight. England will be back through basics... When france wants to peak in september. What a great sport show it was in Twickenham.
Agreed. England forwards need to focus on how they attack the gainline (maybe be less directly confrontational, focus more on support, offloads, space and ball presentation (France and Ireland are so good at that) and resourcing rucks. The good thing is that the scrums and lineouts were not as dominant. So we can see that there were some areas where we weren't smashed. What little attack we had was pretty good when we got fast ball. The getting of it is the issue
Le réservoir de joueurs anglais est grand et beaucoup d'Anglais ont le rugby dans le sang comme de nombreux Français, je ne m'inquiète pas pour le rugby anglais qui doit restructurer ses clubs professionnels.
All France did was punish errors. We were next to Damian Lewis and he left with tens minutes to go. Borthwicks honeymoon period is over before it started. I turned up today thinking there was a chance England would win. Luckily I was wearing a beret.
Irish supporter here. Felt genuinely bad for England today watching that. From an English perspective, I thought the most disappointing thing was how much they were outworked. Fellas were getting to rucks an age before the French. And that's one of those things that doesn't require skill. France were of course very good but were made to look better because of that
I would have liked to see Smith (albeit heavily hampered by the conditions) given more time and responsibility to try and spark a Harlequin-esque second-half comeback instead of resorting to Farrell to helm what was ultimately a sinking ship. Mitchell showed instantly that his injection of pace and vision at the ruck could have provided the foundations for such a comeback, but by pushing Marcus one man out (again), simply rendered us hopeless of taking advantage of this opportunity. Ultimately, I don't see the benefit of this particulate substitution as I struggle to understand what exactly they will learn or gain from this? For me, it is an indication of a lack of confidence and trust in the players and their ability.
Ever consider that they respond and still get hammered? That’s it’s out of their power because no matter how up for it they are, they’re not good enough?
Lots of chat about smith and Farrell but I think it’s clear now that’s a bit of a sideshow. Our pack was humbled. Saw some stuff on England socials of the guys getting beasted by a brutal leg day in camp. Maybe they were beasted too much? Didn’t look sharp. I’d rather think they weren’t 100% fit than the only other logical alternative which is our pack is simply poor quality
Genge Sinkler and Itoje will never be dropped. Never. if they play world class or play like drains, they will always keep their place. England STILL cannot settle on a balanced backrow. how long has that been now?
hahaha yea when i heard what MOTD is doing I'm like are we supposed to be upset by that? because some of those pundits are fucking shocking unironically Tim i could see this backfiring it going so well people will demand it remain like that

I don't think I've seen a guy so depressed after a game. Well, it's rugby, sometimes you win, sometimes you lose. What I notice is that this match was exemplary not a single yellow or red card. Dignified and rule-abiding opponents. (I hope the commentator took a whiskey to console himself).
yea real brutal beat down in Twickenham I'm gonna be very blunt and honest here and ask was there any English fans who actually believed they stood a chance going into this match ? like from an Irish guy we can tell you first hand how fucking Tough France are as a team we really had our work cut out for us and had to fight to get those 4 trys defensively they are incredible anyway on to the next game
England are in a tricky place. They are not that bad at any aspect of the game, but they are not that good at any of them either. They get out powered by the power teams and out finessed by the finesse teams whilst not having the power to throttle the likes of Scotland the finesse to dance with the likes of France. The real worry must be that Ireland have both, next week may be ugly ...
i mean from an Irish guy like yea this was on their home Turf and now they have to travel to the Aviva stadium where most likely they will be going into a game against an Irish team looking for their first grand slam on Home turf in 74 years
@@DoddyIshamel yea that is true i mean if your a betting man even with home field Scotland are massive underdogs i know on any Sunday anything can happen but i think realistically Ireland will get the Win because we don't even have to win by 43 points all we need to do is win by a single point and if the French defense leaked 4 tries to us that's not a good Omen for Scotland anyway see how tomorrow goes
France a team approaching it's pinnacle of performance. England team starting their journey, or even worse, still on their way down. Outclassed and outmuscled. Willis, Dombrandt, JVP so so poor. They looked twice as fast as us.
France was just levels above! No matter who was selected! My only take is, as I’ve said before, seeing the best coach ( who’s English!!) stand with France, (and when Wales were super) ! Shaun Edwards!! Why the hell hasn’t the best coach in the world, who’s English, coached for his home country! Madness!!
@@powerbite92 First,he's not the head coach, just defense coach. Second, maybe you guys didn't respect him that much when he was working for you. Third ,he probably liked to train good players. First step to solve a problem is to recognize there is one.
We dont. We have 61% of players in the premiership on the field who are not eligible to play for England. Our club game is way off international form as was proved today. We have teams going under with more to follow.
France were ruthlessly excellent in the dark parts of the game. Dominated England physically and technically at the breakdown. But England were as bad as it gets at points - no more than 3-5 phases in them then. Structure breaks and they kick, not particularly well. The bad overkick from Smith for the easy mark being symptomatic.

Curry looked a class above everyone else in the England pack
Vive la France and thank you to this commentator for his honest and genuine love for rugby ... Thank you for being nice ti us French as-well as when prise is effective and call for, you seem to say it for what it is. Love you channel xox
My word. England were absolutely abysmal. Farrell v Smith isn't a debate when the structures around them are so bad.
The whole of France and Eddy Jones are celebrating tonight.
I think England did very well, they was most accommodating. Its not the winning but the taking part that matters. Isn't that right Steve.
History was made today.
Just make it stop! That is what i thinking.
Pretty sure this is the hole Eddie dug
Thought the same. Fascinated to see France/Ireland come up against NZ and SA. They're the only teams vaguely in a similar class at this point.
Thanks 😅
Well considered message. Thanks
You need to adapt your styles of play against different teams. France do not kick to them.
time will tell.
England were poor but France were incredible absolutely incredible. This is why they are clear favourites for the World Cup at home this year. And closely followed by Ireland then South Africa I honestly had England in the mix but after this game I’m not sure.
I'm french and I believe that ireland is favoritz in thos world cup because there are very solid but with this french team evrythi'g can happen
Not surprising when our schools are teaching children there are no losers. Everyone’s a winner 😅
Sad for our English friends but they will know how to bounce back, rugby will always need a nice team from England,
Thanks but we have problems in our club game to sort out so it might take some time.
Is Flament their number 4 he was outstanding, couldn’t believe he wasn’t man of the match.
I just want to cry, Tim.
Hold me, mate.
🤣
We will be back but not for a few years....
France were brilliant
PERFECT IN EVERY ASPECT OF THE GAME and at twickenham the home of rugby..and OUI
i m french and so proud, and thank you eggchasers for your sportmanship, BEAUTIFUL ! chapeau ! 🎩
So, that means you never saw the semifinal AB-France world cup 1999.
No knee jerk reaction of this is the last time we try so and so etc
Take the lose, learn from it, move on
I can't believe what I witnessed today. I was over the moon!
France were incredible.
Vous pouvez être triste aujourd’hui mais vous vous relèverez je vous fait confiance pour ça les anglais ont toujours eu un tempérament de guerriers
« La roue tourne » comme on dit en France 😊
Very interesting, honest, intelligent!
Go to pub, i will pay the bill just to hear you speaking about rugby like that.
The wheel spins... always. Maybe very soon!
Do not forget to focus on Romain N'Tamack! He deserves...
Brave of you to do this. Honestly I would be in hiding.
Maco and Dan Cole coming on 😂😂😂🤦♂️
Tough one to have to react to. Massive hammering by France.
Hopefully England pull it back together for next weekend and give us a good match in Dublin.
I hope we can at least make it interesting for you!
There's no way that's happening. It's broken and will stay broken whilst anyone pretends it will somehow turn around. Ireland will trash England and hopefully it will start a process of examining all the factors of failure.
@@ecaeas4439 from an Irish Guy look if we trash England that's cool but at the same time if you offered me a 1 point win with 0 injuries i would take it right now because realistically there's nothing to gain by hammering a team from the Irish Perspective we want to secure our First Grandslam on Home Turf in 74 years
Grand slam eh ? You know there’s a game tomorrow, right ?
No chance... Put your reserves out mate.. give em a run out. 40 pointer.
Nailed it. We put all our attention on the areas that dont matter and ignore those that do
I know a lot of chat will be around Smith but for me I thought this was the game that Slade can finally come out of his shell and highlight his talent and yet again for myself he wasn't there, I don't know why but for Exeter Slade looks fantastic but as of late looks completely invisible for England
I read your comment and I had to Google to see if he was playing. He was invisible.
I know it must be a difficult to an english fan tonight... But as a French fan try to understand this moment.... and you will quickly admit "yes it was coming"
Forget the stats, 15 years of invincibility in Twickenham vs France.... Dupont and cie could have win it easily in 2021 or nations league with more Luck. France is slowly but surely testing their whole strategy and gameplan for the World Cup. It exploded tonight. England will be back through basics... When france wants to peak in september. What a great sport show it was in Twickenham.
Game was lost upfront, when the backs had a platform, led by Mitchell we saw what eng could do.
This should be a turning point. Either not good enough or past it. English premiership just not the standard they think it is.
my god... crushed, rolled on all sides, what an humiliation.
Maggie Thatcher your boys took one hell of a beating...!!!! 😂😂
Quel pied ! 😁🐓👍
very sad to see the English team today, hope for the best next week but ...
Bring back, Eddie Jones on improved contract.
Premiership doesn’t create international players. We need a massive overhaul of the English system. We can’t compete at the break down.
Irish supporter here. Felt genuinely bad for England today watching that. From an English perspective, I thought the most disappointing thing was how much they were outworked. Fellas were getting to rucks an age before the French. And that's one of those things that doesn't require skill. France were of course very good but were made to look better because of that
Don’t. They wouldn’t feel bad for anyone else.
@@Dreyno ah c'mon buddy....take your issues elsewhere

@@Dreyno You know all English fans do you?
@@dulls8475 I’ve met enough. Bad losers and worse winners.
Haha, you're as deluded as Borthwick.
agreed.

So do England get a bounce and a reaction for next week? Or do they cop another result like this again? I’m thinking they respond
Another 50 point defeat mate.
Ever consider that they respond and still get hammered? That’s it’s out of their power because no matter how up for it they are, they’re not good enough?
I think our effort is not the problem Our overall talent is.
Does Englands last 2 6N final positions put into question the quality of the English Premiership?
Hard day in the office for English fans ..
big gap in class ..
no game plan from England.
Roll on next week to Dublin .
🙈 having nightmares in advance
Puts Ireland’s bonus point win over France into some context.
true!
Sinckler is just poor and is constantly being smashed in the breakdowns.Time to try players breaking through
Highlights the state of English media bullshit vs reality. Absolute privilege to watch these players. Well played Sean Edwards 😂😂
We were hosed by the end of the first half. The French were a joy to watch!
Some of the media, generalisations dont do you any good. Read more.
Borthwick and his appointers have succeeded in rinsing any remaining credibility in modern English rugby.
Needing a cup of tea after a defeat is so a english things to do.
Hahaha. Glad to keep the stereotype alive

France have gone up a level today. Be happy you're playing England next week, and not France
France weren't that great against Scotland.
Nope always knew we’d lose but not hammered but sometimes you need this kick in the guts to come back better
No I didn't, not really. But France were way, way better today than in Dublin mate.
@@rob.1 ahahaha some fighting talk we'll see how that goes in France later this year
England are in a tricky place.

@powerbite92 Probably, I bet we have a better go than Italy or England though.
France a team approaching it's pinnacle of performance. England team starting their journey, or even worse, still on their way down.
Outclassed and outmuscled. Willis, Dombrandt, JVP so so poor. They looked twice as fast as us.
