The song before this one is a Chopin revolutionary etude, played by Miyako, and actually it’s supposed to be the intro to “Swan song”. For more piano and nice vocals by Asami, I suggest “Empty daydream”, “Epilogue”, “Edge of the world” and “Liar” (all live). Asami has a R&B, soul, jazz background, before joining Lovebites. Actually piano is Miyako’s first instrument, taking lessons since age 3, and started learning guitar at 18.
They have never toured the USA; however, early last year, at USA NAMM 2020, Miyako and Midori perfomed but at separate booths; this was the second time for Miyako and the first one for Midori. Also the Japanese rock bands “Aldious” (all-female) and D_Drive performed at the same event. The latter is an excellent instrumental band and is sponsored by Marshall amplification.
By the way, one of the best Lovebites presentations was at Wacken, 2018; unfortunately the full video is no longer available on RUclips but the sound and picture quality is astounding. However, recently some reactors are watching “Above the Black Sea”, as long as it’s not taken down.

Yes the singer, Asami, does have a background as a ballet dancer and she showcases some of her ballet chops in this song. Take a look at the end of the song when Miyako takes to the piano. The camera focuses, understandably, on Miyako but it's a bit of a shame because we only see a glimpse of Asami's closing performance where she dances elements of "The Dying Swan". This was the ballet piece first choreographed by Mikhail Fokine to the music of Camille Saint-Saens "The Swan (Le Cygne) for legendary ballerina Anna Pavlova in 1905. Pavlova performed the dance over 4,000 times in her career and it has since become incorporated into many interpretations of Tchaikovsky's "Swan Lake". We catch a glimpse of Asami expiring gracefully in front of the drums at the end of the song. It would have been nice to see the whole thing. I often think that Asami's dancing talents are frequently overlooked which I suppose you can understand given how they are often buried beneath the virtuosity of the music. Nevertheless they are an integral part of the Lovebites performance spectacle and I am excited to see the new live DVD coming out in September since it appears from the trailer that she gets a whole spotlighted dance sequence to show her beauty and grace.

Miyako, a pianist for 28 years of her thirty-one years, a guitarist for 13 years. How good will she be when she has played guitar as long as the piano ? In an interview she called her Yamaha baby grand piano her best buddy and that it has made her who she is today.

I'm someone who likes metal music for quite a long time.
But this is the first time I really like metal music that is so beautiful, and that's from Lovebites.
I've never been able to like a girl band before. Especially a metal band with a beautiful appearance and like a Sailor Moon.
But Lovebites changed all that. I love them completely. Anyway, in my country, Indonesia 🇮🇩, Sailor Moon is also a pretty famous anime when I was little.
Thank you very much for reacting to the song from Lovebites. Now i'm subscribe!
I'm very enjoyed with your reaction, especially when you explain about the voice of the singer Lovebites.
And by the way, Miyako, one of the guitarists with black hair, is also a classical piano master.
Next song, try their song called "Edge of the world"
Stay safe and keep on lovebitten!🤘

Yes, Asami studied ballet for two years in the U.S. Like all of them, she is a polymath--plays piano too. Also, yes, all but the drummer occasionally sing harmonies. Too bad you didn't get the version with the Chopin Etude as the prelude--though I guess it also preserves the surprise to the end. Miyako is a world-class classical pianist, as some of us noted in earlier comments. Since you are classical trained, it will be worth watching that clip on your own time even if you don't do a reaction!

    LOVEBITES - Swan Song lyrics:
If this was the last day you could live on this earth
Would you still go on, accusing someone for today
It’s better to fail than not do anything at all
It is not the length, but depth of life that counts
    Oh brave soldier
    Oh gallant warrior
Valor to those who died in battle to Valhalla
    Believe what’s in your soul
For death will come to all
You shall rest peacefully in God’s Heaven
    Floating lotus
    You are so graceful
    Saintly and glorious
    Till the end of time
    Floating lotus
    You are so beautiful
    Sing me your sweet song
    The legend of the swan
If you’ve never hoped, you’ve never been though despair
Ignorance is bliss, it’s easier to not care
You might think it’s meaningless to sacrifice a life
Sometimes the life of one can save so many more
    Oh brave soldier
    Oh gallant warrior
Valor to those who died in battle to Valhalla
    Believe what’s in your soul
For death will come to all
You shall rest peacefully in God’s Heaven
    Floating lotus
    You are so graceful
    Saintly and glorious
    Till the end of time
    Floating lotus
    You are so beautiful

Miyako can even play piano and guitar at the same time .... hahaha .... !!!! 😁 that is really a tough exercise! 😃 Midori (your favorite) can also play piano on a higher level, not on Miyako's level but very well, Asami as well, Miho probably as well, just as you can use it for songwriting. Miyako was a little excited about this white fake grand piano, optically nice, but the plastic keys !!!!. Victor Entertainment reacted and put a real black grand piano in place for the new concert (it's a lot more effort, especially for the live sound), you could say an exaggeration, but Miyako plays clearly at a high professional level, so I mean it has to be! Great Reaction

Re. the guitarists: first, they were hand-picked (mostly by Miho, the bassist and band founder) for musical capability first and foremost. How do we know? Because you could audition 50,000 beautiful girls for a band and still not find five this good. Second, that guitar technique is called "tapping" and was popularized by early metal guitarists like Eddie van Halen. Miyako is one of the world's best at it.

If you ever get to get a copy of this live show called "Five of a Kind", there is a behind the scenes before the concert. As they are preparing, Asami is doing some breathing exercise through a straw and I found that interesting. I guess it must be something she does or if she was taught that, I really don't know. Being at a loss for words is the default position for a Lovebites reaction, especially when they see just how talented Miyako is. She wrote the music and arranged it too. I suggest “Empty Daydream” as the best example of their vocal harmonies. There is an excellent version from Zepp Diver City, but 2019, not 2020. Finally, Asami was ballet trained prior to becoming a singer. glad you can hold yourself back from going through their entire catalog. it must be very hard considering how much you appreciate the musicianship and of course asami's vocals. just do a couple a week - or more if you want to - and you will have a month or more of ecstasy to look forward to. and something happened from 7:25 to 9:33 . your screen stayed black and the sound just about went out . and i can't think of another song where silence is my favorite part but that dead stop at 10:31 for a second where asami kind of flips her dress up just gets me every time. beautiful

They have not yet toured the US. Most of these Japanese bands seem to tour Europe more, or at least start out touring Europe as it seems to be the larger and more dynamic market for metal these days. The US seems a lot more hip hop and pop focused now.
But you are so right about the Japanese metal scene. It's ridiculously good. You should definitely visit Japan as soon as you can. But some Japanese bands you should definitely check out are Aldious. Try their song "we are". And for sure Nemophila....really anything by them.

I found this PoV quite interesting, but am not sure how much is true on that and how much is in the end only the industrie. But of course in general symphonic/prog rock was never a big thing in the US.
      rockandrollgarage.com/when-guitarist-ritchie-blackmore-gave-his-opinion-about-queen/
“Because in America i’ve noticed they like the basic chord stuff, they like the Blues stuff, they like the three chord stuff, which it would be like a Stevie Ray Vaughan. With Queen you’ve have probably 25 chords and a lot of changes. I’ve noticed the American market doesn’t usually go for that. But i’m surprised that they made it so big over here (In United States) and for that was a nice release.”

@@beldin2987 Just a bit, ah, exaggerated I'd have to say. Yes, the blues has had a huge influence on American rock, but you can say the same about the UK (Led Zeppelin, anyone? Rolling Stones? etc etc). Stevie Ray Vaughn had a following, but not a huge one. Fleetwood Mac (blues version) moved to the US, took on Stevie Nicks, turned into an icky pop band and became enormous. Jefferson Airplane (fine psych band) turned into Jefferson Starship (icky pop band) and became enormous. So to make a point, the bands that get really enormous in the US tend to be a bit more on the icky pop side than the blues or 3-chord rock bands.

    • @Sabundy
      @Sabundy 3 года назад

@@beldin2987 well....I'm basing it on the trends and music tastes that seem to be predominant in the US these days. Particularly in the mainstream. And let's be bluntly honest.....it sure as hell isn't metal. And I would say even hard rock is out of the US mainstream. Outside of the big legacy bands.....what hard rock or metal band gets a lot of exposure or draws big crowds in the US? Come to think of it can you even name a single genuine rock star, or guitar hero from the US from the last decade....decade and a half? I can't. All you see and hear about when it comes to the US is hip hop, and pop (and the modern pop uses a lot of hip hop elements anyway). All the biggest Rock and Metal festivals are in Europe or elsewhere (Download, Wacken, Rock Am, Rock in Rio etc .), and the best bands these days are coming from places like Northern Europe, Japan etc......
Not saying they won't or shouldn't tour the US or anything like that. It's still a sizable market for heavy music. All I'm saying is that given current trends I'm not surprised that these Japanese bands are mostly heading over to Europe first to build a fan base. Seems like just more opportunities for them in that regard in Europe.

@@Sabundy Yeah, i mean when i think about rock from the US its bands like Grateful Dead (saw them live 84) and Jefferson Airplane and stuff like that, and then somewhere in the 80s it also ends.
In the late 90s i also heared a while Lana Lane but i have the feeling she is also unknown in her own country, since her live concerts were mostly from Japan .. lol.
Oh .. of course there is also still heart, but there best time was in the end also in the 70s and 80s.
And the worst of all is, that even pop singers that really can sing mostly these days only sing bland hip-hop songs where it seems they can't sing. Just look at 90s Mariah vs. what she did in the 2000s with Rainbow, where i stopped caring about her.
If i now want to hear pop where somebody really sing great ballads and show all of her voice and emotion i listen to Morissette Amon.
Or many people say that Ariana is so great, but to be honest, i only saw her once in a late night show showing what she can, but all of her songs i checked so far on RUclips are just boring trash. Even the "Don't dream its over" cover with Miley is better, but of course Miley slays her there 😄
Btw. Miley .. why don't she do more in the style of this :
      ruclips.net/video/AxZl2cFvjRs/видео.html
worlds better than all her studio stuff.

About the last vocal part of Holy War, Miyako asks Asami if she can keep the high tone for a long time by singing upwards. Asami replies that no effect on it, just she feels like it.

Thanks for the reaction! It is advisable to watch the "Swan Song" together with "F.Chopin's Etude Op.10, No. 12". At the concert, these two compositions go one after the other and it makes a lot of sense, the Etude is a prelude to the Swan Song. In addition, the performance of a classical piece demonstrates Miyako's skill as a professional pianist.
P.S.Before picking up the guitar for the first time (at the age of 18), Miyako played the piano for 15 years.🐺
