    Edmonton has 4 ski hills within the city limits. Kayaking, beaches on the river, and an amazing trail system both paved and not. Great for hiking or biking.

      The only thing Edmonton has on Calgary is the Oilers lol. Edmonton to Jasper is 4 hours. Calgary to Jasper is only 40 minutes longer. Not to mention Calgary to Banff being a hour compared to 4 from Edmonton. In terms of things to do and accessibility Calgary wins everyday.

    I love Calgary, lived here most of my life but I did live in Edmonton for a few years. Nothing wrong with Edmonton. It’s so much cheaper to live there, that’s a huge plus. Calgary has my heart though.

    Very Calgary based view, have lived in both cities, Edmonton has a great sense of community, charitable giving and volunteer engagement amazing, arts, culture, festivals in Edmonton. Edmonton has trees and an amazing river valley, lakes in the area, better weather April to November and rarely hail storms, more to do in the city in winter months including WEM, iconic world known Oilers franchise does Calgary still have a team or did all the players leave? Suburbs and acreage living around Edmonton. Is St. Albert the nicest city in Alberta? Both great cities, move to Calgary, we are happy with the amazing quality of life, affordability and sense of community in Edmonton.

    Edmonton wins for me. Yes it might be colder and traffics worse but by the time I get out to Calgary it will be too expensive. If I lived in Edmonton I could at least afford a yearly holiday if I wanted. Calgary prices in a few years time will be too expensive.

    I lived in Winnipeg, Edmonton and Calgary. Winnipeg and Edmonton are very similar. Calgary you don’t have to be bothered by the ‘hey buddy, got a quarter club’ while you’re walking downtown.

  • @eskimocheeks9911
    @eskimocheeks9911 2 месяца назад +2

    Always looking for reasons to choose Edmonton over Calgary. Calgary is more cleaner, seems friendlier, less rough. Edmonton feels like the exact same town copy and pasted and quartered up into 4 sections.
    I will say though, as somebody who does rotational work, having the affordability of living in Edmonton means you get to take holidays like all the time and it's not breaking your wallet like it would living in Calgary.
    Another plus living in Edmonton, it's closer to more lakes to go fishing and such. Sure, Calgary has the rockies, but you aren't going to take your boat there. Edmonton you can at least half justify owning your own boat and taking it places that are somewhat near by. Sylvan Lake, Lac La Biche, Slave Lake, etc.
    Edmonton area feels much less touristy, and that means a lot less people crowding up the things that Edmonton and the surrounding areas does have to offer. Banff and all that is nice, but when it starts to feel as packed as New Dehli, is it really enjoyable anymore?
    There's no doubt Calgary is the more preferable city to live in, but thank god it's not the only place in Alberta. Plus it's kind of weird that it doesn't have any trees around.

    It is not true that Edmonton's international airport is out in some farmer's field. It is in Nisku, a location at the southern limits if Edmonton and the northern limits of Leduc. There's nothing rural about it unless its being compared to Hong Kong's airport.

      @@ryangillardrealtor hmm you " get what you pay for".. ..so tell me what can you get in Calgary that you CAN'T get in Edmonton? So it takes a bit longer to get to the mountains, bottom line is I can enjoy the mountains anytime. So basically there is nothing that you have pointed out that prevents Edmontonians from having access to or enjoying the cultural aspects BOTH cities have to offer. Ultimately if the cost of housing continues to separate from the average cost in Edmonton $250k plus dollars in your pocket can buy one a whole lot of wants.
