    Thank you, Staci, for modeling a gentle approach to making mistakes like knitting with the yarn tail.
    Too many of us get all worked up and frustrated or impatient with ourselves, instead of seeing the mistake and simply laughing and reworking it.
    I love your giving a demo of the flexible double pointed needles. I plan to purchase a set for my future sock knitting.
    Blessings!

    This pick a toe & heel series is a brilliant concept. It is really cool that there are so many ways to knit a sock. The pinhole cast on was a new technique to me. It took several attempts, but I finally got it. I ktbl those yo’s & my rounded toe looks great! I knit both my toes separately then put them on a long circular for knitting two at a time socks (a technique I also learned from you). Use of a yarn that stands on it’s own really does makes sense. I’m using Regia Design Line by Arne & Carlos…Gorgeous! Thank you for what you do Staci. We Knitter’s appreciate you! Now onward to the afterthought heel…

    I've made like 60 (literally) pairs of socks, all with afterthought heel, which I love. I got the original pattern from a crocheted sock pattern and adapted it to knitting. Most sock patterns I've seen don't use the afterthought heel, and also seem to focus on patterned knitting. I, too, love knitting straightforward stockinette with self-striping yarns and customizing the heel and toe (the leftovers of a contrasting ball of sock yarn, striped or not, works beautifully here). I'll have to try the barn toe. Great video!!

      @Starfire Horizon I already crocheted a few pairs of gloves and never got the second piece syndrome even though I always had to do a custom number stitches and had to calculate everything. I really don't like jumping from one piece to the other of one pair since it causes a lot of confusion and requires more attention to where I'm in the pattern.

    Hello! Question: when you did the toe and did yarn over, did you knit through the back loop of the yarn over? If not, how did you not have a hole as in lacey patterns? I normally do Turkish cast on but wanted to try this because I like the rounded toe.

    • @verypinkknits
      @verypinkknits  Год назад

      You can knit through the back loop to tighten it up a little, or you can substitute a different increase, if you prefer. The YO does leave a little a tiny hole - not enough for your toes to get cold, just a decorative line of increases. Not enough to be "lacy".

      I don't think it makes much of a difference, fit-wise, between narrow or wide feet. This heel is a great fit for most people, but not if you have an especially high arch. Yes, but it depends on what your gauge is to begin with. :) In the gauge listed in the pattern, the sock will fit a medium-width foot. Using a larger needle to get a looser gauge will give you a wider sock, allowing you to knit the pattern as written with no alterations. Hope that helps.

    Question: the increases along the sides of the toe - do they HAVE to be yarn-overs? Or is it mostly a cosmetic choice? My favourite increase is kfb (I like the look and I like knitting it). Would this work, too?
