    The viscose cotton lawn would make a great tailored shirt that you could wear open with a camosole in a solid colour from the shirt. And that would look chic with jeans!

    The fabric does feel lovely and I have never used that fabric base before either, but I am really not sure of the colour/design from a distance, it sort of looks grey and black.
    The pink double gauze is gorgeous. I am going to make a Maison Fauve top, they have a few that take around a metre. My to make list is massive though and I am suffering paralysis because of it. I need to stop wasting time and just start on something.
    Shortbread is my fav biscuits, so mine have gone. I made sure I ate them in private so my daughter didn't see them and pinch one - mean and nasty mum that I am 😂. They are a little crispy but taste lovely.
    I am glad you enjoyed legoland. We used to live around an hour away from it and when my daughter was little, we used to pop down a few times a year. I was a single mum and sometimes used to wake on a Sunday morning and just decide to go. I hate rides though, so was so happy when she could go on rides on her own, although then we always took a friend so she had a pal with her. I took a book! We were very lucky.

    • @theyorkshiresewgirl
      @theyorkshiresewgirl  4 месяца назад +1

      I know what you mean about the paralysis. How about writing down each plan on a piece of paper. Popping them in a bowl and then pulling one out? Then when that one is done you could do the same thing til they’ve all gone 😊

    I used to live in Windsor - in 1983! We spent 12 months in the UK and lived there with my stepfather's mum who had just been diagnosed with breast cancer (for the first time). I love how you are talking about bursts of colour etc. I've just been offered some work and the uniform is BLACK! So I think I'll be watching more of your videos just to have colour in my life😂. It's at a child care centre (it's what I did before I had my own children 22 years ago) and I'll be one of the many qualified carers. So I'm thinking colourful scrunchies and headbands might break up the boring at bit and maybe as we're heading into winter, when it finally gets cold enough, I could wear a colourful cardigan or something. I love the fabric in the box and isn't that coaster so cute! Not sure on the pattern though but if you feel comfortable wearing patterned pants, that'd be awesome.

    Oh I’m so tempted to try a subscription box, but controversially I don’t have a fabric stash and only buy fabric when I am ready to sew (think the kids use all the storage space in the house 😂). But I can imagine the main fabric you got as a beautiful lining for a blazer style jacket in a tweed with matching colour stripe in it, or in a dark wool winter coat for a splash of something special when it’s open. 😊

      @theyorkshiresewgirl  4 месяца назад

    You make it worthwhile to watch an unboxing because of your positive happy personality ☺️ So I completely understand that Hailey has picked you as an ”ambassadore” for her subscription. The main fabric is very beautiful, quite ”libertyesque” but as you say it would probably work best as a pair of wide legged trousers for you. The mustard yellow in the pattern would look good in a top on you, proper autumn 🌼

    Hi! I know what you mean about the subscription boxes piling up! 😁 Your plan sounds so ambitious, and I'm sure you'll have great fun with it!!
    I get a subscription box (US) and we can skip whenever we want to. I'm getting a lot better about choosing which ones I want, but I still had a good-sized stack. This year, I'm implementing a "plan", one month at a time, to sew up two projects and use up one box. I don't eat the treat until I've completed the project, either 🙃 I'm 4 for 4 this year so far, and working on #5 right now. It's a great feeling to see the stack actually going down! 🥰💪 Have fun with yours, I'm looking forward to your progress reports! 😘

    What an amazing coincidence! I literally JUST watched your double gauze vlog from two years ago because I have a couple of pieces and I'm scared stiff of it! I've heard it 's really tricky to work with, it frays, it shrinks, it grows....but your tips on using it were very reassuring, Ruan. Then I switched to today's vlog and you got some double gauze in your SHJ box! Synchronicity! Serendipity! Coincience! Fortuosity! And woo hoo! I definitely fancy some of the pattern suggestions on the double gauze vlog so thanks for giving me the proverbial kick up the you-know-what!

    I always try to make mine up right away, but sometimes I get stuck on what to make since it may be out of my comfort zone. It sometimes needs to speak to me 😂. I think the palazzo pants would be great! I love the fabrics because of the quality but the colors or print may not be “me”. However, I usually get so many compliments on what I make AND I love the feel of the fabric. So, I dont let it sit too long! I feel so good wearing it!

      Oh no. Really? I absolutely LOVED the look of the luxury box this month. And that pattern looked fab too. I suppose that’s always the risk with subscription boxes. We all have very different tastes. There have been a couple of fabrics that haven’t really been my favourite in past boxes but have actually turned out to be my most worn items when I’ve sewn the fabric up! PS. Such a shame we can’t swap!

    I love your green dress, the finish on it looks so well stitched 👌 and the colour looks fab on you. 💚

  • @ruthlanwarne8978
    @ruthlanwarne8978 5 месяцев назад

    Lovely unboxing Ruan. Would the double gauze go with the main fabric as a top to Safira pants? Do you have any suggestions for a top pattern to make with one metre of double gauze as I have 2 pieces I really want to make but wanted a sleeve of some kind as I feel the cold.
    I think the main fabric does suit you but as you say not enough for a Reeta dress. There probably lots of big 6 patterns for dresses as they use less fabric than indie ones usually. I’m away at the moment but have a nice drawstring pattern at home but don’t have the number with me. It is just below the knee but could be lengthened of course. 😊

    • @theyorkshiresewgirl
      @theyorkshiresewgirl  4 месяца назад

      Ooh you might be able to get a sagebrush top out of a metre if you don’t cut the binding on the bias (which would probably be fine with double gauze). I’m sure Liz from The Baker That Sews did that. You may also be able to get the square neck top from Friday Pattern Co out of a metre too maybe 🤔
