Every time I watch this video I cannot help but laugh at Jisko and Dadski's sparring at the end. Great video and great review of the training Polish Sabre.
Great video on the Polish saber👍 Subscribed. P.S. There is a great docudrama on the history of the Polish saber called "Born for the Saber" and it's about the cross cutting art practised by noblemen of the Polish-Lithuanian Commonwealth. This unique fencing style was very efficient and deadly on the battlefield. Also, if you haven't already seen it, I recommend watching "The Deluge" (Potop) historical drama set in the 17th century Poland facing an invasion of a vast Swedish army. The movie was shot in 1974 but it was very well made and featured one of the most iconic saber duels in the Polish cinematography, i.e. Kmicic vs lieutenant Wolodyjowski.
Thank you my friend! I bought Born for Saber on vimeo, absolutely love it and hope to travel and learn from those guys after covid. The Born for Saber FB page is good as it links to their website and instagram. They discussed production of an online course on Polish saber too. I have the entire trilogy on bluray, and while Potop is an absolute masterpiece, I like Pan Wolodyjowski a little better. My daughter and I were trying our best to pay homage to the great duel scene for Potop... well as best as we could in one afternoon lol.
@@jiskodadski3208 Well done to both of you - great reenactment of the famous scene👍👏 Yes, I love the whole trilogy too. Wołodyjowski was at the end of the day the first saber in Poland. Great acting by Tadeusz Łomnicki. I hope you manage to visit Poland when travel restrictions are loosened up a bit. The cross cutting art is really fascinating. Highly effective too! Good luck and keep up the good work mate👍
@@darkknight67584 Thank you again, you are too kind. I am hoping that we should make it to Poland by mid next, local restrictions are starting to wind down here, but I guess I will have to monitor what their travel policy is too.
@@jiskodadski3208 by the way - you can get a saber from Sieniawski (the guys that made Born for the Saber) - exactly like the sabers used in the film. Not cheap, but handles like a dream.
@@alexspielberg4090 I bought all of mine from overseas sellers. I do believe that there is a store called Global Gear in Melbourne who also sell on ebay and their own website. I have never used them, however I know people who have. They list Cold Steel stuff on their ebay, so you might be able to get the Cold Steel Polish Saber there and as you live in Melbourne, could probably visit their store and physically handle the swords before purchasing. Otherwise, you will have to order online from somewhere else. There are many sellers but I can only speak about ones I have personally used.
It did take 2 months to arrive, however that was all shipping time. Airmail in Poland had been locked down when I ordered, so it had to travel by sea to me in Australia. The owner of the site is friendly and helpful, they also have steel sparring szabla. I cannot comment on the current time of shipping to your location, so I would encourage you to send them a quick email.
UPDATE: It was a problem with the site now its all good. You can trust them they are good people but dont forget to remind them and check your order while you are waiting.
I purchased two of them from a Russian seller on etsy. Someone asked me the same question a while ago, but unfortunately I could not find the seller again. Maybe if you search etsy you could find them or this product, however the exact account I bought mine from no longer exists.
That recreation of "potop" fight between Wołodyjowski and Kmicic is just pure gold

Very nice video, I'm gonna order 2 of those very soon. Also the fact that you include your daughter in your passion is wonderful.
Thank you my friend.
Great duel from Potop, made me laugh and vodka, sure :)
So glad you enjoyed!
So how long before you can reenact the entire dule from potop? With your trainers.
When she's bigger and strong enough to hold it longer.

Judging on the weather in December - the place where you live is Australia. Yes?
Correct!
@@jiskodadski3208 I live in Melbourne
Could you suggest where the Polish sabre can be bought here?

But for real, she is not that bad with it, im quite impressed how she manages to hold this and swings. (i own 2 of the older models btw)
Thank you... must admit though, her wrist was very tired after filming.

That hasn't been our experience. I have made three seperate orders and all have been good.
@@jiskodadski3208 Well, you are lucky. Its sad because their sabers look nice. And people should know before they buy.
Where did you get that karabela trainer with the string on the pommel if you can point it out?

Do you know if they ship to the US? Aside from purpleheart it's a bit of a pain in the ass getting any sweet hema stuff here.
Yes, they most certainly would.
