- Doing research on colleges? Here's a video of the Pros and Cons of Tulane University.
I mainly skimmed over the Pros since other videos cover similar topics, such as my "Why You Should Choose Tulane" video. Otherwise, the Cons are mostly opportunities for growth - some are generic and some are more specific.
Congrats to all of the 2020 Tulane Graduates!
Hey! ~ My name is Alex and I'm a sophomore at Tulane University. I vlog for fun sometimes, even when my days aren't that interesting (lol enjoy). If you're new to this channel (or a prospective Tulane student), SUBSCRIBE for more content on my college experience!

Tulane has been my dream school since junior year and I am SO excited to be a part of the Class of 2024. You're videos are honestly so helpful; I was certainly having second thoughts earlier in the year about choosing a school in a city and so far away from family, and I was very stressed out considering that because of the global situation that I wouldn't be able to go back to campus until the school year started, but your videos have been so great in making me confident that I made the right choice for me. Thank you so much and please keep making videos :) (and I hope to see you on campus in the fall!)
Awww, thanks! I hope you love it - Roll Wave!
Was it worth it?
here bc i got into tulane!!! i'm so happy!!
Same
Aww Congrats!!
I'm about to start applying for college, so I've been watching a ton of college videos/vlogs with my mom, and you're BY FAR her favorite. She'll be all excited like, "Look, Alex has a new video!!" and the whole family sits down and watches it. So thanks for your quality content :)
Haha, loved this comment. Glad you and your family are enjoying them!
Thanks for sharing your experiences. I am an upcoming senior and am very hook to your videos! You provide AWESOME advice!
thank you for making so many great videos. I am a freshman and Tulane is my dream school. also opportunity for growth :)
Best of luck!
Just wanna say thanks a lot for all these videos. I’m an Australian doing third year university and planning on doing an exchange semester in the US once COVID clears up. I’ve got to decide between Ohio State or Tulane and I’m on the fence, so these videos have been really helpful.
I think it depends on what scene you want; Ohio state is a LOT bigger and more into sports. Tulane is a lot smaller and more towards the liberal arts.
@@sadielyons5546 Yeah true, I think coming from the most isolated city in the world in West Australia I’d love the big college scene and sports that come with OSU. On the other hand everyone tells me New Orleans is one of the most fun cities in the country and miles better than Ohio, plus the weathers better so I’m leaning towards Tulane.
@@maxk4570 if you come from a remote city, tulane will probably be plenty big. And you can spend some time in the city too!
Addendum... Your personality is awesome. Lends to one watching more of your work! Seriously magnetic! You've made my day better. Thanks! Jb Baton Rouge
awwww, thanks!!! thanks for watching!
The football part has changed! Yay! Roll Wave!
So exciting for Tulane! let's hope they keep it up
Sounds like Tulane will really live up to my expectations based on their email! Hope I can afford to attend!
Apply to the scholarships! To an extent, the scholarship apps are more important than the actual application...
Thank you!
tulane is one of my dream schools ever since they started emailing me in my sophomore year of high school. i definitely feel like i would be accepted but i’m just worried about getting too excited but not being able to pay for it.
Defintely apply for ALL of the scholarships at Tulane (they're honestly more important than the actual application). There are other scholarships and work-study opportunities also when you go to Tulane. After your freshman year, you can work as an RA, which pays $16,000 per year.
Students of color also can visit Tulane for the multicultural fly-ins (Tulane pays for transportation and staying the dorms) where you can be interviewed for a few extra thousand dollars each year.
Lastly, you can also meet with your financial aid advisor or admissions counselor and voice your thoughts if you are not happy with your financial aid packages.
I really hope this helps. By no means should you bank on these opportunities, but it's a good thing to keep in the back of your mind when applying to all of your other universities.
Really cool videos. Just watched Tulane virtual...
I was so excited to look up this college. But then got really upset when I found out it doesn't have the major I was (something with science. Mostly environmental or conservation). This school literally sounds so amazing!
Suck the it doesn't really have the major I want:/
We've got environmental studies... and a few earth sciences classes - but you're right, slightly limited in that area at Tulane
Got my acceptance letter yesterday 🎉🎉🎉
3 weeks back, I received a mail from Tulane university saying congratulations the admission committee are very impressed with my application, but due to covid 19 they will be doing thing differently.
I also had online session with the director of the PhD Program where i was briefed on the department and research areas.
Does that means i am accepted?
amazing video
I’ve been wanting to go to Tulane since high school-and I just got accepted for the MS in Tropical Medicine! My head is swimming because I have never been to Louisiana, and I don’t know how I’d afford anything, especially tuition. But I am hopeful!

Please can you tell me more about your admission process up to acceptance
Just got accepted to the same program! I hope your doing ok.
@@ryancampbell5039 Congratulations! I actually didn’t end up going to Tulane due to costs of tuition-I’m instead pursuing a PhD in my home state. :)
Here for the Nola love. Live in the metro but hope to live there someday
Let’s manifest it
Graduated Tulane in 2016 and now I’m at Tulane SOM. Still love it (:
Can't wait to start at TUSOM!
do you mean the school of medicine? i would love to go there, how is it?
@@mirialysdiaz1203 Yes. I really enjoy it. There is a relaxed but supportive atmosphere. If you get a chance to interview here, I would suggest talking with the students who give the tour or with the students in the common room during the break. They're usually very honest about their experiences.
@@kirsten9729 thank you! very helpful
Well done video.
Thanksss glad it’s still getting some views after all this time
Is there a Latinx cultural organization? I heard a few multicultural ones, which is great that those are available for support (:
Yes there is! Went to one of their events and it was pretty great!
Tulane has great financial support in some of its graduate programs. Maybe my daughter could do UGA (in state)for undergrad and Tulane for grad school.
Hi Alex. I’m from New Orleans and I graduated from the School of Engineering at Tulane. Can’t believe you said New Orleans is expensive. We have a low cost of living with lots of free stuff to do, so I disagree. We rank 94 on a median score of 100. The politics, on the other hand, is not known to be one of the better aspects of the city. A con you could have mentioned is that the fall semester starts at the peak of hurricane season. That’s a pretty big deal. Over 4 years you’re likely to at least be threatened by an evacuation. Finally, the Engineering school is limited in disciplines, so if you wanted to say change from ChE to ME you’d be out of luck. Otherwise, good job!
Thanks! Those are all super great poings. On a side note, you may have heard that the School of Science Engineering is being rennovated right now - so I'm excited to see what it looks like very soon!
opportunity for growth
Yes! I thought I was writing descriptions for nothing
@@AlexSuh I always read the descriptions while I watch the video!
Tulane is my dream college and I'm only in elementary. I'M SO excited to probably be in this school. Pray for me to get in :)
work hard!
Opportunity for Growth ! :)
Why do people keep commenting this? ;)
Real Madrid jersey go crazy
Coming soon!
Hopefully I'll get in next spring as a transfer.
Good luck!
@@AlexSuh Bro I get in!!!!
@@jasonzhang3123 congrats!!!!! See you next semester!
@@AlexSuh Thanks! See you next semester!
I graduated from Tulane in 1990. I went to school with several people who became either famous or infamous after graduation.
Is possible to get a scholarship at university for masters degree in public health
sph.tulane.edu/scholarships; Look out for the deadlines!
I'm freaked out about the thought of roaches in the dorms and other places around campus as well as the communal bathrooms in old buildings. Even with great academic programming and fun, friendly atmosphere, I absolutely hate roaches; and a bad living environment -- roaches and sucky bathrooms -- would stress me. How bad is it?
Hahahaha well…. Dont be surprised if you find one in the bathroom. Depends on which dorm no matter how clean
Not too bad lol. But you also never get used to it 😅
does tulane have a law program
Yep, they've got a 3+3 program!
Transferring out of Tulane bc of the lack of diversity and immaturity of the students. Too much like high school, unfortunately.
Hi! Where did you transfer to?
I wanna go to Tulane but their football program ain’t really good
Yeaaaaa not the best seasons these last few years 🙃
We have sports but the student section sucks.
Anyone else coming here next year?
yesss
Roll wave 🌊 🌊
The class of 2024 is the most diverse group (true)
Damn but did we ask?
Diversity is a bad word in today’s world
Off campus Activities at any school are out of students price range.
Agreeeeed, once I got a car, I found other cheaper ways to enjoy the city (non-touristy things)
Location is a con.
Step outside in the 72 weather today and tell me it’s a con!
I'm in Mississippi, and I personally don't like Louisiana, but Tulane is cool :P
it may be the highlight of the state lol
@@AlexSuh Yeah lol
yo what da hell where y'all masks at
Can't believe pandemic hit the US two years ago already. These videos were filmed before then LOL
got deferred. unlucky.
Did u take the sat or act? If so what did u get
Glad you took the shot. All i can say is wherever you end up for college, you’ll make the most of it. The college experience is what you make of it. So make it the most memorable years

o
not the madrid jersey lol
hahaha, yea, I'm a barca fan
@@AlexSuh if you are wearing a madrid shirt your definetely not a barca fan haha, in europe football clubs are more than a sports team and a barca fan would never even touch a madrid shirt (not only becuase of the football rivalary but also for political reasons) but yeah you americans just don't get football i think haha
nice videos btw
Overpriced diploma factory
@3:22 "While also picking up some minors along the way" ......Yikes.
he meant a minor as in addition to a major dummy
the fact that “diversity” to you means race is sad.
my apologies - in this video I did talk about Tulane's goal of becoming more racially diverse, but I recognize that diversity includes other identities such as sexual orientation, ability, gender, age, religion, etc. I believe Tulane is making strong strides to fostering a safe community for all identities, including race.
@@AlexSuh none of those things should matter for an educational institution. those with the best grades and highest potential should occupy that space.
I'm going to have to respectfully disagree. From a healthcare perspective, those with the most diverse life experiences have the ability to understand people with different backgrounds. These leaders are the ones who are able to solve the most complex problems and contribute the most to society.
@@AlexSuh interesting perspective. have a nice weekend.
