We may not have the gorgeous weather of SoCal, but being able to have 66 acres of wooded trails and very distant neighbors is a blessing I never thought I would experience in my lifetime. Hi Wayne! I had to do this on both my gas range and my gas dryer. While I did the dryer, my brother-in-law did the range. I don't think he paid attention to the orifice sizes however, because it has never really worked correctly. Simmering something on the front burners is impossible because the flames are too big even on low heat. I'm going to look at the orifices and maybe even go get a new set just to get the size chart for my particular range. It could be the air/lp mix is off, so I'll anxiously await your video on those tweaks. Hi to camera-shy SuzieQ and my love to you both. Merry Christmas, be kind!

    • @WaynePolcin
      @WaynePolcin  2 года назад +1

      Hi Angie. Have you tried looking your range model up on the internet? All the documentation for our range was readily available, even the conversion kit instructions. You can also deduce where the orifices should go by ranking them in size - smallest orifice goes with smallest burner, etc.
      Merry Christmas and lots of love to you too, Angie!

      The manufacturer's instructions tell us to turn that valve off in order to make the orifice installation easier. Hello so does the switch being the regulator need to be switch downward for propane gas conversion

    • @WaynePolcin
      @WaynePolcin  2 года назад

      The switch on the left side of the regulator is for turning the gas flow on and off. The down position is off on my case. This needs to be off to facilitate flipping the orifice on the regulator. Make sure you turn the switch back on when you’re finished flipping the orifice. I hope I understood your question correctly.

    Thanks for this nice, thorough video. (I have to do this now) One question, please. Before you turned around the regulator orifice, why did you shut off (push down switch)? And if it is really necessary, did you have to put it back on after you were done? You never showed this. Thanks, again!

    • @WaynePolcin
      @WaynePolcin  2 года назад +1

      Honestly, the only reason I turned it off is because the instructions that came with my range included that step. They said it had something to do with the ease of reinstalling the orifice. I questioned it too but did it anyway.

    hi wayne, i got a magic chef stove from the trash and converted it to propane. it works but the flames are yellow, not blue, and they are very high. my guess is that i need to change to a smaller size orifice. in your conversion, were you propane orifices larger or smaller thank the stock ones? thanks

    • @WaynePolcin
      @WaynePolcin  7 месяцев назад

      The propane orifices for LP are smaller than NG orifices. This is because LP operates at 11” WC, whereas NG operates at 7” WC. The hole sizes are based on the BTU design of each burner. So a burner rated for 9500 btu would use a 0.035” hole for LP and a 0.053” hole for NG, etc.
