First of all. Big thanks for the DDR5 Benches on the 13900k. 10% more performance is quite noticable and gives us a better perspective on what is best for Star Citizen right now.
What I find very interesting is that DDR5 XMP 7800 CL36 is on par with DDR4 fine tuned. But fine tuned DDR5 is another step further. So for people who don't want to fine tune DDR5 XMP is the way to go atm.
I'm really looking forward to the 7800x3d benches. To bad you don't have unlimited Budget to also go for the 7950x3d in comparison but well. Can't have everything.
Atm I'm using a 4090 with 12900k on XMP DDR4 @ 3600. I'm still thinking when and to what I wanna upgrade to. You give valuable input here!
Thanks a lot again. Have a nice day and keep going.

These videos have been excellent. Been holding off my build just a bit longer. I know SC is quite core dependent than cache and I know they got some tech up their sleeves with the P cores and E cores so I'm curious what they have plan but looking forward in seeing your comparison with the 7800x3d and 13900k. May just stick 13900k since I do media and some content creation and productivity, can care less about power consumption. If I'm in the market to spend that kind of cash with a high gpu and cpu; power efficiency isn't in my books then...

RAM was always important, the mainstream media like Linus Tech tips used poor testing methodologies, where the GPU was in full load, and came to the conclusion that RAM did not real matter to a certain point. Complete garbage testing and a lot of people believed it.

    Interesting numbers for sure.
What kind of secondary timings are you using on the DDR5 sticks? You usually see some good gains tuning those, so just wondering!
Also, do you take server fps into account when doing the runs? I saw a massive 15 fps difference in game fps between a server running at like 4 fps and one running at 15 fps in Orison.

    • @gamedaytoday1
      @gamedaytoday1  Год назад

Yes server variance was taken into consideration server FPS does not impact performance rather it is the number of entitles the server has is sending the client that impact performance, at a minimum I did 5 runs to make sure I got both good and bad servers so the average you see is taking into account both the good and bad server performance.

    • @Hoofie

@@gamedaytoday1 What about the seconday timing?
Also, you got a solid 13900K there! Theres a big variance between them when it comes to their memory controllers, some of them just refuse to work at like 7600 etc, even with an Apex.

These videos and tenpoundfortytwos vids helped me pick out the 5800x3d and it's KILLER. The game is so much smoother and it's much easier to just focus on the game and get lost in it. Tried to mess with my ram too but no matter what I can't reach the rated 3600mhz only 3200. Still the gains are huge. Orison used to be 12fps now it's 30. Lorville is in the 40s-60s. Stations are in the 100s and space is in the 120s. Pve bounty dogfights would drop drames to low 30s but now I can dogfight around the 50s.

Two things I just want to add:
    1) Based on your scores tuned DDR4 = tuned DDR5 7800 is SC, which is amazing for DDR4. And I see no reason to pay the premium of DDR5 because of this.
    2) You should really test other games too, because you're doing a good job with the OC-ing and tuning. I mean CPU bound games only, not any game.

To be clear to anyone who doesn't know, RAM speeds matter WAY less for AMD GPUs, and consequently you don't need to splurge for 7200 MHz memory for them. 6000 or so will do. Hell, a 7800X3D with even just 5600CL28 could beat a 13900KS with 8000MHz memory in most games. Depends in SC, and things in SC will almost certainly change in the Vulkan era.
    Just a PSA.

13900ks vs 7800x3d +- same. Only if you play stradagy yes, you need amd. In cs we see how match tuned memory timings and clock give for all fps datas and i seen most compare and i can say in fight 1 vs 1 on yela drops of x3d CPU are massive so mb you will have cheap ram and not tuned but if you have drops in dogfight bc low clock it`s realy bad news for SC. and i dont say of burning issues and tempertures.
