the rumors doesnt make sense at all .. he never really opted to be head coach anyways .. being Director was what he wanted to be for a while .. suddenly going to england to be a head coach?

I lost it as well with impeccable and unnamed sources!! If you are going to break a story like that at least make an effort to get a quote from Rassie. It was not a good Sunday. Rassie was called a sellout on Social Media. The UPSIDE Rassie opened a twitter account and gave us some inside stuff, thank you Hendrik!! Thank you Guys!!

He's as close to useless as it gets, leaving the Boks with no wins against the Welsh, the English or the All Blacks and losses against Ireland, Argentina, Australia and even Italy. No Boks coach comes close to that abysmal record and he's not exactly breaking ground in Japan with the Canons either - they've finished sixth and seventh under him!

@@mvumenimzimela3590 I know, and that did deepen the pool, but no Boks side should lose to Italy. Our under-23s could beat them! I've also yet to see a team managed by Coetzee improving in any meaningful way. Rassie has improved the Boks from front to back, but they were a shambles when he took over. Record losses to New Zealand are one thing, but getting tonked 38-3 by Ireland, losing to Wales two years in a row, or narrowly scraping past Argentina to THIRD place in the Rugby Championship are the stuff of nightmares. Honestly, no coach who knows what he's doing would preside over that, and Coetzee has been managing for twenty years and has only won two Currie Cups!

Allister Coetzee was part of the coaching staff that won the Rugby World Cup in 2007. In 2010 he coached the Stormers to the Super 14 final. He’s not a useless coach he just wasn’t successful as head coach of the Springboks.

  • @garthfairfield8357

Why doesn't he just stay as head coach? Obviously he has done a awesome job with a young team but I feel he could've take them to new heights and smashed some records in the coming years! Wtf is a director of rugby? I almost feel like he's forced to move on

@@garthfairfield8357 you still are not getting it. If you had followed the thing since the start, you'd know that he took on the coaching role because he wanted to be director. Leading from the front as he always has done meant that as a world cup winning coach, he could then move forward to sort out all the other bullshit as director. All other top tier nations have had an all encompassing structure in place for years. Not SA! As a result our coaches have come and gone quite quickly. Some good and some bad. It's only through size, talent and a whole rugby playing nation, that we have maintained a fairly good ranking It makes perfect sense. Are you now getting it!

"Our rugby will be weaker if we dont play NZ every year"
Thats nonsense Mark Keohane. First of all many of our top players are playing up north, secondly NZ and Aus benefit far more than us from a logistical point of view and lastly it is because of SA financial strength in SR and the RC that NZ is able to keep its best players while SA gets stuck sucking on the hind tit.

South Africa is also losing its players at a much younger age than NZ is. The average for SA players abroad is 25 and getting younger, the average age for NZ is 29 which will also start going down when SARU finally withdraws from SANZAAR. This year alone we already lost 24 of our top players to the north, not accounting for players without test caps that have left our shores.
