- Hi everyone,
Welcome to my third trip report, where I am seen flying from Washington Dulles to Toronto City Centre Airport onboard a sleek Porter Airlines Bombardier Dash 8 Q400.
On April 28, 2017, after an amazing week with my college program in Washington, it was finally time to go back home to our college studies. This was my very first time flying out of Dulles International Airport, and I have to say, it was a pretty cool experience because it's not a typical airport where you go straight to your gate after security. First, you have to check which concourse your flight is out of, then you have to take a subway to that concourse.
Now let me tell you what Porter's service is like. It's excellent, to sum it all up! Once we boarded the aircraft, we sat down in our really comfortable leather seats. After taking off on time, we were served with elegant snacks and drinks to keep us satisfied for the 1 hour and 20 minute long flight. Finally, to sum it all up, we were greeted back into Toronto with some stunning skyline views, however, I sat on the wrong side so I was unable to get that footage for you.
A special thanks goes out to Georgian College, my professors and my wonderful friends for making this trip a phenomenal experience that I will never, EVER forget. If you are looking for an aviation-oriented program, I strongly recommend Georgian College's Aviation Management program.

Excellent trip-Report! Very well showcased with great detail and well thought-out clips.
Really glad you liked it bud! Thanks so much, really means a lot :)
Very good trip report and some interesting information. Glad you had a good trip!
Thanks very much Steve! I'll be back someday :)
Wow! So awesome Ross! Both airports are phenominal and the Dash 8 is still my all time favourite! Makes me kinda excited for my first solo airline flight...
Thanks a lot my friend! Hope you have fun on your first solo flight! :)
Trust me, I did. :)
Landing on runway 26 is always a fun challenge, especially when the winds are coming out of the north. Nice video!
Thanks Daniel! It must be a little bit scary as well haha!
awesome trip report.
Thanks, JJW :)
Great video onboard this turboprop.
Thanks Yannis :)
Wow, awesome take off
Thanks man! :)
Your welcome
Nice tripreport
Thanks a lot mate :)
Great video! This really gives me inspiration for my next trip!! Don't know if I'm gonna do a Full Flight or a trip report..... Will see!
Thanks a lot Nick! Either way I bet it will be really good! :)
Love those single engine taxi for Q400, and yes, it was saving fuel and money. Flybe also do single taxi too for their fleets including Q400s.
Great! I travel mostly via CYTZ and Porter so this was all familiar territory for me.
Thanks for stopping by Russel! This will probably become my territory because I'll fly Porter again! :D
Good! I fly Porter a few dozen times per year. Normally the YTZ EWR loop as my daughter lives outside of NYC. Porter pioneered an elite like lounge for ALL passengers when the industry was moving to a pay for service model. I liked that. The also offer wine and beer on afternoon and evening flights. #SERVICE
Must be nice to fly Porter dozens of times per year. That's awesome! I'd love to go to NYC someday.
Nice video!
Thank you! :)
Thank you for sharing this flying experience. You had done a great job filming as much as you possibly can. Showing all of us how great the Porter Airlines is. Thank you again!!! Glad that you had a nice and safe travel back to Canada!!
Excellent trip report
Thank you Mr. Cork Aviation! :)
Awesome review! That livery looks pretty unique and interesting! ;)
Thanks a lot! It for sure does! :)
Amazing trip report man! This flight looked fantastic. The close up views of Downtown Toronto at TTZ were breathtaking- especially the CN Tower! I hope you had a great college trip to Washington D.C.
Oh, I did not have a great trip.....I had an AMAZING TRIP!!! Thank you so much man, that really means a lot that you liked it! :D
another nice trip report! I love propeller aircrafts, do you?
A small, but I think important point, at 4:12 you say "Initiate: Engine # 2" In fact the engine you point out is engine # 1.
Haha, the only reason I called engine #1 engine #2 was because that was the second engine to be started. So in my mind I was like, "initiate engine #2" (the second engine).
Do you know why the right propeller begins moving first, but the left one doesn't usually start until takeoff?? It has been boggling my mind forever because all the Q300s and Q400 all start their right engines first, but the left one doesn't start until much later into the taxi. Any idea why?
I probably should've watched the video more to find out before posting this comment. xD
Haha, so you found out that the reason why only one engine is operative during taxiing is because to reduce emissions right? XD
***** apparently so... I should have watched the video more lol 😂
The right propeller powers vital electronics while the left one doesn't.
BTW, you did a good job on the trip report! :D
I am literally waiting for that exact same plane in the same gate A26 right now!
That's amazing! Hope you have a great flight
Toronto Plane Spotter Thanks it was good but I have to agree with you the plane is very noisy and little distracting. Also thanks for your advice on sitting on the right side. The view was breathtaking!
All twin engine turbofans should taxi with one engine. They can fly with just one
no free wine or beer in real glass available?????
I was offered it on the flight, but I wasn't in the mood for alcohol haha
You take aviation management?! Where do you go?? I plan on taking it after high school!
