@SKMatoBB No, the wadding is fireproof. The rocket engine actually blows a small charge toward the parachute to launch it. Without fireproof wadding the parachute could melt.
First time to build a rocket. I get your point on not going through rocket build step by step but I almost clicked out instantly. Good thing I decided to comment because I would have missed the important tips. Maybe don't lead with what you're not gonna do viewer but with crucial things you will do for the viewer.

@AppleKid17 No, you didn't fail. Just keep after it. Like everything else you get better at it with time and experience. It will be fun to launch.
@mariehansler You are very welcome, The tandem kit is a nice all inclusive kit. great place to get started in rocketry.
@ChoiceI3 You can use a hot glue gun if you have one. Or apply glue to fin and tube and let it sit a few minutes to get tacky then apply and hold a minute. then lay it down in something so that fin is exactly vertical . Or try a loose rubber band. Definitely do all the fins separately.
That is a seriously powerful engine. You must get a very high launch!

Cool! The C Engine is a pretty strong engine! I have this great idea for what I am going to do with my next rocket. It's a secret for now though :)
@TheApopproductions According to the estes website the a10 engines don't fit the amazon. sorry!
Any hobby shop, amazon has it and I think i have seen it at Home Depot.
@SKMatoBB 5-6 dollars for pack of it. Should last at least ten launches or more.
What glue do I use
I am not sure but I dont think it will be strong enough.

If you loose the launch lug you can just use a straw from mcdonalds

Just bought this kit online at Amazon for $27. Why do you need a specific engine for the First Flight?
+code3jefe You don't really. They do however recommend a specific engine for first flight that is not so powerful so as to not stress the rocket too much on first flight.
After breaking this one in I used a C6-5 engine and it went up really high. Problem was the parachute made it come down very slowly and it drifted into someone's backyard.
