Me too! Picking up my project ‘08 Lexus GX 470
I feel this dude, I bring upwards of $26,000 of camera equipment I used on my hiking videos. In a space where views are hard to come by I feel production quality is something I can control and something most aren't willing to suffer for but it really comes at a cost mentally and physically. I upload videos of hikes never been filmed before, first ever drone shots, stuff with unique features like dinosaur footprints and I get 200 views where a video on a new hiking bladder hose or whatever gets way more views. Its important that while we may willingly suffer for the craft, we shouldn't miss the entire point of being out there in the first place.
@bluelinetrout that is so true, so much auto tuned crap. I hate the sound of auto tune. What happened to just raw singing?

Super cool man, I resonate with this big time. It’s been like… 7 years of RUclips almost? The Subarus and the Tacoma. You get fcking caught up - you get lost - it becomes a lot of work. But we all get caught up in the commercial side of things. “Sponsors”, or “work for product” which becomes something you chase you lose the passion. Hope we can link up for some camping buddy 🙌🏻🙌🏻🙌🏻

Yeah we go out and record a lot of stuff with the iPhones, not everything, but a lot. Then when i get time i go through it all and edit it down. Dont get me wrong, i do care about my audience and trying to make interesting content for thoughs who are interested in our adventures. But i mainly do it for me my friends and family. We love going back and watching the videos and the trips we go on and the fun we had.
Like a living memory almost, when the past gets hazy we look back at the videos and remember clearly.
I just started getting more serious about the editing, but i keep it simple and just have fun with it.

Glad you're back. You're GX is super cool. I sold mine a few months ago and picked up an Audi A6 Allroad. I wasn't taking my GX on any trips to warrant the gas mileage and it went to someone that can take it on some real nice trips.
You went from incredibly reliable to one of the least reliable ever made.
@@Andrew-on5do we’ll see… I’m loving the allroad though and all of its modern luxuries. Will it last 20 years and 200k miles, who knows but I’ll probably have something different before then.
@@BrettsGarage not bashing your decision to purchase one. I’m a fan of the German stuff also. I own a golf r and my wife has a q5 but the 200k mile Gx seems to be our least difficult of vehicles.
@@Andrew-on5do i didn’t think you were. I think I bought the wrong GX. It was from the northeast and I went through 2 set of headers in 5 years, burned through some front rotors before upgrading to the 460 calipers. The a/c went bad and needed replaced along with steering column and some cv joints. Whole exhaust needed replaced. Airbags went out so upgraded to an ironman 1.5” lift with 33” tires. I spent nearly $13k in repairs over almost 5 years of ownership but thats including some shop costs as I didn’t have time for the more recent stuff. It was also close to its timing belt replacement, the touchscreen quit working and I drive about 400 miles a week for work now so those factors all added up to my buying s new car. Illegally never buy a northeast or rust belt car again. I miss the 470 when I need to tow one of my other cars or go pickup some stuff from home depot, as I didn’t care as much if the trunk got dirty. I tried to convince my wife to get a newer GX460 but she opted for a VW Atlas. Ze Germans as Clarkson would say, lol.
Good for you! Your channel is in a completely different league than mine but I know what you mean. I hit the creative wall at the same time work got really busy and I had to prioritize… meaning the RUclips videos were de prioritized. I also got tired of waking up every morning looking at RUclips statistics on subscribers and watches and and and... You’re right - go out there and make videos that make you happy. Don’t care about what the RUclips algorithm says.
