You have to google Riverhill Himalayan Gardens today 2023, Sarah and Ed have renovated the gardens to the highest standards, a real professional botanical garden. The best part of all this is they have managed to afford to repair 80 years of neglect and the historical trees and plants are the jewels in the crown. Extremely well done Sarah and Ed Rodgers!
That is the best news in quite some time, to be honest. It seemed unique.
It’s incredible what this family has done! Just WOW! Look up their website- out of this world!!
I did the research in 2024th and they still up ! It's that awesome ! The grandma died with 98 years old sadly. But they had more one baby!
I wish to visit the Himalayan Gardens when I'm back to UK !
Wishing all the best for this beautiful family. 🎉
What a difference it makes when the owners are not only receptive to new ideas and criticism, but then follow through with recommendations!
This series as a whole has revealed family after family, steeped in stubborn ignorance, who have come to own a home created by a by-gone generation.
Finally, a family removed from the incompetence of most in their shoes, and have embraced the expert advice presented.
I Googled to see what Riverhill was doing now, they appear to have went from strength to strength, and they now do weddings. Evelyn (Granny) died last year (2022) aged 98.
RIP she was a interesting character from the old school of pre war Great Britain.
@@davidvoelkel8392 Last of her kind I would say.
gone* from strength to strength and they now do weddings (no need for the comma)
@@martinfpavey plenty of need for the comma if you do not like long sentences, as for the gone/went...whatever!
Martin Pavey: looking beyond the surface though, I’m very grateful to have someone look up information re current fortunes.
This is my very favorite. Wonderful family. Sara is the key and a husband that looks at her adoringly.
Sara was particularly great, took him 10 yrs but he made the right choice definitely.
I love that Sara, the school teacher Mrs Rogers came up with this brilliant idea to make a family adventure out of the precious woodland! Her husband is so supportive and makes an adorable Yeti! Ruth expanded on their ideas and it seems this house has a bright future! RIP Great-Grandma! So valuable that Ruth had her record her knowledge for future generations! I would love to take my own grandchildren there someday!
I just sent this to my friend who is a school teacher because we have talked about the most creative get er done people around. TEACHERS!
Teachers rock, well done! ❤
The most exciting gardens I’ve seen on the program. Unlike many, this family was a joy to meet. Lovely people, lovely home, lovely gardens!
It’s about time people listen and Actually work together. Good to see this actually work.
I looked up the website for river hill in September 2023 and it’s such a success!! I would absolutely love to have this local for my kids! I mean what a brilliant idea. Then if you look on the website they have workshops, yoga, painting, wreath making ect. That maze is coming along now starting to look like a hedge maze. I think this is the most successful country house rescue of this show!! Well done Ruth you did so amazing.
The obvious love between ed and sarah is palpable and wonderful to witness!!! (the way they look at one-another).
I’m thrilled for the follow up. I’d love to see more follow ups and continue with this project, also!
grandma's satisfaction in the end is so good
27:05 I think everyone should make it a tradition of interviewing (video recording) their grandparents (~75 y/o)
A very complimentary family who know how to work things out and get things done!
This has to be my favourite of all the Country House rescues! What grand ideas with the Himalayan adventures, the climbing wall, tree house, the Maze and the stunning woodland and gardens. The Cafe looks entirely tempting with all its homely offerings. Just fantastic all round!
Congratulations to the family! 🏆👏👏👏👏👏💝
Sara is brilliant. A wonderful family.
This has been the only episode that has made me want to cry! Really loved how they turned this around. That couple makes an awesome team.
Sarah and Ed are a handsome an creative couple - best if all things
So excited about this "save" and what they have continued to do for Riverhill. RIP Granny. I am glad she got to see the place turned around.
I have binge watched from last night at keast 5 different properties thst have had efforts to be restored.
Its so good to see a house going from strength to strength whilst keeping its family and history alive.
Ed has a classic look, timeless, could have been a model.
The yeti was a stroke of genius ! The kids loved it. I would strongly suggest that they employ a professional plantsman to propagate the rare plants they have to preserve the collection and perhaps even to sell...
Unfortunately , it looks like a lot of the Yew trees in the maze have died and need replacing...
This family seems ready for change! Compared to some others on the show. I love visiting stately homes.
Wish them all the best!
Sarah is the hero!❤❤
Ruth is brilliant at negotiating with all the different generations in a kind but firm way. More please I am living in Australia and desperately miss the English countryside and architecture not to mention the eccentric families
Wonderful solution and perfect for his wife that is a qualified teacher and their own children. All the children visiting looked like they were having so much fun. In years gone past, some people left their estates for children to enjoy and left them to Barnardo's. Hence, I was horrified to discover that the Children's Charity had sold off many of those estates throughout the UK to property developers. That wasn't the intention of the givers, I'm sure that they had hoped their historical homes and grounds would be protected and saved for the future's children to enjoy. So it gladdens my heart to see this project at Rivenhill House in Kent.
Ruth custom makes ideas specifically for each house. She is truly unique and really listens to each owners wants and desires. This is a wonderful achievement by this family.
An absolute beautiful save!
the beauty of this -- the Rogers gave a place of nature, of wonder, and pure fun to children who live in the City with the major majority who do not have a backyard, frontward or place to run and play and the thrill of being in beauty of nature and oops -- I sure learned a lot today, too!
Sara is the life blood- what she’s achieved is incredible- it’s one of the greatest things I’ve ever seen- her enthusiasm and ideas saved this legacy and some of the most inspiring gardens I’ve ever seen!
I agree! Ed did well to marry her.
This family is splendid. Could have been created by P.G. Wodehouse.
Not wicki wackey woo enough.
I think every change that was made was made for the children as well as the parents to interact with children. The Maze is absolutely a great ideal. Just in a short sight of watching Parents were chasing them and having a fun as well as everyone was getting much needed exercise. To have a great place to learn the history of the trees, plants & flowers would & still have loads of fun. Spot On!
It’s wonderful to see a continuation of this series. I am so tired this evening but when I saw this episode, my plan for an early night has been put off in favour of enjoying an hour at the Rogers’ family home. Thank you.
Got to LOVE the Grandmother Evelyn for telling Ruth that she's NOT an old fuddy duddy and that she DOES know what's going on.
Ruth: "Does this imply you've been taking a back seat ?" as if the lady weren't capable.
Evelyn putting the woman right back where she belongs: "Well; how to put it ? Having been in hospital and being in a coma, this is the first time I've come out for 5 weeks, so obviously I've taken a back seat......."
She was too polite to add - You silly old cow - at the end of that because she has an education, but she implies it so well 😁
Good on you Mrs Rogers Senior.
This was the best episode I have watched to date. Just wonderful what you have created for the children and future generations.
I agree. The previous episode I watched, the home owner was so resistant to any suggestions it was rather irritating to watch.
I am so thrilled to find this Riverhill house rescue video - and I'm also delighted to see that the younger Mrs. Rogers put in so much of her heart, soul and creativity (particularly in the Himalayan theme) into the overall development of the project. I can't wait for my own children to one day visit Riverhill, when and if we get a chance to travel to England. We ourselves have lived in the real Himalayas (Kalimpong and Sikkim) for 10 years :)
I understand that the owners of such homes are somewhat entitled but if these homes are to be saved and preserved for future generations there need to be some form of relief from death taxes which sometimes are crippling to the point where the house has to be sold or left to fall into decay and lost forever.
That can easily be avoided by proper planning which everyone should do. Its usually due to greedy/selfish relatives that thought they would never die.
@@atodaso1668 What set the rot starting was both World Wars. Many of these old families had 3, 4, or more deaths, and so death duties, between 1914 and 1945. During the wars it could be that there was not time between deaths to do any Estate Planning, particularly when one heir after another was in combat.
Such a warm, fuzzy feeling, watching this, googling the castle, and seeing all these years later, it appears to be thriving. And they appear to still be a happy, wonderful family working together ❤️
I just love this series, hopefully it goes on for a long time to come, Thank you for the joy in me being able to observe it.
Do a RUclips search on river hill house, and it will come up with Riverhill Himalayan Gardens, quite spectacular with the fountains in such.
Elder Mrs. Rogers is age Wise and set in her ways but she cares for the house and and the gardens very much, only at the end of the video I came to realize this. I am sorry to hear that she passed away in 2022. May her soul rest in peace!
There is nothing more terrifying than a bunch of 8 year olds chasing a yeti !
It's wonderful when everyone put their energy and brain together.
No comments about this very handsome man so CUTE!!!
He is the image of his forbear wearing a white wig .
Ed......😁
Beautiful Story, truly! Love-it!
These mansions are truly gorgeous!!! The government should truly do everything to keep these estates as beautiful as the day were built.Ed’s mom looks so much like Barbara Bush.
Wedding venue with overnight room rental for wedding party’s out of town guests. Run part of it as a B&B.
Great idea!
29:10 should be like Lookout Mountain (in Rock City, TN) with a placard telling what things they can see from there
Congratulations! This is so wonderful and such a great service to the future . Its fun and educational. I love it!
I think we need to rescue Ed. He looks like he’s a prisoner.
I knew something was up, when his Wife said it tool him 10 years to propose. 😄
No need now. He has three grown sons as this was filmed in 2009.
LOL yes he looks a little shell-shocked. I hope he’s adapted
Are you mysoginstic?
@@nisar8009isn't strange even though it was filmed long Time ago , it was uploaded so late? I wonder why
What a gift to the family, EDs wife and her love of children and teaching , and Ed so calm. What a wonderful couple and family who are not at all selfish and who share a great vision for the future of this mansion and property and for the local community who clearly are enjoying all that has been provided. Gods hand is definitely at work here, even though his name is not mentioned, praise him who from all blessings flow.😊
I absolutely ADORE this family and everything they are doing. Beautiful people 💕
beautiful story of this great Rogers family Ed he looks like a Real King so Hanson and he have a beautiful wife teacher I love this River-hill House castle GOD bless this family home.
The young husband & family man Ed has more than a full plate. Grandma is a drag on progress. She needs to get on board.
My suggestion ahead of the lady.Ruth.. Ed and family and mother move in to mansion with grandma. rent out those 2 houses.. make a part of mansion a BnB for mom and grandma to run. Breakfast, dinners. Hire a cleaner a few hrs a day for ladies. Have more garden tours. Grandma 86. Should not be living alone, too costly. Everyone must tighten up purse!!@ I think a MAZE IS A GREAT IDEA. GREAT REVENUE..VISITORS FAMILIES WILL COME. KIDS WILL GO TO MAZE AND HAVE A BALL GETTING LOST. GRANDPARENTS CAN SIT AROUND AND LOOK IN GARDENS
The website and the repair plus restoration of the gardens, garden wall and the brilliant solutions made me cry!! It’s like nothing I’ve ever seen!! Fabulous and Sara Rogers is a jewel!
Is Ed really 50!? Is he a vampire or something
Some of these manor owners might find it interesting to visit The Biltmore in Ashville, NC
Right, The Biltmore is amazing. I can't believe it took me so long to go there and it is only in North Carolina. You know I need to plant a weekend trip for 2024 SPring this time.
Ed looks just like his father.
Great episode lovley to see the gardens are so busy still
the comments about his hair looking 20's was ironic considering today's most popular styles are a lot of slicked back type styles.
I just knew that they would have a success.
I think the world would be a finer place if we still had generational estates. I own a mansion on 100 acres and would love to know my descendants 5 generations from now were still on it.
I think the world would be a finer place if children did not go to bed hungry every day…. Different strokes for different folks.
Loved this video. Hubby is a very handsome man, would be even more so if he eased up on slicking his hair back. Women are always the multi-taskers. Hope you get to enjoy your home and get away once and awhile. Also hope one of your four children will want to continue the legacy
He has a great wife
❤I absolutely love this ❤ Thank you and God bless you 🙏 ❤️
This is the best show, watching it from Mexico
thanks ever so much for the designs you sent, just wondering if it could be a bit more himalayan looking. Lol
Resident Sherpas? Artificial snow?
Ed is very very handsome! I think his wife is very mother-like to him. She seems to treat him like she does her school children. That being said, I really like Sara and think she is the driving force to keeping this place going!
There is nothing wrong with having someone in the family who is good at stimulating & drawing out others best thinking & helping them to develop quality ideas.
that guy is a spitting image of what one would think of british royalty back in the day . Its like hes from the past
Ed should have had part if MANSION as a wedding venue or BnB. Or shirt term rental apts(2) plus tours if gardens!! And EDS INCOME. YES OLD MANSIONS, CASTLES COST $$$
Love the Grandma ❤
Ruth's voice is that of an old granny (plus shrill and shrieking), she sounds like that grandmother. Her dress sense matches that as well. Simon Davis over her anytime.
Her gray sweater was amazing
gee Ed's brother doesn't even get a house of the many on the estate...
Wonderful family
Its sad to chop 🌲🌴 trees down but they do have a lovely. View now the lord and lady could sell some of the land and still have the mansion and garden to pay for repairs
darwin was a real whoosh
Ed is such a personable young gent!
Great episode …
And the award for the sexiest man in the UK goes to Ed :) 😍😆😍
Really awesome to see this.good on them
Government should use the Foreign Aid budget to help these families
I hope you're not being serious
Catch the Yeti . .
WHAT A SUCCESS!!!
Yeah.... but does Grandma have 75K Euros a year to keep Ed from having to work 2 jobs just to keep 3 generations a float?
This man is so beautiful…. Sigh
Lets hope the daughters child a girl inherits the mansion for her ancestors that would be great😅
My question is, how in the world did this place get financed all these years when nobody worked? They said Ed was the first person to ever work.
Revenue from the land and tenants? I suspects they sold a few acres here and there when they needed more money.
Most of these big houses own land in the area, the Tennant farmers pay rent. That’s normally how. Some estates have other business interests though.
Ed seems to be under the thumb of the women of the family. I dont know how his grandmother can keep being negative about the maze when its clearly popular.
The Lodge seems nice.
That man is handsome
It's always baffling how these people sit on a mountain of gold and aren't doing anything with it until someone comes along and gives them a push.
Imagine giving such a beautiful piece of land to the average person with a bit of entrepreneurial spirit...
100,000 in one season... jeezes christ.
cool c'est formidable
The rudeness of this woman. Shocking.
Great vlog!
That was great fun!
I love this show
Next to the definition of the word 'Emasculated' ... is a picture of Ed!
Ed is the first Rodgers to earn money in the last 300 years? Hmm
The problem with the grandmother voicing her opinions is that she had her chance - over 50 years of it - to improve things and make them the way she wanted. Instead of sitting around being privileged and sipping tea. Unfortunately, there comes a time when you have to pass over to the next generation and let them get on. She was on borrowed time as it is, but now I hear she passed away in 2022 in her 90's. I mean, RIP, but the lesson is, do what you want to do in your earlier years and don't expect the younger ones to be under your thumb. They owe you nothing for sitting around.
I was thinking the same thing. It wasn’t like these problems just happened. Ed had to do something and thankfully he married Sara.
