I wash my sheets and duvet cover and pillow cases once a week in the winter. But hot weather I like clean sheets as often as possible. So wash every other day usually.
Thanks for sharing. Yes, seasons can also affect how often you wash the linens. I know in the wintertime my husband likes the house SUPER cold and there are nights I'm 7 layers deep in clothes (often gloves and a beanie hat) when I climb between the covers. So washing the sheets is not as much a priority as is the pillow case and the first layer of clothing I'm wearing.
I have a duvet (a warm one for winter and a thin cool one for summer). No matter the season and with a room temp the same year round, I can wake up sweating. I don't have the time or the energy to then wash and iron duvet covers and I am also mindful of the impact it has on the environment so I always have a 100% cotton top sheet between me and the duvet which is replaced once a week. Replaced next day if I sweat.
Woop woop! Changed my bed clothes earlier and it's now in a boil wash with the bath towels. Fiancé and I sometimes sweat a lot overnight and often wear a t-shirt to bed to mitigate this. I love the smell of freshly laundered bed linen, and there is nothing nicer than having a fresh shower in the evening after a long, tiring day, putting on fresh pajamas and lying in a clean, good-smelling bed. I change our duvet covers at least once a week, more often (especially in summer), because our dogs sometimes sleep in our bed at the foot of the bed. Since one of the dogs is allergic to dust mites, we also have these special covers, which I wash every two weeks, the actual pillows and blankets (inlets) every four weeks. In order to completely remove the dog's hair from the duvet covers, I put them in the tumble dryer for 30 minutes at a low temperature after washing, then I hang them on the clothesline to dry (I try to use as little electricity as possible). When I was still working in the hospital (I am a nurse) I changed the bedclothes at least once in my shift for completely bedridden patients (and at the same time did at least one little "cat wash" - face, hands, private parts-). This has often had a visibly positive effect on their wellbeing; I think the need to feel clean is human nature and you shouldn't underestimate it.
Thank you for mentioning the CPAP machine ❤️. Also, side/night tables and ceiling fans because, after all, the CPAP machine feeds you forced air, which is already around the machine and is delivered through the tubing attached, in order to keep the user's airway open/clear (in my case). I find dust on my machine every morning so I give it a swipe right then. Thanks for sharing 👍
Well, luckily, CPAP machines have pollen filters and ultrafine filters. There is no dust getting through an ultrafine filter. Just remember to clean the pollen filter and replace the ultrafine filter as indicated by the manufacturer.

Hi Angela. Do you use an air purifier in your own home? Regardless, as if you do or not, do you know of one that's good quality and actually helpful for dust and smoke? - cigarette smoke smell from a person in the household that smokes outside but it comes in on their clothes. Hence, I'm sure some ash comes in the home. Thanks so much!
Hi Kat, Yes I do use an air purifier, and depending on the size of your home or the area you are trying to treat will depend on which machine you buy. This is a great one amzn.to/3OpYzIh (paid link) and a bit on the pricy side but designed for Allergens, Smoke, Smokers, Dust, Odors, Pollen, Pet Dander. When considering which one to buy, look at the cost of the filter replacements as well and the frequency of changing them.
It all depends..do you shower before bed, do you wear pajamas, and how clean is the room. Ps. Because i dont wash my hair daily( nighly) i change the pillow case daily.
Yep a weekly wash gal ...however I do the pillow cases more often and I have mattress and pillow protectors as well ...I also wash my duvet ( not just the outer cover) once every few weeks or change it and fabric spray with 99% germ kill spray.. lavender is good for keeping moths at bay and also promotes sleep... bicarbonate soda sprinkle on the mattress between turning and vacuum ..yep vacuum as bed/dust bugs - my mattress I cannot flip so I just get hubby to turn it as it has memory foam topper....when my children were small they had atopic eczema so I was told by a nurse to change linen 2-3 days ...and it stuck ...linen sheets ...cotton and if not possible for cost ...then cotton mix fabrics ...my husband moans about the sheer amount of linen ...but that's just how it is! My throws are changed 3-4 days to keep my furniture clean ....I have pups ...so if I want to.keep....my furniture clean ....bed linen must be easy 👍🏻 I have arthritis ..so it's difficult...I prefer sunshine to dry clothes rather than heat ..but I read bugs hate the heat of the tumble dryer ..so I may not be quite as good that way ...but I just love clean sheets ...it's my ting 😂
When I was growing up we would wash our sheets maybe every 6 months. Once I moved out and baught dark sheets I started doing it once a month. After I got a dog it went up to once a week.
It sounds like you're on a great program now. And with the dog that's a great idea, especially if the dog shares the bed with the humans. Thanks for sharing this. :-)
Is the baking soda and the mattress working for you? I'm a big fan of mattress encasings that are washed regularly. This way there is never a need to clean the mattress. You just remove the encasing and wash that. BAM!
@@AskAngelaBrown Ahhh true. We bought a mattress topper for added comfort. I suggested the cover to my husband. He said whats the point if we have the topper. I'll show him your post😏
About every other month I put a cup of baking soda in a bowl, add 10 drops of lavender essential oil, stir it up, sprinkle it all over my mattress using an old flour sifter now used only for this purpose, leave it on for at least 4 hours, then vacuum it off.
Phyllis Diller once said,"I wash my sheets once a year, wether they need it or not"! Lol! Do mine weekly.Retired, live alone.I think if you're young,w.boyfriend etc.. ,and active 💝,you should do more often!Wink wink!
I line my trashcans with 5 bags at a time. Then you just remove the top bag. Ive also done this with fitted sheets. One over the other. Remove top sheet and wash with flat sheet. Make bed with fresh clean flat sheet. Saves me time.
Love your videos! I change my bed sheet often, every few days because I feel that it is the part that gets the most ‘dirty’, pillow cases usually go at the same time but not always since I got protectors. I admit I am a bit lazy with changing the duvet cover itself, perhaps once a week or just over. 🤭
Every day??? That is great if you have your own washer and dryer, but many of us do not. I wash my sheets every other week. It is just me and I just sleep on these sheets. Now that it is hard to get quarters for laundry machines that is about as often as I can do this.
What if you are extremely busy and honestly don't have time to do it once a week? I don't see how people with kids and pets and jobs can do that once a week 😵💫 We are lucky to get clothes washed once a week at our house. The exception is when someone is sick obviously. We can't afford a higher water bill, especially in the summer. They raise the price of electricity from like 6am-8pm in the summer in hopes of “conserving power” during hot summer days because everyone is using their AC and washers and dryers use a lot of electricity. It's two of the top things they suggest not using during these times. I can't stay up all night washing laundry (clothes plus bedding and other things like towels) or even splitting into two nights. I have to be up at 6am and need at least 8 hours of sleep.
If we did EVERYTHING we are supposed to, as OFTEN as we are supposed to, we cannot work 8 hours a day also and ever simply enjoy life. People live just fine without all this overkill.
I wish I could wash my bed sheets every week, but I just can't do it. My bedroom is tiny and the only way to position my bed that works is in the corner with a wall blocking one side and the head of the bed. The room is too small to pull the mattress out to create access (I then can't move around the room). So it's just too difficult and time-consuming to fight with it, and it's such a big project that I have to go as long as I can between doing it. I used to have a nice, normal size room with access on both sides and the ability to move around the bed freely to work on it, and I would change it much more often and it took a fraction of the time and wasn't nearly as strenuous. Now it's just awful though.
I can see why it’s hard to wash them frequently. For me, I find it important to wash my pillowcases more frequently. I feel like that’s where the “stale” bed smell comes from first...
I change my sheets every third day and everyone thinks I’m weird. I’m talking about my friends and family think I have OCD. I do the same thing a desk fan after I get everything off the bed but the dirty sheets. I washed my pillows once a week and I think that’s not enough
Your screen name says (Life After 60) which hints at post menopause. It's really common during menopause for women to wash their linens and bed sheets a couple of times a week due to severe night sweats. It's not as strange a concept as it sounds. And those who have never been through it don't have a clue. LOL. Thanks for sharing. :-)
As a single, older adult, I change my bed every 2 weeks. I change my pillowcase weekly. I go to bed clean. I wear PJs. I don't sweat much. If I am sick, I change the bed daily. I use the same bath towel for a week....I hang it so that it dries well daily.
If the bachelors sleep 8 hours a night (that is technically 1/3rd of a 24-hour day = 1/3rd of your life) with bed sheets wrapped all around your body like underwear - and only washed a couple of times per year... the negative consequences are they will probably stay bachelors. 😂😂😂
i’m on medication that makes me perspire. there is nothing i can do to stop it. i often wake up drenched with sweat and my boyfriend says there is an odor in my apt. and one of your other videos you said to get rid of the thing that’s causing the odor. I can’t do that. So my place smells even though I can’t smell it. I just have to change my clothes, pajamas and sheets as much as possible.
It's so great that you have an understanding boyfriend who is willing to help out. And yes, frequent washing of the clothes and linens is important to keep the room clean and odor free. Not always easy, but important to your health.
Fabreeze is another product that help eliminate odor on fabric, spray on & air drys quickly. Body sweat, odor & oils compound odors on permeable surfaces so also make sure your mattress & pillows are protected. Blankets, curtains, couch, chair fabric as well as carpets can hold odors too. Fabreeze can be used on those things too. Launder what can be washed.
If you have a mattress casing you don't need to clean the mattress itself because that is barrier protection. And if your mattress has sheets on it most of the time, there shouldn't be a reason to clean it. There are people who sprinkle baking soda on their uncovered mattresses (without casings) and let it set while they was the linens to absorb smells or body odors. You can vacuum that right off with a vacuum attachment on the end of a vacuum hose.
If you are just talking about a home - 2 sets per bed. If it's an Airbnb, 3 sets. One I would leave in a guest closet in the event that the guest had an accident (threw up or something) and needed to change the bed sheets without calling the host to come back to the property to reset the bed - and then one set for the wash between guests.
Does anyone have a recommendation for a brand or type of sheet that can be washed weekly in Hot/Sanitized water temperatures? I’m looking for sheets that will hold up. I’ve tried a few and they all claim warm or cold. Given my allergies, I’d like to use the Sanitized setting on my Steam Washers and Driers. Also sometimes certain stains require more heat to breakup and remove. I’ve had bad luck so far some sheets lasting only a few weeks or months before having noticeable wear in different ways. Thanks!
Lots of Bed and Breakfast owners in our network buy the Charisma brand of bedding from Costco. www.costco.com/charisma-400-thread-count-6-piece-sheet-set.product.100460908.html It is durable, stands up to frequent washing, high temperatures and is affordable.
I bought 4 sets for my Master Bedroom and they are amazing. I feel like I’m staying at a 5 star hotel. Lol I bought 4 because the Costco sign had the dreaded asterisk on the sign which means they don’t plan to restock the item.
@@AskAngelaBrown the link isn't found. I guess they don't sell them anymore. Any other suggestions? I've bought a couple sets recently and they were thin and slept hot. I looking for thick heavy duty soft sheets.
Once twice a month 💯every day is to extreme. Do you want to think about the planet too as well? All that washing and wasting water is not good. People will survive without washing their sheets over a month even💯💯💯
Thanks for your comment! I agree that everyday washing is extreme unless you're sick. Once a week is a good balance for cleanliness and environmental impact, but you should do what you feel comfortable with.
It's nice to have an extra set so you can have one on the beds while you're washing the others. This is a survival tool of BNB's where they have guests coming right as the others are leaving. :-)

When considering which one to buy, look at the cost of the filter replacements as well and the frequency of changing them.
It all depends..do you shower before bed, do you wear pajamas, and how clean is the room. Ps. Because i dont wash my hair daily( nighly) i change the pillow case daily.
Thank you for your feedback and thanks for watching. 🙂
I love clean sheets too. Thanks so much for writing in : )
I wash the linens once a week and dust ceiling fan weekly. I wash our pillows once a month.
That's great, thank you for sharing and thanks for watching. 🙂
I do mine every other week!
Good to know, thanks for sharing your input!
Can you or have you done a video about cleaning the mattress? I always see the baking soda and vacuum idea. Thanks
@@gratitude7397 what kind d of mattress topper did you get?
I bath before I go to bed sleep alone in a queen bed change my linen once a week in winter but summer twice a week
Thank you for your feedback and thanks for watching. 🙂
Phyllis Diller once said,"I wash my sheets once a year, wether they need it or not"! Lol! Do mine weekly.Retired, live alone.I think if you're young,w.boyfriend etc.. ,and active 💝,you should do more often!Wink wink!
Hahaha...thanks for sharing and thanks for watching. 🙂
I line my trashcans with 5 bags at a time. Then you just remove the top bag. Ive also done this with fitted sheets. One over the other. Remove top sheet and wash with flat sheet. Make bed with fresh clean flat sheet. Saves me time.
Thanks for the time saving tips. I love hearing about systems like this. :-)
Love your videos! I change my bed sheet often, every few days because I feel that it is the part that gets the most ‘dirty’, pillow cases usually go at the same time but not always since I got protectors. I admit I am a bit lazy with changing the duvet cover itself, perhaps once a week or just over. 🤭
Thank you for sharing and thanks for watching. 🙂
Some great tips, thank you.
Yay! Thanks for watching. :-)
Every day??? That is great if you have your own washer and dryer, but many of us do not. I wash my sheets every other week. It is just me and I just sleep on these sheets. Now that it is hard to get quarters for laundry machines that is about as often as I can do this.
Thank you for your feedback and thanks for watching. 🙂
Uhhg tell me about it my husband sometimes eats on the bed 🛏 and guess who has to clean up and wash the linens 🤦♀️🙋🏽♀️🙋🏽♀️🙋🏽♀️
Yup
Oh no...sorry that you have to deal with that. Definitely not fun!

I told my husband he’s not allowed to eat anywhere but the dining room..same goes to my son.
It sounds like you're juggling a lot! Maybe finding small pockets of time or delegating tasks can help ease the load a bit.
If we did EVERYTHING we are supposed to, as OFTEN as we are supposed to, we cannot work 8 hours a day also and ever simply enjoy life. People live just fine without all this overkill.
Thanks for sharing your opinion. I appreciate you stopping by. :-)
Why watch a cleaning channel then? People work eight hours a day and still clean their homes. 😎
That is a really sad story. I don't know what to say but thanks for sharing. :-)
Same here! It's a big task because my bed is positioned the same way as you described!
Yes, that’s too often. Maybe shower and wash/dry your hair before you go to bed so that your sheets will stay clean longer.
Great that’s what I do
YES! Keep me posted. I'm here rooting for you.
As a single, older adult, I change my bed every 2 weeks. I change my pillowcase weekly. I go to bed clean. I wear PJs. I don't sweat much. If I am sick, I change the bed daily. I use the same bath towel for a week....I hang it so that it dries well daily.
This sounds like an excellent plan that is well designed. Thanks for sharing. :-)
Angela Brown :
I know many of bachelor who doesn't wash their sheets but a couple times a year... What is the negative consequences of that?
If the bachelors sleep 8 hours a night (that is technically 1/3rd of a 24-hour day = 1/3rd of your life) with bed sheets wrapped all around your body like underwear - and only washed a couple of times per year... the negative consequences are they will probably stay bachelors. 😂😂😂
I wash my bedding 10-14 days but I always shower before bed and stay clean etc. i also rotate bed sheets at times
Thanks for sharing your routine with us.
i’m on medication that makes me perspire. there is nothing i can do to stop it. i often wake up drenched with sweat and my boyfriend says there is an odor in my apt. and one of your other videos you said to get rid of the thing that’s causing the odor.
Weekly

Should I wash my pillow protector/mattress protector every week too? For bedsheets I normally wash em once in 2 weeks or whenever I feel I'm dirty. 😂
Sure, if you're already washing your bedsheets, you should wash those items too. Thanks for watching!
I clean my sheets every 2 weeks but now i will clean them every1 week. Do i need to clean the pillow too?
Consider using pillow protectors. They work as an additional barrier and help to keep your pillows fresh between washes extending their lifespan
I change my sheets and clean my bedroom once a week and keep it clean during the week.
YES! That's what we're talking about. High Five for a job well done! :-)
How often should I change my wash cloths ?
If you are a homeowner, daily (for showers and washing faces, or dishes)
And if you are a house cleaner, several times during the clean.
@@AskAngelaBrown I am a teenager with questions no I am not a home owner I am a mother also with kids living at home .
Should I be cleaning my mattress? If so, how?
If you have a mattress casing you don't need to clean the mattress itself because that is barrier protection. And if your mattress has sheets on it most of the time, there shouldn't be a reason to clean it. There are people who sprinkle baking soda on their uncovered mattresses (without casings) and let it set while they was the linens to absorb smells or body odors. You can vacuum that right off with a vacuum attachment on the end of a vacuum hose.
I washed my sheets regular every week..But when the pandemic started I whased every couple days
Excellent advice. During the pandemic lots of people caught up on missed sleep so they were using their bedding more as well. Thanks for sharing this.
How many sets of bed sheets do you recommend having for each bed in order to be able to launder bed sheets at least once a week?
If you are just talking about a home - 2 sets per bed. If it's an Airbnb, 3 sets. One I would leave in a guest closet in the event that the guest had an accident (threw up or something) and needed to change the bed sheets without calling the host to come back to the property to reset the bed - and then one set for the wash between guests.
Victoria Clemmons
At least 2-4, so they won't wear out too quickly, with lots of pillowcases.
I change our bedding, bottom sheet, duvet cover plus pillowcases once a week. Last count for my superking bed I have 32 sets. Kinda addictive😂🇬🇧
My6 70+# black lab sleeps in my bed. I can't be fastidious! (And I am relatively healthy for being 79 yrs old!)
Thank you for your feedback and thanks for watching. 🙂
Ever bed in my house has two bed sheets and extra pillows cases.
It's nice to have an extra set so you can have one on the beds while you're washing the others. This is a survival tool of BNB's where they have guests coming right as the others are leaving. :-)
How about the married couples?
Every week and more often if necessary. LOL. Excellent question. 😍
Every week . Sunday is wash bedding day.🤠
Love that!
I wash pillows and duvet and under mattress protector at the end of the month is that OK or do I need to do it say every 2 weeks. Please let me know. Thanks
I make sure to change my sheets once a year, whether they need it or not.

Q: concentrated Clorox bleach "we use to cleaning clothes"(NOT DIN), Can we use THAT to make solution for COVID disinfection and cleaning floor, glass, metal etc? Thank you so much

How often should wash pillows?
Are these pillow cases on the bed or throw pillows on a couch? If on the bed, the cases can be washed with the sheets unless they need it more often.
I mean the actual pillows themselves
When your sheets crawl to the washing machine?
ROFL. Yes, if your sheets crawl themselves to the washing machine it's time to clean them. :-)

Thanks for doing this. I know lots of people just do it when they remember - not necessarily on a schedule.
Angela Brown in summer every 2 days but winter every 4 or 5 days
Speaking of bed bugs… do you have a video on infestation?
Look into FOOD GRADE diatomaceous earth. It isnt a chemical solution but kills bugs with exoskeletons by creating scratches in their protective covering and acting as a desiccant. Heat works, too.
We did a video a few years back ruclips.net/video/hQfHcGD9WB8/видео.html
Just be sure to not inhale the diatomaceous earth. It very hazardous to your lungs.
