Losing Hodgson is their biggest problem. When you have an older squad and potential relegation fight on your hands, you need a manager with experience in the premier league. I hope Vieira proves me wrong and they stay up, but I just can't see it

Both explayers with little to no manager experience who created the best two young teams to ever grace Selhurst. Who knows Viera may be the next. Time will tell. The board have made a very bold move, ltes hope it doesnt backfire.
As a Crystal Palace fan I would say most of this is fair but the defensive solidity/organization you mentioned definitely deserted us last year. I think we conceded the 3rd most in the whole league (66 goals) and took several heavy beatings. We also had a stodgy midfield and would often replace one slow defensive midfielder with another even when behind. It is also fair to say that all the players out of contract are out of contract for a reason. Several are on high salaries, and others are reaching the age when they cannot play at this level. I hope Ward, Townsend, Cahill and Clyne are offered new contacts but the rest are past their best. The success of the season will depend on getting 4-5 great new players and incorporating some of the talented academy players into the squad. I’m hopeful this can be done.
Well researched. I was expecting the usual set of Palace clichés and ignorance. Spot on in general. Perhaps one omission is that our investment in the academy is very recent. We have a reputation for developing good players but that has been solely down to the huge pool of talent in South London and good coaching. We have only had a tier 1 academy for a year but our under 18s almost won the southern prem league in their fist season.
I think Palace is a lot more solid than people give them credit for. Yes this is a transitional period that needs to be accounted for by signing and developing players, but Hodgson isn't the only Palace head coach that has been a part of this 8 year run. Parish is an excellent Chairman in my view.
Experience and youth combined . The new manager will use our youth when it is right . Eze a huge upset. As a palace supporter since the 60s we have lived through worse. Always live in hope the new manager could be good.
I think the opposite, I think they’ll finish around 13-14th place thanks to Patrick Vieira having a lot of management experience, he did fantastic with Nice in France & I think the same if he has a good budget.
At least what I remember from his time at NYCFC, he has a very similar approach to Frank De Boer. Should be fun for Palace fans. Allow him to possibly rebuild and bring in HIS players and he might do well. Only if the ownership have faith in him.
I'd like to see bit more not prem related content from you . Maybe something about Arminia's upcoming relegation struggle season (probably), Frankfurt's issues with losing Trainer, Sporting Director and important players, ore even something about Bochum who were out of the Bundesliga for quite a while and are now back. I'm not that familiar with Spain or Italy but I think there also would be interesting teams to talk about.
The transfer policy under Woy was so woeful. I’ve heard we’ll be spending as much as £80 million this summer (and potentially more of Zaha departs) so hopefully we can restructure
I love watching your analysis on pretty much everything regarding football. I would like to see a similar one about Werder Bremen. They got relegated, have close to no money and I'm almost certain that next season they will finish somewhere between 7th-12th place. How about a "What's going on at Werder Bremen?"
I hope Palace do ok for a few reasons: as a Gooner, Vieira is a legend and I wish him well but also Palace is the nearest football league club to where I live in Brixton, South London (Dulwich Hamlet need to move up a few divisions to take on that honour lol). Hopefully, Vieira can use connections at City & Arsenal to sign some people like Nelson
Do players actually put in transfer requests these days? I thought they tried to avoid that so they can claim a "loyalty" bonus when they force a move.
@@omo2786 You would think so, but football contracts are funny. Adabayor spent an entire season complaining about wanting to leave Spurs, but when the chance finally did come he turned it down because Spurs wouldn't pay him his "loyalty" bonus even though he claimed he was owed it because he never asked officially for a transfer
@@jcronin3155 we've been on the downfall for a couple of years. After that time we made the play-offs its been a downward trajectory. Now things seem to be improving but there has been a lot of drama both on the pitch and behind the scenes. There's a ton of material for an in depth look at the club. Thats why I suggested SWFC. 👀🦉
I think palace will be fine. Olise is already signing and with Eze, Zaha and Benteke we'll finally have a strong attack - no ankle will survive the season. Cm is the problem atm but jaïro and Schlupp are solid and a couple of signings will do the world of good. Ferguson and Mitchell have the potential to be the next AWBs and Guaita is so underrated. Kouyate, Cahill, Sakho are decent, but a young signing like Guehi could help there. Plus I've heard Vieira will get 80m 👀
Haha benteke is good but he dosent score eze is terrible without the ball, zaha is too greedy and olise is unproven and rarely scored for reading. Sakho and cahill are gone. Players like schrupp, jairo are poor and weren't 1st choice last year
This could either go really well or really bad no in-between I've started to like palace more and more and the fact they've stayed in the prem this long goes unnoticed. They've done a fantastic job for a club of that size to stay in the prem for almost 9 seasons.
What happened to Liverpool players, who were talked about so much, also had the potential to perform, but could not. Where are they now? Rossiter, Ibe, Kelly, Robinson, Spearing, Ince, Flanagan, Wisdom, Teixiera, Chirevilla, Ojo, Kent, Hoever, Wilson, Woodburn.
Loved this as a palace fan. Have some reservations about Viera but I’m backing him and, great managers have to start somewhere so who’s to say he can’t do a good job
Which teams would that be? Norwich have strengthened well and Watford look on par with palace. Only other teams that would be scared is Soton and potentially Brighton. If Zaha leaves it’s curtains
Norwich look good, Farke is a great manager and they have some real talent. That only leaves Watford and Brentford. Brighton, Newcastle, Southampton etc are in a better position than you lot. You really need to hope for a miracle.
I think they will be ok !! Hodgson was a good manager but Vieira will be a change in direction and style and I think if they are able to recruit well they should be ok .
Need to see what business they do first - but as things stand when you combine Vieira's relative inexperience and the whole contact situation it doesn't look rosy.
I hope not, even tho am a Liverpool fan, I seen Patrick at airport and asked him for photo with my daughter who spotted him as she is football crazy. Not only did photos but sat down and talked to my daughter about her football with Northamptonshire FA girls. Playing for rushden diamonds. What pure gent and lovely guy. He did say he played a friendly at rushden diamonds about 20 years ago. I did tell when chairman max died the club fell apart and now only small club.
I as an arsenal fan want more than anyone for Viera to succeed. But considering Viera's managerial record till now,it will be a miracle just to not finish rock bottom.
A miracle to not finish rock bottom is a bit of an exaggeration to say the least. However Im really worried for the club things have not been looking promising the last 2 years..
@@lalitthapa101 I'm not to optimistic about next season either and i think it will be a tough one but i still believe there is enough quality in this squad to survive as we showed last season. Some good signings will be inevitable though because otherwise we may be in big trouble.
A couple years later and it looks like Roy Hogdson is doing well I think they can bring back Olise, and while they will lose Zaha, they have a strong youth academy. I believe they will be the surprise 2nd EPL team in the PL alongside Man United.

Great video but criticise James McCarthurs work rate again and we're gonna have problems. He's always palaces top player for distance covered even as he is getting older that's why fans love him so much.

But to be honest, he needs to stay calm, teach & let the players do their thing! Shouting at them won't do any good, I mean you don't imagine Roy shouting at them after 7-0 defeat to LFC & they were still fine

Experience and youth combined . The new manager will use our youth when it is right . Eze a huge upset. As a palace supporter since the 60s we have lived through worse. Always live in hope the new manager could be good.
I think the opposite, I think they’ll finish around 13-14th place thanks to Patrick Vieira having a lot of management experience, he did fantastic with Nice in France & I think the same if he has a good budget.
pretty close prediction
At least what I remember from his time at NYCFC, he has a very similar approach to Frank De Boer. Should be fun for Palace fans. Allow him to possibly rebuild and bring in HIS players and he might do well. Only if the ownership have faith in him.
So much of this video reminds me of what was said about moyes and west ham last season 😅
Facts
How the turns have tabled
Palace is the Loki of the Premier League- they survive. And let's hope for a bit of mischief, too...
Zaha is burdened with glorious purpose.
Everyone used to say that about Stoke and Sunderland, they stuck around for years but eventually fell through the trapdoor
Probably one of my favorite videos you’ve done!
The Olise signing gives me a bit of optimism that Palace is trying to survive.
The transfer policy under Woy was so woeful. I’ve heard we’ll be spending as much as £80 million this summer (and potentially more of Zaha departs) so hopefully we can restructure
The burn on Michael was brutal 😂😂
Zaha put in a transfer request? Ah summer how I’ve missed you
Do players actually put in transfer requests these days? I thought they tried to avoid that so they can claim a "loyalty" bonus when they force a move.
@@MrSniperfox29 I mean he's been asking for a move for about 4 years now surely any loyalty bonus is well gone.
Newcomer to this channel. It’s thoroughly enjoyable well done 👍
If London was an independent nation, what would be the squad and how would they do?
That's a good idea.
Sheffield Wednesday documentary please👀 great video as always 🙏🏼💯
Why does he have to do it on Wednesday?
@@jcronin3155 we've been on the downfall for a couple of years. After that time we made the play-offs its been a downward trajectory. Now things seem to be improving but there has been a lot of drama both on the pitch and behind the scenes. There's a ton of material for an in depth look at the club. Thats why I suggested SWFC. 👀🦉
What a headline! Absolutely disgraceful
That’s a lot of confidence in the new manager
I always fear for Palace's EPL status at the start of the season, I'm fearing ever more now.
How're you feeling now?
Players like schrupp, jairo are poor and weren't 1st choice last year
Currently playing seriously sexy football under Viera.
Dont look doomed at all...🦅
This could either go really well or really bad no in-between I've started to like palace more and more and the fact they've stayed in the prem this long goes unnoticed. They've done a fantastic job for a club of that size to stay in the prem for almost 9 seasons.
This sounds good for an FIFA CM save
What happened to Liverpool players, who were talked about so much, also had the potential to perform, but could not. Where are they now? Rossiter, Ibe, Kelly, Robinson, Spearing, Ince, Flanagan, Wisdom, Teixiera, Chirevilla, Ojo, Kent, Hoever, Wilson, Woodburn.
Wilson still might
Looking good for top half finish and no relegation dog fight after draw (should have won) and the fine summer signing up of fine players.
Day 58: Indonesia XI If All Eligible Players Had Declared For Them
Loved this as a palace fan. Have some reservations about Viera but I’m backing him and, great managers have to start somewhere so who’s to say he can’t do a good job
Well he was terrible in the MLS and at nice in France, only getting the job on name alone
Hello and welcome to HITC SEVENS
ALL RIGHT...
There’s still at least 3 teams worse than us. If we scrape a few decent results we can carry on rebuilding COYP🔴🔵
Arsenal is one of the three
Which teams would that be? Norwich have strengthened well and Watford look on par with palace. Only other teams that would be scared is Soton and potentially Brighton. If Zaha leaves it’s curtains
Norwich look good, Farke is a great manager and they have some real talent. That only leaves Watford and Brentford. Brighton, Newcastle, Southampton etc are in a better position than you lot. You really need to hope for a miracle.
@@JM_Karting02 Palace > Norwich, Newcastle, Brighton
@@JM_Karting02 the 3 teams I’d say are Soton, Brentford and Watford
I think they will be ok !! Hodgson was a good manager but Vieira will be a change in direction and style and I think if they are able to recruit well they should be ok .
Crystal Palace documentary and then a Vlog soon👀❤❤❤❤
Day 199:Vietnam XI if all eligible players had declared for them:Yohan Cabaye,Patrik Le Giang,Alexander Dang
and Filip Nguyen
@@damasek219 Exactly
@@hothitrieuminh5967 soryy to say this but Vietnam will not qualify for the wc... with 0 wins in the qualifying
@@Jl-mt4kp That's the best thing we could do in qualify WC.Imagine we through
Sorry to say, but no one cares about Vietnamese football. You will be doing this for 199,000 days and there will still be no video.
Need to see what business they do first - but as things stand when you combine Vieira's relative inexperience and the whole contact situation it doesn't look rosy.
Crystal Palace just released half ot their squad they need to sign someone or they would be in a relegation scrap
Half their squad is ded wood
@@danielkelly3832 I'm actually really sure Palace will get relegated.
If Viera actually manages to survive next season then that would be a success.
@@lalitthapa101 I'm not to optimistic about next season either and i think it will be a tough one but i still believe there is enough quality in this squad to survive as we showed last season. Roys sometimes unpragmatic coaching cost us many points last season. Instead of playing the likes of Mateta he still persisted with players like Ayew and refused to make substitions when was needed. Some good signings will be inevitable though because otherwise we may be in big trouble.
Best intro yet!!!
Palace will be fine. No need to worry
Tony Pulis is already getting ready to be helicoptered in after 5 games.
Top ten in EPL right now.
This looking a bit different 3 months on.
A couple years later and it looks like Roy Hogdson is doing well
I think they can bring back Olise, and while they will lose Zaha, they have a strong youth academy. I believe they will be the surprise 2nd EPL team in the PL alongside Man United.
This aged well.
Good start of the documentary
I think Crystal Palace will stay up
South east London team club
I think Crystal Palace will need to add to a few players they already have
Add one or two reserve under 23 players to who they have
Interesting watching this back now!
Very good summary 👏
Great video but criticise James McCarthurs work rate again and we're gonna have problems. He's always palaces top player for distance covered even as he is getting older that's why fans love him so much.
I think this season will test Patrick Vieira's ability to stay calm, he just looks like a manager who would be arrogant because he's a EPL legend and know more than his players! But to be honest, he needs to stay calm, teach & let the players do their thing! Shouting at them won't do any good, I mean you don't imagine Roy shouting at them after 7-0 defeat to LFC & they were still fine
At least palace have got eze that kids a baller and has tons of potential…
Eze is awesome, but sadly he tore his Achilles at the end of last season, so he’ll definitely be out for at least a portion of this upcoming season
He is a great player I would love to see him at a big club
@@Tdr-jv2nc okay first off palace is already a big club
@@pjkerrigan20 hahahahahahahahaha
@@pjkerrigan20 palace isn't a big club would say they are a low/medium sized club
Looking forward to the semi final vlog
Or they could do a west ham and get European football after having looked shocking the season prior
I may be wrong, but Viera won't see the January transfer window.
