I knew a lady who said worked remotely in IT for Healthcare workers. She was called out to a site due to them having an issue. 3 separate people reassured her that a particular switch was turned on. So after she drove 2 hours to the site, she just had to turn the one switch on.
I worked in IT for about 40 years. I know of at least two people who thought the cd tray was meant to be a cup holder. And a friend told me that his grandmother thought that the mouse was a footpedal, like in old-fashioned sewing machines. This show has one of the best depictions of IT/nerd culture that I've seen. And it's hilarious without being insulting, like The Big Bang Theory
@@GarrettJayChristianI don't find it that way at all. It's just a silly show that plays on stereotypes (like nearly every sitcom). It's only insulting if you're overly sensitive and easily offended, which most people nowadays are. And even if you are offended by something, so what? Nothing happens when you're offended. Lighten up... Not to mention, the I.T. Crowd is not much different. It plays on the fact that IT people are nerds (most of them aren't) and that those nerds are losers (most of them aren't). It's just comedy.
1x4 is one of my favorites. Noel Fielding as his usual off-beat self as Richmond, Denholm's ridiculous reactions, even the amazing detail of the translucent blood red wrapping for the Cradle of Filth CD. Also, Cradle of Filth is a real band that's been around since '91.
It took me a while to figure out the fundamental difference between American and British television. I knew I prefered British TV, especially comedies on the whole. Basically, American TV is a producer's medium, but British TV is a writer's medium. There's very rarely a writer's room, usually just 1 or 2 writer's who are also the creators of the show. That's part of the reason for short seasons. American network television has been all about getting the biggest audience and keeping them as long as possible, not about bringing someone's vision to life. It also means much less network interference. The really strange thing is that the British have been moving more towards the American style of milking anything popular to death while the Americans have been trying to be more creative due to the rise of streaming.
The female goth groupies & fans of Noel Fielding's "The Mighty Boosh" would turn up at Pinewood Studios on a record night regularly just on the off-chance Noel would be there!! 😂😂 To Noel Fielding's credit though if he made an appearance he would always come out and visit the fans who had turned up for him & spend a lot of time with them. His popularity back then really surprised me 😯
After watching countless reactions between Brits and Americans across all manner of skits and shows and movies the following example shows a lot about the difference between how Brits and Americans think: "You've got shit on your head" *British person:* She thinks he has shit on his head, I wonder what it actually is. "You've got shit on your head" *American person:* omg he has shit on his head.
You've mentioned in this video and the last one that you find the series length of 6 episodes quite unusual for a TV show. In the UK that's how it is and what you'd expect for most British shows, especially for a sitcom. In fact in the UK it'd be rare for a TV series to contain as many episodes as a typical American TV show. In Britain most TV series on average are around 6 episodes long.
If you are a bit of a nerd, I think you said you were in the last video, watch out for the geek references to pop culture. Remember Moss doing the knife risk stab thing around his fingers in your last video? Straight from the film Aliens.
Six episodes is about the norm for British sitcoms. Trust me when we say that there are no bad episodes of The IT Crowd, and it just gets better and better each season.
This series gets into some dubious territory later on, unfortunately, but this season in particular is brilliant. I love Chris Morris as Denholm Reynholm!
The IT Crowd if anything is consistently funny, but you're also going to find out that there are some genuine standout episodes. I'm not going to name any of them by title because I don't want to set expectations in you. You'll know when you get to them.
English shows put a lot more time into writing each episode unlike American shows that have rooms full of people churning out episodes. A quality over quantity sort of thing

To be fair, the CD tray does make a pretty good cup holder. You can pick them up 5 for $5 at an electronics surplus store.
Did anyone ever accuse you of being a desk rabbit?
The Big Bang Theory is completely insulting. 😂

@@xtraspecialjyou sounded easily insulted and offended by his statement LoL

Yup totally agree. I'm British and most comedies in the uk these days are dire. So sad as they were pure gold in the good old days.
God I forgot how much I LOVE JEN'S LAUGHTER!!!!
A lot of British shows are between 4 and 10 episodes per series. Compared to US shows which frequently run 16-24 episodes per season.
The main mariachi player is Graham Linehan the creator and writer of the show. He makes one cameo appearance every season.
The it crowd is a brilliant comedy a journey for you to witness with out spoilers. I,t. Has come a long way since this was made.

Wait until season 2 (not a long wait), that's when this show really takes off and is hilarious!

This is one of the funniest shows ever…glad you found it..!
Ah, Richmond, the Phantom of the Server Room.
Interesting to see Vince Noir is transported out of Mighty Boosh into a realm full of failed IT interns
I love Richmond

Yeah great fun!!
I need this.

I hate when people overhype that episode thereby making it less surprising how funny it is.
This is the UK we don't make longer than necessary it is not like the US
Hi Shad!! I imagine you're list must be huge, but I'd recommend watching Johnny Depp's, Rango!!! It's amazing and I'd say super underrated. Love!

👍
I actually found a “Cradle Of Filth” CD one time..I was laughing so hard in the store. It was in the 3 buck sale bin, of course..
I have all their albums
