I seen Titanic in 1997 at the cinema, the special effects and CGI were incredible for that era. A film ahead of it's time. It is a frictional love story but it works perfectly because where it's at "The Titanic" one of the greatest movies ever made.

People saying the trailer spoiled the movie, first if you know history then you know what happened to the ship, but have any of you seen the trailer for The first Avatar? Cameron did the same thing. He trusts the audience to show up for his movies and has such faith in his films so much that he has no problem with Trailers that generally give away the majority of the story to sell the film. That’s why he’s great!
It's essentially a 4 minute version of the entire movie, beat by beat.

Titanic is one of the all time great films that will always be remembered. Leonardo DiCaprio and Kate Winslet are magic together onscreen and every other aspect of the film was also equally brilliant - the score, the costumes, the art direction, cinematography, the supporting actors...everything.
Although Avatar broke titanic box office record .. Titanic is bigger globally .. what other film can say that ? This is a movie that’s transcends by language
This original trailer feels EXACTLY like Terminator 2 for some reason. James Cameron's 90s style was his best work.
I'll never forget the first time I saw this trailer. It was shown with Seven Year's in Tibet with Brad Pitt in the fall of 1997. It blew me away and I couldn't wait to see it.

I have watched this movie 4 times and I feel no issues with watching it again. It’s so amazing to see remakes of events that happen over a 100 years ago. Especially when so much effort is put into it. Can’t imagine that it actually took 160 hours to make the movie and that the cast suffered colds, kidney infection including Kate Winslet after spending so long in the cold water just to make this movie. Like wow
Yep, my wife and I went to see it in the theater in the first few weeks after it came out. It was so good we had to go see it again a week or two later. And of course we bought it on the two tape VHS release. LOL. I have no idea how many times that got viewed.
I just re-watched the 4th time last night on Amazon Prime Video. My heart was aching very badly.

My mom always likes to recount the time Titanic came out and how every three weeks, she'd drop me off to my dad's to see it like 8 times. She said nothing compares to the experience of seeing it in the theater, like you were in the actual movie. She cried every time, probably one of the most 90s thing my mom remembers doing. I never knew about her love affair with Titanic at the time 😂

Brilliant, brilliant film saw it at the cinema in 1997. During one scene, I looked behind me and a row of girls where in tears. Sobbing openly. I've never seen a film move anyone like that.

It wasn’t usual to see an over 4 minute trailer for a film. Usually, trailers are 2-2 1/2 minutes. It was unique.

I bought this movie day 1 on VHS which I still own. I bought a special collector's edition on DVD and now I own the 3D bluray edition of the movie that is fully remastered. Also, I saw it 6 times in the movie theaters. I'd be lying to myself if this wasn't the greatest movie ever made, as far as I'm concerned.
What I felt during the dream sequence at the end of the film was unrivaled then and even now still stands as the greatest moment in all of cinema. I will never forget what this movie made me me feel. I have never felt anything like it in my life.

it’s interesting you can tell that in this trailer they often used different takes of dialogue than what ended up in the movie and there are even shots in it that didn’t make the final cut! makes me think of how long it must have taken them to do it all. such a feat!

Usually spoiling the end of the movie in the trailer is a terrible idea but James Cameron himself said that knowing the Titanic's demise is coming adds more significance to the romance. (as does the romance give emotional weight to the inevitable tragedy)
This trailer just serves as a synopsis for the entire plot and gives you the most honest taste of what you're about to see.

Another time on German TV, like every year!! But it never gets boring. James Cameron has a talent for creating a fascinating new world with his movies. Also with Avator... You always have a different feeling when you watch Titanic, even while I have watched it a million times. I remember sitting with my girlfriends (from the stable I went to everyday to take care of the ponies in 1998 and to do horseback riding regularly) in the movie theatre to watch this movie. I had so much fun with these girls I will never ever forget. I remember when we watched this scene where they showed the close up of Leonardo's beautiful blue eyes, many girls were like "awwwwww"... LOL!!! Leonardo was with Titanic and Romeo and Juliet the dream guy of every teenage girl. He looked really good in this movie. But now I don't like guys with babyfaces, so I am glad he looks a lot older now LOL!! I also love the music! It was probably the first time I liked Celines vocal performance as I don't like her belts as she has some strange sound to her voice when she belts. But that's just my opinion and others might like it. She is definitely a great singer, I just sometimes don't like the sound!! I love "Nearer my God to thee" and I wish I could play it on the cello!!! I also love the vocal performance of the singer that sings the opening theme and I love singing that!! And I love the piano part that is called "Rose's Theme" and I wish I could play it on the piano. Well, at least it sounds decent when I sing the theme... Not "My heart will go on" , I mean the singing part that they play during the movie a lot. I think it's called "A life so changed". RIP James Horner!

The music alone is what sells this film.
James Horner was a genius and he knew how lemotifs and orchestras could capture the essence of the story. I'm so glad he worked on this movie, this, "Casper" and the Universal Pictures 75th Anniversary fanfare are his best works, IMO.
Today is 19 years since this movie was released.
I can't wait to see this masterpiece return to IMAX 3D for Valentine's
