To everyone who says i suck, you do not understand the purpose of what this video is about, its NOT about owning the enemy, its about showing all the possibilities this game offers, all ways you can die, all moves, etc....
So anyone who comments that i suck will get blocked, not because he is correct that i play "bad" in this video, but for not reading this video info before commenting!
One of my favorite 2 player games - i always played this with friends. -
Disclaimer: Most videos by World of Longplays use SaveStates!
This really brings back memories. I used to play this all the time on my A500!
me too
after the school i visit every day a friend and we played it, nice memorys :)
I can't tell you how much I loved this game back in the day - bloody classic!
For the first time, a game where world of longplays play worse than me.
Tip: Against the computer, just use the horsemen and ignore the rest. Quickly charge and slice all of them, starting from cannon. You never lose a battle, even with one horse against a whole army.
Tears in my eyes... time simply flies...
and it's been almost 30 years ago that I played this game thanks to a cousin of mine who had an Amiga 500 in the early 90's...
Simple times that don't come back anymore
I absolutely loved this game when I was a kid. It probably helped that it was the only Amiga game I owned that worked consistently.
Thanks for up loading this, i spent many afternoons playing this with my mate when we were kids. The sounds bring back so many memories. You put a smile on my face today:)
They should make this in to an App
Childhood memories coming back... Thanks for uploading :D
Thanks for adding this video on youtube, It was my favourite game on amiga when I was a child. I didnt remember the title of this, but it was about 15 years ago.... I used to play it with my borther all the time, Thanks again for the great memories :)
I used to play this game for hours on the NES. I always thought the fort and train levels were excessively unforgiving. It just moved too quickly. Another great longplay cubex55!
one of my favorite games thanks for the upload, takes me back 20 years
This brings back some great memories - loved this game, especially playing with 2-players, while drunk. So many strategy games were boring as hell on the 16-bits, North and South made up for it.
OMG this game was my childhood xD
haha same here, so many hours playing this with my brother on Amiga!!
this was my first game ever on the amiga 500. i had much fun playing it. it was very good. first day i played it in monochrome because i plugged the cable to the monitor in the wrong place. on the next day i tried again and was very happy to play it with colours^^
oh wow that reminds me i did the exact same thing with batman, I'd bought the batman amiga 500 pack and for much of the first day I played it in black and white, we were going to take it all back before realising what I'd done wrong.
good story
Thanks so much for posting this. I've tried emulators and such but it's so good just to watch a nostalgic "movie" of old Commodore times. This game really got me into learning about the US civil war when I was a kid. So much so, I'm actually part of a civil war reinactmant group nowadays in the UK (they do exist over here!) Got the Kepi hat and jacket, yet to buy the horse and pants/boots yet though...
I was devastated when my diskette with North and South stopped working :D. Aww, good ol' memories :). Thanks man. I was playing that with my brother 15 years ago :P
I'm so glad you clicked on the photographers arse, I don't even need to watch the rest of the video, you've made my day. Cheers :)
I LOVED this game!! One of my faves growing up!! Funny how I’ve just been playing red dead redemption 2 and how games have changed over time. Still, this had amazing playability and the thing about games back then, u could use your imagination (a bit like reading a book because you had limited data) and that’s why I loved these titles 💚 ps thanks for uploading
I had forgotten about this gem! The only strategy game of this genre that I actually enjoyed.
I had forgotten about this gem! The only strategy game of this type that I actually enjoyed.
Thank you man, great video, and well played ScHlAuChi
oh my god one of the best games of all times
used to play it against my cousins so often...
thanks you so much...
I see, I was hoping it was something like that. Well, I'm kinda relieved to hear it, hahaha.
Good luck with your gaming and thanks again for posting a video of this game :)
@reptilemtk
Hey mate a tricky question...
It's either played on a real amiga with floppy disks or you play it on an amiga emulator on pc or whatever console, mac uses an amiga emulator....You can play it with the keyboard or the joystick....
And it's a multi-language version....You can choose the language in the beginning....
my god - its been nearly 20 years since i last saw this! i used to love it and played it for hours!
used to love the music sequences.
great job!
all animations & sounds i loved back in the days are included in 1 vid
6 un grande, mi hai fatt ricordare tenti bellissimi momenti davanti alla mia amata amiga. Grande!
One of my Favors in these old days.... many many houres are spendet with a friend.. hell what we laughed, sweared and cryed together hahahaha.... good old days :) Where games dont needed. DLC's, Creditcards, and Internet...
played this game so much as a kid, love it. my new GF took me to a comic store and i bought some of comics, to fill up my collection ^^ im so in love with this all over again!
Always had great fun with this game!
Great longplay, thanks for showing all the features! (except the train hijack)
One of the best games ever made
wow so many memories. thanks for uploading
6:45 LOL, those three soldiers against a lonely rider. Tense and exciting like an action movie!
i have been meaning to make a game like this for ages, great memories
It was the first video game I played when I was a child! I was 6 or 7 years old. A fantastic moment!
God damn this video just took me back. Just the music and sounds
Amiga 500 what a wonderful years..........
Hehe, at first I thought you'd never click on the photographers butt ;-). I spent ages on this game :-).
This game was so much fun, and so funny, too.
Of course, I always played for the SOUTH to win. I love the victory message one gets when overturning history. :D
Empire Total War, 30 years ago! lol. I loved this game, especially due to the awesome sounds it made.
Well spent childhood :D
aw, tears came to my eye, when I saw this. still seems familiar after 15 years. The very first comupter game I ever played on my brothers amiga. I was 6 and didnt even know what it was about, but I thought It was amazing.
One of my greatest times on a videogame with a friend in the 2 players mode... Endless laughing !
Soooo good memories with this game. Magic 1996-1997 :))))
If you want to play North & South, you can get an Amiga emulator, a Commodore 64 emulator or a Nintendo NES emulator. (or all 3). The NES emulator even has Kailer Client support for online PvP play. It's really fun to play against a real opponent.
I love this game, thank you very much for Longplaying it!!!!
So many fond memories of playing this game with my brother
Hammergeiles Spiel!!!!! Mensch, ist das schon lange her...
Ah, it's good to see this old game in action again :) Me and a friend used to design specific scenarios by cutting down units so only horses, riflemen etc remained.
Thanks for the video!
One of my favourite games ever!!
I love this game! Takes me right back to my childhood! :-))))
I loved this game.
One of the Great Ones... a true Classic!
Great game!!, but you are a bad player
He’s not very good is he, no wonder Germany most lost so many wars
Great video - I love the game!! Brings back memories - I always played the South :-)
I loved this game, many an evening was spent playing this. My favourite level were the bridge and river ones, knocking down the bridges as the enemy attacked. Great vid, pity he's a noob!
@cubex55
What are you talking about ... of course you could use two joysticks! Battlesquadron, Bubble Bobble, Silk Worm, Firepower, Battle Isle etc. were all played with two players and joysticks.
And in North & South you had to use keys anyways (to switch between infantry, artillery and cavallery)
Yeah genial. Old genial times, full of worth. Not corrupted like today. There is life in it. Genial
nice playtrough i have fond memories about this game
Ah... memories... One of the best games for Amiga. I also had hard times conquering fortresses or hijacking trains. :)
thats the game of my childhood...thanks for sharing it :)
Es un final bueno o malo?
N&S was my first strategy game, when i was 6 y.o. at '90 :) I have much sentiment to this title, by the way very good and funny game with good graphics as those times :)
WOW what memories, this is the most game I used to play on the amiga.
what a great game - I used to play this to death back in the day. 31:35. always used to be a turn up the volume and do a silly dance to it while pointing and laughing at the person who just lost an army
24:20 the last guy single-handedly beat the shit out of blue guy. Give that man a medal!
The trick that I used during my plays with A500 was to press quickly P (pause button) to obtain a slow motion assault so I was able to jump crates and above wall holes plus to launch immedaitely knives when enemies appeared from right at least for sergeant and captain dififculty, cause corporal was a straight run with near no obstacles (all too easy)
One of my favorite games, it is so fun to play :)
Does somebody know how to retreat from battle? (Esc doesn't work for me.) Or how to not move with an army (on the map) if you don't want to move?
Weiß jemand, mit welcher Tastenkombination man sich von einer Schlacht zurückziehen kann? (Esc funzt beim mir net.) Oder wie man mit einer Armee (auf der Karte) sich nicht bewegen muß, wenn man nicht will?
What year did this come out? I didn't even realize there was another version of this game! Oh man, I used to waste so many hours playing the NES version of this game with friends when I was a kid.
Aaaaw, shit wiggah! This brings back memories!
yo! epic playthrough. do u know where i can download a PC version of this game ?
I loved playing this day back in the day
what do the various options do? I've never seen the thunder cloud do anything or the cheif
the Y is missing in the monthes, maybe it was unused or something?
Used to love this. Great video thanks
I remember I liked to screw around in the menu, changing soldiers to different tunes and trolling the photographer constantly clicking on his arse. Also the battles, began my love with strategic games.
I love this game so much, thanks for posting the vid : )
aww god...big brother had this on his amiga...it rockt so mutch, heck even my dad who more of a computer geek then a game geek played it and we had so mutch fun...good times.
I use to love to play this game with my friends when i was kid....still think its good fun.!!
You said it - greetings from Germany, where I did play it the same time... feeling old,...
Where can i find this? Loved it as a kid!
I can't stop the tears..
This was a fun little game!
This is... atleast the art...Is based on a Belgian/French Comic called the Bluecoats.
Good stuff.
HA, Deutsch, ich wusste es doch. War auch eins meiner Lieblingsspiele. Es ging das Gerücht, dass man irgendwie gegen die Indianer kämpfen konnte (die Typen links auf der karte eben). Stimmt das eigentlich?
To everybody who's commenting that this player is a noob..They really don't now the player or what a longplay is...or haven't even played this game ever....I loved it back in the day when i was 12 years old ;-)
loved this game remember getting frustrated by the forts and hijacking the train!!
This is the most game I used to play on Amiga XD! I simply loved it!
Well at least I played it more then Empire total war :).
This got me into war-gaming. Then my wife left me and now I am a hitman.
@cubex55 u know where i can find roms ?
maaan i loved this game back in the days.. its so cool to see it again !!! :D wow, playing test drive on commodore, police quest... But anyone rembers that game where you were in a desert town and there were giant ants ?? it was soo exiting to play . a certain scary atmosphere
Those forts were really difficult to qonquer. Also train hijacks were pain.
man soooo cool I've played this game for so long when I was 12.... so much fun!
I'm looking for a DOS-game (for PC) with the same title but with less animation. You got a map of Northern America and it's more about troop forces, moral, generals, fortification...the game depth was very amazing for such a simple game;...I had it on my previous computer, but I can't find it back on the web :(
Best game I ever played!!!
Nostalgie!
Why don't they make em like that anymore? :( These games rocked. Reminds me of Imperialism 1 and 2 battles.
Was there a way to use 2 joysticks with Amiga? One player always had to use keys, and you couldn't get two keys activated at the same time, major disadvantage.
@cubex55 Whats the best port?
i played this game like crazy ! really great and fun game
Brilliant fun for two players!!!
