2) the Chain / Fleetwood Mac
3) Communication Breakdown/Mighty Zep
amazing demo @markagnesi Hi Jen 🎥🎸
Mike M. Jenny got busy with some new angles while filming M.A.📽 little headstock to the bridge action 👍
You hear Mark's voice crack XD
Ralph S. what a great demo, the white glazed donut is a cream puff 🎸🔥🔥🔥
Jacob Reece 😂👍🏼
Fender jazz 62 ah, the mighty Zep and the wizard Page on a cream puff ‘57 white guard. freakin awesomeness, and stellar jazz holiday tune, the dark circuit never sounded so good, couldn’t have picked a better tune. mark brought his A game tonite boys 🎸🔥🔥🔥
I love Telecasters!
1) My peppermint mocha frappuccino
2) Slavery | fleetmaple big mac
3) Inability to talk to each other | Jimmy's diary pages
lol
You are such a good player. I have been playing since 1958 and can’t play near that well. I bought two new Fenders in 1958 and still have them from Cincinnati.
Ahahaha
please! dont! stop it! please dont!!! dont stop
+James Cox Keep it up, brother. Doesn't matter how "good" or "bad"
you think you are, only that it does something good for the soul. With
two Fenders from 1958 that should be easy to accomplish!
Best song selection and performance in the series' recent history. Wow, if there is a better way to employ that dark circuit, I've yet to hear it. Thank you, Mark and Jen.
House_of_Shlep was thinking the same exact thing. Christmas 🎄 tune was stellar, Mark is a helluva jazz player, even if won’t admit it lol. I’m rolling out the tone on my Tele neck coil & learning that 🎸🔥🔥🔥
Same from me. The dark circuit is very under-appreciated - and you can still get both pickups if you balance the switch. The neck pickup on this thing sounded really good too.
That was ripper.... fleetwood mac!!
+House_of_Shlep The dark circuit deprives you of the combination of
neck and bridge pickups, the middle position on later Teles. To me, that's
one of the best sounds a Tele can get. Think James Brown, Prince, Steve
Cropper and a host of soul and R&B artists from the 60's and 70's. By
rolling all the treble off the neck pickup with the master tone pot the
effect is the same. But this is a beautiful guitar. I'd just remove the dark
circuit and let 'er rip.
No it doesn't - you can get both pickups by balancing the switch. Have you ever owned a Tele with the 'dark circuit' or are you just parroting received wisdom?
That Christmas song is the most beautiful thing I've ever heard. Played on a the most beautiful thing I've ever seen. By the most beautiful manager I've ever seen.
Mark that was some Awesome playing man the jazzy have yourself a Merry little Christmas..
I've been watching this (almost) every day and I have to say you guys do a really good job with this. You make my list of dream guitars longer every day. Thank you very much.
My mom named me after Stevie Nicks, but dad wanted to make after Nikki Sixx great songs mark I watch every day and learn the riffs that you do
Pure rock n' roll machine. When I think of a Tele I think of this...
My dream guitar
Fantastic playing. One of the best episodes I've ever seen. GOTD gets me out of bed every morning.
I still need one, hands down the best tele I’ve ever played
That really felt like Christmas...thank you !
I bought a '57 Tele, back in the early '70s. Back then they were not "vintage" they were used. It cost me $175. I had it for years, but it ended up not being played very much, so in the late '80's (if my memory serves me), I sold it. I was living in Thomasville, North Carolina, and sold it to a dealer in Winston Salem, NC, getting $800 for it. I know, he got a deal, and in the right market (Nashville, LA, NYC) it was probably worth twice as much. I needed the money at the time, but wish I still had that guitar. The '60s Jazzmaster I had in high school was another story for another video. Who knew that these old Fender guitars would ultimately be worth so much money.
Knocking these Tele's out of the park !!!!. GOTD landing midweek in the UK... really helps the hump. Thanks guys !x
I missed it yesterday... congratulations to Dave 👍 thanks Joe you rock! Tele 57 Is Mine!!!!!!! Yeh I wish lol
I was rejected by my lifelong last night... thanks for putting out quality content to make me smile. Appreciate you Mark and Jen
Oh my dear lord... the tone outta that beast is amazing!
Thanks for talking about the neck profile. It's the reason I clicked on this video.
Maybe on Thursday we can see a Danelectro Bass?
Beautiful! Man...you can really play!
eargasm..... nicely done!
1) Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas
2) The Chain
3) Communication Breakdown
All sounding KILLER!!
Neck Pickup: Jazzy rendition of "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas"
Middle Pickup: The Chain - Fleetwood Mac
Bridge Pickup: Communication Breakdown - Led Zeppelin
Holy crap, Mark. That first song may have been the best thing I’ve heard you play on Guitar Of The Day. Wow.
To this day the Telecaster is the finest guitar you can buy. Simple and beautiful
I am a proud owner of the identical 57 tele,blonde white,identical case..All original!!
That is the absolute perfect shade of blonde. I like the sound and feel of black guards better but the way the finish yellows on the white guards is just beautiful!
Far out man --Fab giggles Jen and whoops -- How about Alices Restaurant this week to celebrate 50 years or Turkey Day with Arlo ???? Groovy in the Mists as always XXXX
merry little christmas, the best thing you ever played man wow you kill it!!! tearin up man
That neck pick up... Holy jeebus. I normally lean bright. Perfect song for tone. M.A.
Best guitar of the day episode ever.
Another great Tele they just keep coming . Enjoyed the tunes Mark nice job.
Congrats to the Hummingbird auction winner! Norman’s and GOTD followers are good people doing good things. Pretty awesome to be a small part of a cool crowd. Also, respect to Joe Bonamassa - you’re a stand up dude Joe.
Beautiful Tele!
Outstanding Tele!
Simply Stunning Guitar.
Love that guitar! Mark is a beast on that thing, so good man!
Wow. Now I wanna see Norm play it! It's that great.
This one has neck pocket gaps like grand canyon, love it!
I wanna be that tele when i grow up
DO RICKENBACKEEER MAAARK!!!
That dark circuit is pretty deep. May need me one of those.
Playing communication breakdown on a tele may be the most rock-and-roll thing you can do in life.
Great playing!
Cool! Is that the Ted Greene version of Have Yourself a Merry Little Christmas? Probably the most underrated guitar player of all time in my book
Nice job again Mark and Jenn. Super enjoy my GOTD.......
Nice Tele! Has much more of a neck pocket gap on both sides of the neck than I️ would have expected. I’m sure that’s not as important as some claim though...
Beautiful dark circuit!
You guys have been getting some awesome Teles recently!
Do you smell the tele?..1.From Ajazzer "Have Yourself A Merry Little Christmas 2. Fleetwood Mac "The Chain" 3.Led Zeppelin "Communication Breakdown"..Do you read me?:-)
Bodyknowledge 77 I always try to wait to watch after your list.
Comic Lover u'z gots the instincts that don't stink in this regard..:-)
Bodyknowledge 77 I don't watch unless it's a song or two I like. He plays similarly styled guitars lol.
Fender jazz 62 it's snarf a garble warble..?
Explorer please, love the show👍❤️
Hello Mark, big fan of the show and teles. Find a yellow or green one and show it. Best
Marks Jazz is candy
Hey could you wish Morgan a happy birthday on the 12th? I've been a long watcher (this is my first time commenting), but I just would love to now get her in on it by starting with a warm GOTD welcome! Thanks!
Nathaniel Williams sounds like somebody gotta thang for Ms Morgan. Careful what u wish for Nate and welcome to our morally corrupt comment community LOL.
Nathaniel Williams I don't mean alter the dark circuit... Just drive it hard through the amp so it's a more modern tone. I agree that the old stuff should stay origina.
Fantastic! Next time try the "ghost" position (like on 3-way switch Strats) in between middle and bridge, there's a cool tone there! ;)
Awesome 👏
I'm not usually a fan of Christmas music, or the dark circuit, but that was a fantastic rendition.
This is almost as sweet at that '52 from last week. Great song selection too.
Nice Tele! Merry Christmas Mark and Jen!
Best sounding dark circuit I ever heard !
Any chance of one day doing a Paisley Tele from the late 60's? That would be epic.
Great job on the GOTD videos y'all. Loved the Xmas tune to kick off.
Happy TELE-TUESDAY
everyone, welcome back.
I would of played some
late Yardbirds/Led Zep1.
Man if you watch this everyday you start getting jaded, Back before I discovered GOTD I would be salivating to see someone play an honest to god '57 Tele. But now I'm sitting here thinking, "Well that's pretty cool. But the Black guard from last week was so much better." As always great playing and fine camera work.
That was some really nice music. Thanks.
Great songs today guys! Thanks! Byeeeeee
I can dig it.
Mr.Stranger big whopper Holiday DUG 🎸🔥
Nice Christmas music Mark. Cool Tele.. Byeee Jen!! 🎸
Nice playing on the dark circuit Mark.
VERY COOL.👍 DUDE.😊. AWESOME ✌👍Hi jen.😊
Never heard a dark circuit before ,but I like it Mr. Agnesi.
Last time you did a white guard telecaster it also had a massive neck pocket
Hey Mark, luv your vids! Can u pls do a lp custom for all us dutchies (jan akkerman fans) out there. Gotto luv a bit of Hocus Pocus😊
Awesome stuff Mark.
Not "paint"! Lacquer!
Love this!
*Stainless* steel? Didn't know that. Interesting. Why weren't the "corrugated" barrels stainless then too?
LOVE a V-neck. (Small hands, my thumb can use it for leverage as there's no way it's reaching the fingerboard on the low E side.)
That dark circuit actually sounds kind of nice. Is that the original capacitor? Amazing it still works!
Poor Leo, I think he confused filtering with pitch shifting. (Which wasn't really possible at the time.)
And once again you've taught me something. Drop-D for The Chain! Got it!
That is one sweet ash guitar.
If you we're going to play a Christmas song that was The one. 👍
Diverse selection of songs on a cool as guitar..
✌
Communication Breakdown in the Jacket!
i always wondered why they remove the pickup/ bridge cover. am i the only one who thinks it looks better with it on?
Tony Montoya yeah it looks better... But how would you mute the strings?
Tony Montoya Yes :-) But I'm lusting after a dark circuit Télé now :-)
The Bridge cover (ashtray) had a purpose, which was to protect the bridge pickup from debris and corrosion that could affect the guitar in terms of sound. Most people take it off because you can’t mute the strings with your palm, and you can’t pick the strings on the bridge plate near the saddles. People sometimes put it in the case but often they lose the cover then they start playing it and after a while they start getting corrosion and think “Why is there debris in here”? That’s what the cover is for. It does look better with it on.
What was excellent mark
Quite enjoyed this one as I had no idea what the songs were going to be beforehand as I refrained from looking at the comments and seeing that pathetic daily top comment naming all the songs. 👍
What we have here....is communication breakdown....Rock On!!
Tremendous! Now how about some G&l guitars 🎸 😎👍
NRG - Guitar of the Day: 1919 Martin 00-42, on 12/16/16
Big fan of the tele... But why would anyone, anywhere, have ever thought the dark circuit was a good idea?
Lovely tele !!
Tele extravaganza! Goddamn clean!🤘🏻🎸glazed donut. Spaghetti logo. Twanger Banger. Beauty. Love it.
Top notch
, Mark, Rick 325??? Hey, did Carlos ever make it back?? Nice Tele!!!
Play can't you hear me knocking on the next tele Tuesday!
the flat pole pickups sound way better. question - is it just me, having grown up blasting FM stations with jenson 6x9s in my youth? i always boosted the treble and bass freqs and even v-shaped with the mids to compensate for the FM signal bias. too much? rewired my brain? anyone else haunted by their youth in the 70s this way???? lol i miss my 69 nova
Fab Giggles and Whoops Jen xxx
Lovely guitar. Just bought a Mexican 50s Tele. It's better than my 1972. Isn't there a B7 in the second-last line of the Christmas tune, not a Bm7?
B7 on "dreams come"? Great guitar playing.
That’s some good stuff there
Nice job with the Jazz noise Do you know what Ted Greene thought about the dark circuit tone on an early Telecaster?
i was waiting for the communication breakdown solo!!!!
Sweet.
George & Leo
Very very cool tele. Wasn't expecting to be able to park my car in that neck pocket though. Looks a terrible fit
