ASUS Router Set up as wireless repeater / wireless range extender..
Some asus router come with hardware switch.
You will see the hardware EZ switch on the backside of the router. You will have to bring the router into repeater mode with the help of a hardware EZ switch.
Note:- Hardware switches do not come in all asus routers. You can convert other asus routers to the repeater mode also without a hardware switch.

Shouldn't the Asus router's firewall be turned off when using in the repeater mode?

After configuring it in repeatrer mode atleast 20 times, I alwasy get error 'Parent AP Status: Disconnected' on it home page. While multiple client's connected to parent AP either via network cable or wirelessly are able to access internet without any problem. I have tried assigning IP to RT N12+ both manually and automatically from parent AP. In my case Parent AP is the modem/router connected to my ISP.
I have tried resetting the RT N12+ from the configration page and using reset button (30-30-30 method).
Can someone please help me?

I went to ASUS training and got 411 on extenders, you can only use ASUS extenders for ASUS WiFi routers, and what’s real impressive is the extenders are WIFI, simple to set up. Sell the to links - they only work on other WiFi like linksys

The set up works well. Thank you. But when you switch off both routers and power them in again (as in power outage) I cannot connect to the repeater even though it has different ip address. It says - Connected. No internet.
