Comparing the scene from S1 with the one from AYITL- Fall. I think it was made in part to honor the great Edward Herrmann... And of course, the circle of life...
I loooove how Emily&Richard make it clear words "you need MONEY". At the end of the day Lorelei comes back for money that she claimed she doesn't need together with their snobbish life. And she would beg for money much more times if they didn't support Rory without her aksing. In real life, she would beg them for money a lot of times before Rory's 16. But having a fairy godmother who gives work AND place to live just from the kindness of her heart is fairytale enough
I think in part is true... and it shows how cold the relationship between them (lorelai and her parents) could be... She finally goes to them for money and they manage her to get the dinners... a business transaction if we see it in a cold way... But human relationships are always way more complex!!
Ooh, I love this edit! "The circle of life", yet things aren't exactly the same. In the second scene, Lorelai is happier, not only because she's in a more stable station of her life, but also because she has come to accept the circle of life. She's accepted her life, all parts of it, not just the parts she likes or has created, but also those that were given to her and that she tried to escape or shut down in her twenties & thirties. So lovely.
I thinkg the circles ASP like not necessarily are the same...it's just the situation that comes up again but with different participants or in a different stage of their life... This is maybe the only circle I did like and a lot!!! Also this was a tribut to Edward!!!

Notice also the body language of Emily. Distant to sitting-next-to. Progress eventually....
The best and one of the only good parts of the revival is Emily shedding her rich snobbish ways.
I won't say the only one, but of course Emily is the best story line of AYITL!!!

If she really wanted that; maybe she shouldn't have told her time and time again;how much of a dissapointment she is for her parents.
