Property taxes are horrendous in PR. About 1 in 8 can't afford their property taxes and must defer. Landlords must take these tax spikes out on new tenants. The subsidy fed population is a milking cow for the Municipality and Regional District, who still want to party like its 1978. It's like setting a vampire on a defenceless toddler but as long as the vampire is alive all is well. PR is a senior/retirement town and typical conversation here might be grandma getting all excited that low income housing is coming not realizing that she herself is not the low income in mind. Poor grandma!
We have 3 major grocery stores, QF, Save on foods, and Freshco, along with smaller markets like Mitchell Brothers and Pacific Point Market. We have Walmart and Canadian tire, no Home Depot. We have Rona and Valley Building supplies for building materials. If you have any other questions about Powell River and the surrounding area's don't hesitate to reach out!
@@mattbehan-powellriverrealt3398 I was there for a short visit earlier this year. I walked a piece of the spectacular Sunshine Coast trail. I found QF rather pricey. How do Save-On and Freshco compare for food prices? Does PR Walmart have groceries?
@@kenvandeburgt1232 QF is the most expensive option, Save On is a little cheaper, and Freshco is the cheapest option. Our Walmart has some dry goods, but not a full grocery section. Shoppers Drug Mart also has some groceries. The Sunshine Coast trail sure is beautiful!
Just like a lot of places in BC, it is quiet and boring. For some people, this is nice but for others who are more accustomed to bigger cities, it can be extremely boring. I grew up in a small town on Vancouver island and I thought it was nice but after living in other places I find it very boring. It is also limiting in many aspects to live in a place like this and one can not advance or challenge themselves in any field without moving away. Just my opinion.
I lived in Powell river most of my life tell a year ago and I moved i got no interest in moving back there no money too be maid if u want too retire it a good town for that 😊
If they would only build at bridge to the peninsula leaving only one crossing to Saltery Bay, the whole Sunshine Cost would prosper. But that would not be in the best interest of some CEO milking tax dollar cash cow for what should be part of public infrastructure.
Only bad thing I heard here was the housing prices.
Good video.
I love the rain
I just went to PR . What a beautiful spot!

Is there a grocery store other than the QF store?
Is there Home Depot or Walmart?
