That ceiling, oh-em-gee! I love how you find uses for the previously discarded parts of the house! So much creativity from you and your parents! You home is shaping up into a showplace!
Funny story. When I was in grade school I argued with my math teacher about my ‘F’ in geometry. I proclaimed to her through clenched teeth, “I will never need to use this information in real life!” Fast forward, as a part owner of a scenic company, we were hired by an animal pharmaceutical manufacturer to create a “wheel of fortune” type prize wheel that stood horizontal and had interchangeable pie pieces. All of this has to be custom crated to travel all across the US and overseas. It took us 10 hours to figure all the angles and cuts and math… needless to say I screamed “I’m sorry, Mrs. Trotter!” more than once. I’m soo impressed with you and your “team”. I’ll have to watch this a few times before I get your math. What a wiz kid! It turned out stunning ♥️✌🏼
Omg of all the higher math, geometry is the one I use ALL the time! Algebra too actually… but never calculus 😂 Glad I still have some of these skills for projects like these! And wow your project sounds crazy!
You are the personification of possibility thinking, Andrew! That ceiling medallion alone is ample evidence for the title. My shoulders ached in sympathy while the drywall went up. And up. Using the beams from the drop ceiling as staging supports for the new one was SO smart! This was a great episode and a project that should bring you and your amazing parents (I am a HUGE fan of your mom and dad!) enormous satisfaction. You three make an unbeatable team. Your attention to every detail of this project produced a truly prideworthy result. Once the foundation work is finished, I am going to have to repaint my entire house, so that paint sprayer was very interesting to me and I'm giving it a good, hard look. Fantastic work in every respect, y'all!
Really Love this detail. It feels like some sort of window art (almost like a white stained glass shape?) on the ceiling. I like the look with the industrial light fixture!
Andrew- that medallion is genius! My current So Fla house reno included taking off the original roof and putting a new truss roof to span an addition. I saved the old 2x6 roof rafters, old growth Dade County pine, and plan to rip some of them down to planks for the ceiling of a new covered patio.
That room was perfectly fine, and you could have left well enough alone. I'm so glad you didn't!! That is some incredible work y'all did, and it looks amazing and authentic!!
Medallion & moldings made the light come fully to life, light makes ceiling look great, they need each other. The music when you were all installing the ceiling together combined with the way you edited the video reminded me of dance, and when you were painting the ceiling ballet came to mind.
1:21 Just got all caught up on the home renovation playlist after starting this video a week or two ago. WOW! So much amazing work and excited to continue to watch the renovation unfold!
This transformation is wonderful! We took out a popcorn 😢 ceiling and replaced it with beautiful metal ceiling tiles in our late 1800's cottage so I can really appreciate this particular project! As everyone else is saying, you have such wonderful parents...the love and talent! ❤ from Prescott, AZ
Heading out to work. Going to McDonald’s for my morning large caramel macchiato (iced with extra shot of espresso add whipped cream 😂😂😂) and going to watch this update video with my “coffee”. Woohoo Can I say I watched the first two minutes and I’m just obsessed with how cute your parents are helping you
Update: love! Medallion is excellent! You almost tend toward a historical nod. Is there a name for a serviceman’s uniform aesthetic. Haha anyway, really love your work. The freehand bird in flight wallpaper was just a jaw dropping moment!
Another awesome project done! That medalion is everything! I love that you reuse all the materials. You are so creative and you must be so grateful to have such devoted parents as it is so much work, and ceilings are the hardest to work on, I've painted quite a few over the years. I wish I lived closer to my son to help with his projects! It's always exciting to watch your videos and follow your progress, cant wait to see your room done! Cheers!
Ceiling was totally worth the effort! Don't let the light fixture haters get you down 💪 i made an exposed bulb fixture where I encased the cords in rope that wraps around a bar hanging from ceiling for an industrial/ nautical feel. People were intrigued but always seamed to form am opinion that it would never work in there own safe/ traditional vanilla home. Maybe if you put your own spin on the light fixture with swagged ropes or chains , or even strips of painted canvas fluttering down to create the shape of a traditional chandelier but in the reissued fashion??? Im sure you'll navigate the look to feel exactly like your home and will be ready to have an AD visit of your own 😻
That seemed to be the most involved project ever! But oh so worth your neck breaking, back breaking, sweat n tears, mind blowing ideas!!! Can't wait for your final reveal, I'll be watching for each episode, this is so exciting! ❤
Love the light fixture and that medallion is beautiful 🤌. I was feeling accomplished having emptied the dishwasher before dinner then hanging one curtain, and then I watched this 😂
This is awesome! You and your parents work so hard and are quite creative. The results are worthy of a feature in AD. I look forward to seeing the finished room. Take care.
1:25 -- You left the 2x6 ceiling *joists* in place to help with installation of new drywall on the high ceiling. 3:38 -- After the new drywall was fully attached to the high ceiling, you removed the 2x6 *joists* . That medallion is so incredible, especially with the molding on the ceiling. What a great use of reclaimed materials. Fantastic work, and your parents are total rock stars for being so great at doing so many things.
Have your parents always been handy? I don’t recall a video about your parents and your childhood. This is so inspiring! I love my parents however they don’t know how to install a lightbulb 😞. I’m so much like you. I remodeled my entire home on my own. I just love how your parents are involved. ❤
I came to this video after watching how you transformed the Ikea blind with wood veneer for the window ... Because you said you were considering using the same window treatment idea for the Studio. I say yes ... Do it !!! Why ? . . . The original inspirational photograph had four windows next to each other ... You have 3 windows in the 'bay window' area of the studio. I think 3 or 4 will give you the same basic look that they got in the photo that inspired you. There is more space between the windows in your studio here ... But I think you will really fall in love with the window treatment you created when applied to 3 adjacent windows. May I suggest you consider hanging the blinds a little closer to the top than you did in the first room. The photo that inspired you left a bit less of a gap between the top of the window and the start of the blind ... And I think with 3 adjacent windows less gap at the top will give you more of the original look you fell in love with . . . . . . Do YES . . . definitely seeing the original photo that inspired you to do that window treatment in the bedroom . . . You have to do it in the studio BECAUSE of those three windows !
Andrew the moulding detail is gorgeous!. kudos to your Dad perfecting the dry wall seams such a difficult thing to do, especially on a ceiling. Love it x
an hour from setup to cleanup on that ceiling? amazing. And I know you know, but you owe your Dad bigtime for doing all that mudding. No idea why but I do like that light fixture, although I still think it could use some of those little 1940s-50s industrial looking light shades . . .
Your parents are so amazing. You are truly blessed. I’m always amazed at the beautiful things you create . You reinvent and give new life to used and discarded things. I’m learning so much from your videos.
How beautiful is that!! Oh my goodness wow!! And you are absolutely right about the light fixture, the combination of ceiling details that you added just pull everything together perfectly! Excellent job sunshine!
I’m riding out a hurricane, watching too many RUclips videos on home decore, and realised that the light fixture in your studio space is the same one used by Shea McGee of McGee & Co. in their Swan Lake House project in the primary bedroom. In one of your previous videos, you (Andrew) had said that you couldn’t find anything like it online. Just thought that might be helpful/ allow you to see it styled in a different space.
The light fixture, the room's angles and the beautiful trim work are a work of art. It's amazing how they all compliment each other. It looks original and intentional. Raising the ceiling made all the difference. Well done!
Howdy Andrew!! I bet by the time you got done, your hair was white! That happen to me when I sprayed the inside of my cousin's garage! You are certainly blessed to have your parents constantly there to help you on projects!!! Looks fabulous there Tiger!! Hugs & Tugs!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hi Andrew. What a difference a paint sprayer makes huh? My husband used to own a paint company, and those sprayers cut the work time way down! You did a good job! I am loving the way the room is coming together. The medallion is perfect! You and your parents are doing a great job and I'm excited to see what's next!❤
@@REISSUED Yeah, it takes some getting used to for sure! You did a great job! You're very welcome, I enjoy watching your progress, and ideas! You all are doing a great job! It's hard sometimes to improvise, or retrofit something new into the old. I love older homes too. Thank you for sharing!

Gorgeous! I'm in love with that medallion. The dimensional clapboard makes all the difference. As always, I so enjoy seeing your parents working with you.
It looks absolutely amazing already 😍. The three of you make such a great team 👏👏👏 And a sprayer has been a game changer for many of the other RUclipsrs I’ve watched 😃
Love your Medallion! Great idea….stunning. I had asked you about your vintage athletic picture that’s always behind you and you told me you’d bought it at a thrift and had not been able to find it for people to purchase…I wanted to tell you I tried one last time to do a Google lens search ( I was able to get a good picture off your video today) and I FOUND IT!!! I wondered if it would be too much trouble for you to tell me what the size is of yours. I wouldn’t want anything any smaller. Thank You and LOVE your sweet home!
Thanks for the quick reply! Their largest option is only 16x12.5. 😔. I’m going to keep looking. This site says it is the 1910 Georgetown University Track Team. You might of already known that but thought I’d share. Thanks again! Love your channel! ❤
The ceiling looks great. I love the diy medallion and moulding, I think you nailed it on all your goals A couple spraying tips: Careful about arching the spray nozzle. You don’t want to get that extra couple inches from flicking your wrist, that extra distance doesn’t go on evenly. The movements should have a robotic feel, or like isolations in dance. It’s better to keep the same angle and distance than to get an extra 6” The dust isn’t from overspray. There’s nothing you can do to prevent that. When the paint passes through the air, some of it dries before hitting the surface. The buildup around your nose is from air getting sucked in there, pulling the dried paint dust with it. Just get the mask as tight to your face as you can so you don’t breathe in anymore than you have to For the second coat, you really do want to roll it. I work as a painter, our second contract is painting track houses. I don’t usually work on that crew, so I don’t spray a lot, but they do spray all the primer and ceilings, plus trim, doors, window frames, etc. Wood doesn’t benefit from a roller, but primer and your finish coat do. Our basic process is to spray it on heavy, then roll it off before the paint/primer has time to dry. It doesn’t seem like it should save that much time, but it does on big projects. You won’t benefit much on individual rooms, due to the time needed to clean the machine. Spraying saves time due to scaling, you need BIG areas for it to save time. I actually don’t use a sprayer at all for my own home. The only thing I’ve sprayed here are the doors, since I could uninstall them and spray them in the garage. I can roll pretty much everything faster than I can clean out the machine, so it’s not worth it to pull out the sprayer. We also sprayed the exterior of our last house The reason you want to roll the primer is that rolling pushes it into the drywall and makes fibres from the drywall lay flat. You get a much, much smoother finish and a better bond with the drywall. Rolling also evens out any heavy spots by picking up the excess paint and redepositing it in the thin spots. For the finish coat, spraying and rolling have different textures. If you ever need to touch up the ceiling, you should use the same technique to do the touch up as you used for applying the coat. So if you sprayed the ceiling, the touch up should be strayed too. Nobody wants to spray in a finished room. So we typically roll off the sprayed paint to even it out and give it a fine rolled texture. Also, sorry, still not feeling the exposed wire. I don’t think there’s any amount of “graceful draping” that’ll make me like it. Whoever made it didn’t know how to hide the wires and it shows. I’d rather have something that’s intentionally designed to look industrial than a poorly executed diy. Kudos for trying, but I’d be keeping an eye out for a replacement
It's fantastic! I love the visual interest it provides, and I love the updated look the light fixture gives it. I can't wait to see the whole room done!
My first thought for those ceiling planks was to make an indoor or outdoor picnic table. Kudos to your dad for all that ceiling patchwork! My shoulders ached just watching this 😄It's coming along nicely. The medallion is a lovely touch, too.
The ceiling looks awesome. I'm sure it is so nice to have your parents input-I know I would certainly appreciate decision making assistance. Grats on the paint sprayer sponsorship-well deserved. I will keep it mind in my future. Have great day ahead.💖💖🎶🎶
You really lucked out with these parents of yours. I hope you are planning on sending them on a wonderful spa vacation when all is done ! And the medallion is everything, and so clever to utilize the unique angles of the wood to enhance the design. Your videos are always eagerly anticipated. Until next time, Be well.
Beautiful! I love how you and your parents go that extra mile for beauty and creative expression. Makes my heart happy! I am in the industrial light fixture camp! Love it, very cool. Perfect contrast to add interest and that creative expression that we love. Hey, what do you think about introducing your parents on camera sometime? Just a thought.😊
Love! Also...haters gonna hate, amiright? Just keep on keepin' on. Highly recommend watching the DIY Danie episode where she paints her kitchen cabinets w a sprayer! Heck...I recommend her fun channel regardless. Beautiful work!
Hey Genevieve! Haha I know the fixture is not for everybody, but I think it’s great. The only comments that hurt are the ones that I know are right 😂 And yeah I watch Danie from time to time! Definitely admire her woodworking skills!
That is is so in keeping with the age of the house but is going to give your studio such character. I can’t believe how well you and your family work together, if I’d tried to do something like this with my family at your age it would have been WWIII or at least pistols at dawn. 😀
Watching you and your parents working so hard on these projects together, defines the meaning "A labour of love"
Haha absolutely 😂☺️

Stunning. I can’t define this ceiling any other way.

3:38 -- After the new drywall was fully attached to the high ceiling, you removed the 2x6 *joists* .

*joists* = framing supporting floors and ceilings
*studs* = wall framing
Salvaging the ceiling joists was a good decision!

The reason you want to roll the primer is that rolling pushes it into the drywall and makes fibres from the drywall lay flat.
Love the details of this medallion. The high ceiling makes this a grand showplace. ❤
I love the progress in your house. you have a great aesthetic! Found you thru your collab with Flanzella.
The medallion is pretty cool - great reuse of salvaged wood. Great idea!
You really lucked out with these parents of yours. I hope you are planning on sending them on a wonderful spa vacation when all is done ! And the medallion is everything, and so clever to utilize the unique angles of the wood to enhance the design. Your videos are always eagerly anticipated. Until next time, Be well.
Looking beautiful! Thanks for not giving us the circular saw noise.
Just a thought.😊
great ceiling renovate! just a thought...small sails would be a nice addition to the light fixture.😃👍
Haha that’s a fun idea!
I love the creativity! It’s so fun to watch the process😊

The AD inspiration is a great choice, I think.
Wow, that was a lot of work!!! But turned out great. My neck hurts watching your Dad prep the ceiling . LOL
Love this. All of it, especially the contrast with old and new .
You guys are ingenious!!! Bravo!!
Great job on the the medallion! You're very fortunate to have your parents' creative handy work also...kudos to y'all
I think the ceiling looks great! I can't wait to see the room completed
A lot of work but worth it. Flawlessly beautiful.
That is is so in keeping with the age of the house but is going to give your studio such character. I can’t believe how well you and your family work together, if I’d tried to do something like this with my family at your age it would have been WWIII or at least pistols at dawn. 😀
FANTASTIC!!! Can't wait for part 3!
Oh, you know I clicked so fast! 😊
