Dear You, everything you do and say about your process, is that of an artist. You are an Artist. Most of us carry around thoughts or being an imposter. Hard to believe that life can be this fun and creative - it is. I’m an old person now, and I love your approach to your home and your art. It’s full of thoughtfulness and care and not overly precious. Keep creating. 🎉
Hi Leslee! This comment made my day 🥹 Especially what you said about life being fun and creative - it can be so easy to fall into a headspace where anything that feels joyful or comes easily is discarded to focus on the things that come with struggle or intense effort. It’s taken me awhile to realize that the things we toil away for are no more valuable than the beautiful moments that life hands us. I’m happy to able to incorporate that into my artwork. Thank you so much for watching and sharing your insight ❤️❤️❤️
@@REISSUED I agree with Leslee 100%. Art creation has little to do with a formal education. Yes, knowing art history and having reference to great artists provides a platform and launching point for creating something new, and technique is often essential to composition even in abstract work. These works are absolutely beautiful.
How excellent and cool, and brave these pieces are! I’m just like that, trying not to be inspired by something and cheat!! Haha like I have to re invent the wheel! Also, I work on 30 things at one time so I don’t freak myself out when things don’t go my way This was great. Thank you for the inspiration.
You create art just like I do! From thrift store finds and mixed media to letting fate and intuition be our guide! I have adult ADHD, anxiety and depression. Getting back to creating has helped me tremendously! I have been dealing with imposter syndrome and your video has made me feel so much better. Thank you for sharing your process! Love your work!!
I am so glad I found you. I relate to your life journey so much. I was a dancer in my youth, designed clothing in Los Angeles for thirty plus years, retired, moved opened a store, sold that, did display for Anthropology for six years, and I still feel like an imposter in my artistic goals. Your work and home are fresh , on point, inspiring . Bravo ! Can’t wait to see what you decide to share with us next.
Hey Laurie!I appreciate you taking the time to watch and share your story! I often find that the artists that do everything are the people that make the most unique and inspiring work. But it can be hard to see it that way when comparing to the artists that go all in on one specific thing. I’m sure your range of experience shines through beautifully in the things you create. Glad to have you here ❤️
@lauriewarner4848, love your comment and am so interested in the window design work you spoke of! I have always secretly wanted that job! I have a job I love, working in the film industry as a Scenic Artist primarily on-set as a Camera Scenic, and I have been doing this for over 30 years…Not sure why I shared all that. I really just wanted to say hi! and You’re Cool. Hope your day is good👋
Your work is terrific! You don’t have to air quote being a legitimate artist. That’s just a belief system. Being self taught means you’re truly pursuing a passion and the first person practicing anything was not trained in a school…and they were legit! Art grows from artists viewing and experiencing art… and people will borrow from you. Totally normal. I just watched a Van Cleef & Arpels video and both the people working on setting rubies into rails, jewels that are precious and took years to assemble the same shades that will sell for hundreds of thousands of dollars, many millions, and they are self taught. In fact many of the VC&A lapidaries are self taught, or taught in house. Sooo.. you’re legit! Rock on! I love your ‘stache. I was very disappointed when Tim Tracker shaved his, so I’m grateful I get to admire yours.
Oh my gosh!! How can you not believe or feel that you are a "professional artist"? In all actuality, you are far more than that. You are unbelievably talented, creative, intuitative, imaginative and inspiring...plus some. Thank you for sharing what you do and "what" you are. You're awesome.
I think that it is easy to get caught up and overwhelmed by the options when starting a new piece or a project. It was a revelation to me when I had an instructor who said “turn off your voice of judgement” during the initial part of the creative process. It is very freeing (and takes a lot of practice). Then you go back after with a more critical eye. Your work is amazing. You should not feel imposter syndrome when you call yourself an artist. You are incredibly talented.
These photos reminded me of the ancestral pictures I have from my family history. My Norwegian grandfather was strikingly handsome, so you’ve got my creative juices flowing. So many ideas, and so little time.
Yes! I’m definitely going to do some pieces with antique photos of my family - so we are totally on the same page! Thanks for watching and sharing your thoughts!
Absolutely loved this! So inspiring! The only thing that didn't gel with me was covering over their eyes with a splash of white paint. They seemed so much more charming when you could see their eyes, especially the portrait of the woman.
I agree. Such beautiful work. In my opinion the white splash adds interest, but also takes away the life and energy in the images. I’d buy them anyway though 😊
I completely agree. I felt very involved as both the pieces were developing, but as soon as the splotches went over the eyes, I felt immediately dissociated, almost pushed put of them. It was very disconcerting. Is that what you were trying to achieve? What was the motivation for doing that?
Luv your honesty about the artistic process. The is a sign of a true artist. Dude, you are NOT an imposter. I'm really enjoying your channel. Great work.
Thank you for sharing. I’m also an “artist”. I never thought of myself as one before but now that I’m retired, it’s all I want to do and I’m loving my artwork. I loved your artwork! Congrats!
When I had doubts my poetry teacher said you have to give yourself permission to be the artist. Your doubts and drive seem well balanced and you are giving yourself permission. Beautiful results very inspiring video.
Dear Artist! You are a professional artist because you have sold a piece of art not to mention you have sold several pieces of art. I think that you are marvelous and I love your style and your art. I am also an artist and you have inspired me to try this technique on a photo of my mom and dad on their wedding day. My mother is dying and I feel like this approach to creating a piece of art will work beautifully to celebrate my mom and dad. I hope to finish it in time for her to see it. Truly you have captured what all artists fear and summarized this in a lovely and kind way to say You are not alone, I feel like an imposter too. Thank you again for a wonderful inspiration and I wish you great success in all your endeavors ❤
Thank you so so so so much for openly describing your feelings and giving tips to overcome them. I keep dreaming of doing art but can never get myself to actually do what I envision. I will definitely use your tips, like painting over used canvases, such a good one! Thank you and bravo for your work.
YES! He really combined everything I love about his channel here, too! I found him via his sewing/refashioning videos first so this is an extra special project for me as a viewer :).
Omg I love this! Yes, I wanted something that felt a bit like a self portrait for the man on my porch - since it such a giant statement piece to see from the street! Hence the mustache and the patterns… feels a bit like me haha
That is brilliant! I love that you start with a piece that is no longer wanted or loved (hence, donated to the thrift store) and make it into something totally new.
FATE led me to this video the day after I bought a picture in a charity thrift shop. I got it just for the frame, and was going to toss the “art”, which happened to be a very dingy needlepoint. Inspired by you, I’m going to see about creating something on top of the needlepoint, capitalizing on the texture. Thank for sharing your creative thinking. I, too, believe in the importance of fate in bringing you materials and ideas.
You are a guy after my own heart😊😊 we think a lot alike. I am 62 and I've always been an artist at heart even though it wasn't my profession.. I love your little dog I also have a 7 lb. Yorkie.
You spent so much time explaining/justifying how you are professional artist. No need for that IMHO! I wish for you to come into your great and everlasting power and OWN your artistry! Don’t forget to love yourself too!❤❤❤❤❤
You just popped up on my feed this morning, and I’m pretty sure you just started my day off right 😊 I loved watching you create such beautiful and meaningful pieces. Please give your precious twirly friend my love 😍
I’m loving watching your process. It’s ok to be vulnerable, insecure, ridiculous even. You’re making great pieces. Doubting yourself is unnecessary. Such a waste of energy. You do good stuff. Keep doing good stuff and enjoy your creativity. You’re wonderful!
Andrew! My boyfriend and I love watching your videos. I just purchased “The Patternmaker” and “Pieces of You” as a surprise for him. I can’t wait to put them in his office here in our home. He’s going to be so excited! Keep being creative!
OMG, your dog is too cute. I had to put my Old Girl to sleep last week so I've been pretty down. 🐕Your artwork turned out great! I did a similar thing years ago when a friend begged me to show at an art crawl she was currating (one of the artists backed out). Reluctantly, I agreed and then had to come up with something to show. So I bought old baroque style frames from vintage stores, gessoed them and made "art" by scribbling on newsprint paper (it was the cheapest). I first crumpled the paper, then ironed it flat to give it some character. I used pencil and charcoal for the scribbles and couldn't afford fixative, so I used my roommate's Aquanet hairspray!I worked in a frame shop at the time, so I was at least able to make nice mats for everything. My "work" looked great together and I sold almost every last piece! The other artists were kind of pissed. I guess I shouldn't have mentioned that I made everything in a week. 😮
Haha omg this story is amazing! Yeah I often find myself creating at the last minute with whatever I have on hand. But it is the vision to see the potential in the materials and the eye to put everything together that really counts! I’m so sorry to hear about your dog passing. I’m sure she brought you so much joy 😊
The best art professor I had once taught me that we're all born with 50,000 bad drawings and paintings engrained, so we spend our lives trying to get past them to create the good stuff. I think thats the 'uncomfortableness' you mentioned while working through the process, and its ok to take a break from a piece when it feels pressured and come back again when it feels right.
Art is simply a pleasing arrangement of shapes and colours and that basically sums it up. We all have different ideas of what ''real art'' should look like, and people are often too quick too dismiss a fantastic piece of art just because it doesn't fit their ideal concept of what that should be. I love your artworks, you think outside the box, and I think that's what makes your pieces so unique, VERY ARTISTIC and beautiful. 🖼🖌
U are so Artistic and Creative Soul it’s Amazing to see you working on new pieces, the thought process/ beginning steps/ and final product of your creative labor of Love
I love your art and I love upcycling clothes, furniture and art. You’ve given me inspiration to get back into it! Thank you! So enjoying your channel! ❤
...and you're a dancer/choreographer...wow!!!! Three of my favorite things choreography, dancing, creative decor. Where have you been all of my life? Love your channel. So happy I found you on You Tube.
Such good advice. Sometimes with art, it’s difficult to lay down “rules” or even steps, but here you explained it through your secrets so well. At first, my favorite tip was “Don’t force it,” because damn, yes. But the idea that there’s a point (possibly more than one point) that you’ll hate it very much and feel like you ruined it, which leads back to Don’t force it! The idea to trust the process and keep going is difficult to accept. Allowing plans to change, interpreting the way all the parts fit, and so often the materials can take you in a whole new direction. That’s when art gets really fun and active! Thanks again!
Holy moly - love what you did and how you did it. You are so fun to watch as well. I am not an artist but I love playing with all my art stuff, I draw a bit, watercolour, I used to do a lot of modge podge, I am basically all over the place. I like to refinish furniture and I have a dozen old canvases and frames. Now I am totally inspired to make a least one reissue out of these old picture and frames. Thank you for what you do 👍✨
Wow! I don’t often feel the desire to leave comments but the woman in particular is so stunning. Brilliant idea using the pattern pieces. I love everything about her. If I had the cash I would buy her now. Just wow!!!!
Hi! Just found your channel and I’m watching this video as I’m getting my list of supplies ready- going to town today to get tons of supplies for a crazy brand new art piece, something I’ve never tried before! I actually am a full time “professional” artist (lol I got a degree in it and that’s my full time “job”) I love hearing these tips from you. Getting pumped for the thrift search and to create something new and crazy!
Just found your channel today and so glad I did! Love your projects and attitude. I also appreciate that your delivery style is natural and calm....rather than freneticly shouting or jibberjabbering at us non-stop! Thanks so much!
I really appreciate how you talk about the emotional and mental processes in the work, and the creation, it’s such a challenge, isn’t it? Which is a big part of why it is SO REWARDING!
Beautiful work, I love how you left pieces of the patterns and paper to overlap onto the frame. Most who are true artists have such a difficult time saying the words "I'm an artist." But allow yourself to say it and believe it.
So Interesting your process! You have gone to get mod podge, I am here for the first time! Just wanted to say thank you for being a responsible dog parent by harness and dog seat! Dogs fly through the front screen in the most minor of accidents! You are wonderful for your integrity ! Looking forward to the rest of your creative video, its very inspirational x Cheers, from Cotswolds UK 🗺
Haha we got the harness and box for Queenie since she was completely unwilling to sit still in the car and needs to see out at all times. So it’s a good safety measure that keeps her happy 😃 ❤️
Hello. I’m new to your channel, so I’ve only had time to watch a few videos. I’m truly blown away. Your art, vision for your home and personality are so interesting and fun. Thanks for sharing some of your life. As a person who loves to create, your channel inspires!❤
Love your ideas and tips!! I’m a creative person who has focused forever on my job and daily life, and taken almost no time to express my creativity. I understand how creating something/doing something you love feeds the soul, and I’m at a point now where I want to start adding these things into my daily life. You have inspired me to think “outside of the box”! Thank you! Looking forward to more of your videos ~ 💜🩵💙
Your art is interesting and creative. My art change with a head injury/you cannot plan anything. This homeless lady in a wheelchair came to Church. She so excited about adding color to coloring books for adults. I got out the art again______________________________________________🖋🖊🖌🖍!
OMG, I loved both pieces; for their similarities and for their differences. I loved the way the patterns turned out on the clothing. I would not have thought of layering an old picture on an existing piece of art. I thought that was inspired! I loved watching the process. Makes me want to go home and decoupage and do art stuff! Cheers!
Well that was super inspiring, thanku so much. Your 10 secrets were fantastic and I am familiar with most of them lol 😂...yep..that ol chestnut of am I an artist or not? Well hell I've sold my gear, admittedly to friends 😂 but I've still sold it... Im a shocking procrastinator, drives me nuts lol.. Really enjoyed this vid, thanku so much.. Kaz from Oz ❤
Thank you so much for sharing your process. I am a thrifter/reseller and lover of art. I'm feeling very inspired by your video. It's been a while since I've created my own art and I'm loving what you have done. Thank you for the motivation ✨🎨☀💖
I really enjoyed watching your process. As an artist I want to reassure you that you are indeed an artist. Don't doubt or second guess your talent. It is there and quite brilliant and evident. Cheers!
Gorgeous! Thank you for so generously sharing your thoughts, your process, and the beautiful results. Your calm and measured approach to talking us through your work makes it a delight to watch. Colour me inspired. ☺️👌
Beautiful! I love “Torn Sky”. So beautiful! I have a million paintings and frames. Maybe I could make something out of them… 😊. Thank you for the tips!
I absolutely love the tutorial. Thank you for sharing all your tips and tricks. 💚💚 I’m definitely gonna try it! Just a little tip, try using wallpaper adhesive instead of mod podge when initially adhering the paper I find that you get less wrinkles when using prints.
Thankyou for these tips. I've always wanted to be "arty", and make paintings and mixed media art. But I get stuck all the time in the belief I'm not creative. All the worries you expressed are the same ones I have. Your tips really help
I absolutely love your Devine artistry ❤I am learning how to explore new techniques and to relax and let myself just flow with what I am feeling.. not always easy. Sometimes we are our own worst critic 😊.. but I'm getting there. Love your videos!!!❤
I was just looking at an art piece today that my old roommate thrifted, thinking how I should donate it... but now I'm thinking I should just paint over it!
The photo of the man is amazing. He’s a very handsome guy. Would love to have him in my home as well. You obviously know where to look online. Great job.
I accidentally watched this video, and I feel you have a great eye and absolutely love both pieces. You have talent and although the work spilled out of you it shows me you are a true artist. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you for what you do 👍✨
Hey Karen! Thank you so much for watching! Good luck with your projects!
Here from Fanzella. Love your work! Thanks, Kathleen from Idaho
Hey Kathleen! Welcome!
You’re adorable and I’m looking forward to diving into your process! 💜🫶🏼
Love the YT algorithm at times, this is one of those. Thanks for expanding my possibilities.
Aw thank you so much! Glad you found me!
Wow! I don’t often feel the desire to leave comments but the woman in particular is so stunning. Brilliant idea using the pattern pieces. I love everything about her. If I had the cash I would buy her now. Just wow!!!!
Aw thank you so much! I appreciate your kind thoughts ❤️❤️❤️
This was such a lovely video! I love all of your secrets and we share in many of them! ❤
Always trust your intuition! Especially being an artist, let the universe help guide and inspire. Your art is very cool.
I love these! I also appreciate your acknowledgement of all of the anxieties many artists experience - myself included. Thank you for sharing! ❤
OMG, those are freaking AMAZING!
Yes! Go crazy! Let me know how it turns out!
Please let us know how it turned out!! I'm dying to know.
I'm late to the show as usual. I just found your channel. I love your work! Definitely going to subscribe to see more!
From one professional artist to another: Bravo! 💖
Aw thank you! 🤗
Beautiful work, I love how you left pieces of the patterns and paper to overlap onto the frame. Most who are true artists have such a difficult time saying the words "I'm an artist." But allow yourself to say it and believe it.
Great Fun! And you do have an artist's eye. The magic within.
Love your creativity and talent and honesty!!!!👏👏👏👏👏
You have such a brilliant and beautiful way of articulating your thoughts. Absolutely adored every second of this. THANK YOU!
Aw thank you so much Kelly!
Thank you so much Melissa! I’m so glad you found me 😊
Love your ideas and tips!!
Love hearing this! Glad you’re feeling inspired ❤️
💜
I love the texture and layers.
I love watching your creative process. True artist and I love it!
Thanks Debi!
Extremely nice work. I love how you see things and how you make it come out on the canvas. Definitley work I would hang in my house.
Brilliant!! Thank you for being so generous with your info and sharing. Loved this...💐💐💐
Thanks Angela!
I LOVE it!! What a great way to repurpose………especially in the throw away society we live in these days! Bravo! 👏🏻
Crazy in love with your dog
Haha isn’t she wild?! We are working on using all that energy and genius for good 😂
Your art is interesting and creative. My art change with a head injury/you cannot plan anything. This homeless lady in a wheelchair came to Church. She so excited about adding color to coloring books for adults. I got out the art again______________________________________________🖋🖊🖌🖍!
You had me at “imposter syndrome”. Yes, I trauma bond. I’m working on it. This was inspiration and relatable. Thank you for sharing.
Stumbled across your video and am SO glad. Loved this! It has reignited a fire in me to start creating again.
I would love to see more videos like this...especially with thrifted art. Youre so talented!
Very enjoyable experience…creative and well presented. Thank you!
Thank you so much for sharing your process. I am a thrifter/reseller and lover of art. I'm feeling very inspired by your video. It's been a while since I've created my own art and I'm loving what you have done. Thank you for the motivation ✨🎨☀💖
Glad you’re feeling inspired!
Wow - thank you so so much for sharing this. You’ve sparked my imagination 😊
You inspire me. And that my friend, takes you beyond artist, adds so much. I bless you..❤

So it’s decoupage 2.0!! Fantastic and beautiful!!!!
I love the fact that anyone could do this!
Beautiful! I love “Torn Sky”. So beautiful! I have a million paintings and frames. Maybe I could make something out of them… 😊. Thank you for the tips!
Thank you so much for watching! I hope you make something amazing with your materials! Let me know how it turns out ❤️
Didn't quite see how you blank out the eyes. I totally LOVE your art...thanks for sharing.
I absolutely love the tutorial. Thank you for sharing all your tips and tricks. 💚💚 I’m definitely gonna try it!
Just a little tip, try using wallpaper adhesive instead of mod podge when initially adhering the paper I find that you get less wrinkles when using prints.
Great tip! Thank you!
Thankyou for these tips. I've always wanted to be "arty", and make paintings and mixed media art. But I get stuck all the time in the belief I'm not creative. All the worries you expressed are the same ones I have. Your tips really help
Wow, you’re very creative! Thanks for sharing!
My goodness, you are GORGEOUS, my friend.
I absolutely love your Devine artistry ❤I am learning how to explore new techniques and to relax and let myself just flow with what I am feeling.. not always easy. Sometimes we are our own worst critic 😊.. but I'm getting there. Love your videos!!!❤
I went to art school and I still don't feel like a "real" artist, do not let it stop you!
Haha you know that life Molly! Definitely not letting it stop me! Hope you don’t either ❤️🙌🏻
Absolutely agree with you on inspiration, I've used alot of ideas from you tubers, but I always put my own spin on it
Love that!
What you did is very cool. Thank you for sharing your process. I admire your finished works.
I was just looking at an art piece today that my old roommate thrifted, thinking how I should donate it... but now I'm thinking I should just paint over it!
The photo of the man is amazing. He’s a very handsome guy. Would love to have him in my home as well. You obviously know where to look online. Great job.
So happy to know that the procrastination for fear of messing isn’t just me. Thank you for posting this!❤
Wow!!!! Fantastic video. I’m breathing heavy. I’m 65. This could be dangerous. But, worth it!!!
I accidentally watched this video, and I feel you have a great eye and absolutely love both pieces. You have talent and although the work spilled out of you it shows me you are a true artist. Thanks for sharing.
Wow! Your creativity is amazing, I love these.
Thanks Rose!
I'm so happy I found this channel.
