That's actually a huge problem in Calgary. City councillors, local media, and even the mayor have criticised Downtown Calgary nightlife. One City Councillor said, "Downtown Calgary becomes an empty parking lot after 4:00PM." The problem is retainment, there's a huge influx of people entering downtown during the day, and after school and work, the people return back to the suburbs and leave the downtown core empty.
It's not a bad looking bridge, now that we have it but it was a pity that Canada didn't have any qualified architects. We need to be doing something to ensure our architects are good enough to get jobs within our own city so we don't have to hire better ones from other countries. Hiring from other countries increases costs senselessly by thousands of dollars and should be considered a very severe insult to the city's own architects as well as to taxpayers.
Bullshit,. He chose to stand in a place that isn't even supposed to be busy at night. It is only designed to support daytime activity. Plenty of places around Calgary's core are certainly more than comparable with any city close to Calgary in size. Actually, Calgary's nightlife mostly trounces the near size cities in night activity. Fact is cities more than twice Calgary's size look pale and skinny as compared to this futuristic wonder city of the future. Insanely this report attempts to belittle this hyper city. Foolishness in their fake news as is the only thing they're ever going to report.
Visit those downtown streets on a Friday or Saturday night, and they'll be crowded. The good people of Calgary work Mon-Fri, and have to rise early. Herein lays the difference Mr. Hume.

Calgary has a lower population density than Mississauga... OOF
Aneczka Plisetsky... Because it is geographically one of the largest cities in North America. Low population density does not mean low population.
