Bought an 03’ for $8500 with 59k miles. Spent a total of $1500 on three separate windows that failed. After Hurricane Hillary passed, I went outside to find all 4 windows were magically lowered and water had got into the car…electrics went haywire. After 6 months of marketing, it was sold for $2900. Not a single regret, it’s a fantastic car
In our family, the Freelander is 1 1.8 06 years old with a mileage of 248,548 miles since 2009 in Russia. Unfortunately, there are absolutely few spare parts, but I try to keep the car in very good condition. Very reliable. I don't plan to break up. But I would really like to upgrade to new original spare parts, which, unfortunately, is impossible in the current realities (
I definitely get more than 37mph in my TD4, more near 55-60 on the motorway it has a chiptune box ( tuning box ) on it :)
What's a chiptune box
@@omarionbilly9677 It's a little box that connects to the fuel rail sensor and fools the ECU into thinking the pressure is too low, so it increases the flow rate to a higher pressure ( pump more fuel ) more fuel more power :)
@@JustCallMeHorse Surely a greater fuel rate leading to more power, also leads to greater fuel consumption and therefore LOWER mpg? Unless I'm missing something.
Awesome video
Thanks. Comments like this are really appreciated as it makes all the tiny edits and hours of extra work to make the best video possible for you feel worthwhile 👍
The move from the L-Series to the TD4 was a major downgrade having dealt with both.
The TD4 is a hateful thing, endless issues. But the L (while souding like a washing machine full of gravel) is just about the most unbreakable engine I've ever encountered. Amazing low end torque from low revs too.
I'm in the market for a td4 what's issues do you had?
@gianniselleslach7408 The fuel system is the main weak point. It uses three fuel pumps all of which are useless and break constantly, particularly in colder climates.
They absolutely wreck the front suspension because the engine is absurdly heavy. A diesel auto is 300kg heavier than the 1.8 petrol.
The TD4 manual has a habit of blowing up slave cylinders as the hydraulics weren't really rated for that engine in that application.
Beyond that all the ancillaries bolted to them engineal are pretty poor. Alternators are very failure prone (and extremely awkward to access and replace) and the thermostats are notorious for sticking open. They're located right on the back of the engine against the firewall and it's a horrible job to replace.
Beyond that they're not great on fuel for a 2.0 diesel and they feel slow and lethargic. Great car, but that engine for me was a world of trouble.
@@SpitfireFortyFour I get it I would want one as a tow rig so I can move my classic cars and make some money on the side as car transporter . Did you have one while it was new. Maybe some parts are re engineered or improved by aftermarket suppliers by now . Don't know cause it would be my first land rover
Can I fix 1.8 engine in V6 freelander
