Thanks James, I saw the kinks SO many times in the 70s! I lost count. They were probably top of my favorite bands. The School Boy's In Discrase album tour was awesome! The show was a theater play, lots of their shows were. I remember the Head Master with a horrific mask on....chaccing the school boys around the stage with a stick. Pesivation Act 1 And 2 were Great too. I love Ray's butterscotch Tellecaster he played in a number of his shows. Thanks James! Ray Boston Massachusetts USA
i LOVE... LOVE LOVE this number... thank you for helping to keep the wonderful music of the Kinks alive and in the present tense. that end of the song, after the held Dmaj with the twiddly pinky thing, hit the Gmaj, drop down to Em, then back up to the Gmaj and you are golden.
Dave Davies! Well done! He's a Les Paul guy - like you! Had a ticket to see The Kinks in 1996, but they broke up before the gig. C'est la vie. My wife saw them in in 1979, a fact she never tires of reminding me of. Seen Ray many times though. Watched Spinal Tap on NYE for the 100th time. Thought of you during the film - especially the scene when Niguel shows Marty Di Bergi his 59 Les Paul from his collection with the incredible sustain. Wonder why?
Great lesson as always James! I'm in Philly, so we have a connection now in Buffalo with Mcdermott. Birds suck this year so Im rooting for you guys to go all the way. Go Birds, go Bills!
I love this song. Question: Does anyone remember that it had a resurgence of popularity in the 1980s for some reason? I seem to remember a video on MTV, as if the song had been re-released, but can't find any indication that ever happened...
Don’t know if you’ll see this but could you explain what you did on the second D chord in the chorus, you skipped right by it in the video and I can’t tell what strings you’re playing and if there’s an open g note in there or not
Working on many Kinks songs, a Kinks Kick, never realized how great Dave Davies was, quote: "It wasn't called heavy metal when I invented it." Saw then twice '79 SUNY Binghamton, '83 Philly Spectrum, awesome, cheers@@jamesjames9275
Nah, but to be honest, I don't fuss with that stuff too much. If something's buzzing badly, I'll give it some attention, but for the most part, I'll play whatever you hand me.
While I find so much value in your videos, mostly because of your impeccable sense of rhythm, I find this one hard to watch because it serves as a stark reminder that the Broncos stupidly passed on Josh Allen in the draft......happy football day JJ....
Great one! One of my favorite things about this song is Dave's enthusiastic screaming in the background during the solo breaks. Great rocker!
Thanks James,

I've actually strummed Dave's guitar during You really got me at a show. After the show he gave me a hug.
My brother got to strum Ray's guitar during Lola at a show in 1984.
Ray Davies had some great bridge breaks. A really clever guy with melody!
Go Bills! Love the Kinks and the Davies' brothers. How about a lesson on the fabulous break from the original "You Really Got Me?" Many thanks!
You rock dude! Love the Kinks and your sense of humor, and appreciate you taking time on game day!!
Good time to be be a Bill's fan that's for sure. All the best for 2021 !!!.
This is brilliant . I didn't buy many 45's , mainly LP's . This is one 45 I bought. Loved Ray Davies /Kinks .

I like your lessons, they are always very accurate 👍👌😀
superb, straight from the top draw
Awesome!! Thanks for taking the time to teach this. I love it!! Do you still post videos? (I notice this says 3 years ago) peace brother!
Go Bills! Thanks for the lesson.
What a great song
I like playing the opening info riff in E pentatonic. It's just more natural for me. Same notes, I just play it *as if* that part is in E
"Ray Davies is smarter than that "................indeed, Ray Davies is just about the smartest. and one of the Greatest. wb

Well, the Kinks themselves had a resurgence in the 80s, so a lot of their songs got radio play around the period of Come Dancing.
The Kinks had a resurgence in the 89’s when their Low Budget album came out.
@@jamesjames9275 That must be it. The era I'm thinking was in fact right around Come Dancing
The Fall covered it and it was a minor hit. Check that version, it’s great.
The Fall and Sonic Youth both covered it which might’ve had some part in that
Dave Davies. Riff master
Found you from your incense and peppermints cover years back
wow my brother i dont know this peticular cut from the kinks but i just gained a ton of new guitar figures.. thanks so much
you make it look so easy 😅
Great great lesson. Thanks!!
Squirrels fall pretty regularly with a loud thump. Doesn’t seem to hurt them, though
He was dazed for a little bit, but he looked OK. I half-expected to see little stars circling his head!
Go bills
Squirrel! 🤣

James James Did you ever see the Kinks?
1984 on the Come Dancing tour.

you should do scarlet by the rolling stones with jimmy page I know it just came out so take your time but I've been wanting to learning it.
I would suggest searching my channel for it. You might get lucky.
I have a question, James: why do you root for both the Sabres and the Caps?
Yes.
Any problems adjusting intonation on your tele ? Any advice?

Hey, cut Bills fans some slack. They have feelings too!
