  • There are very few destinations in the lower 48 where you can find yourself hiking through the clouds one day, and lost in a sagebrush desert the next. If you can properly place your fly, there is a good chance you will be able to witness every color under the sun manifested in wild trout swimming free. Wildlife abound, critters of all shapes and sizes gravitate towards the life giving watersheds cutting their way through the expansive ranges. But be warned, these experiences never come free of charge. Unforeseen obstacles will always bring uncertainty to any backcountry adventures. If you come prepared and are willing to be flexible with plans.. there is a good chance you will experience it all to its fullest. This is going to be a few days fly fishing in Idaho.

This is gonna feel like a weird post but I believe it's worth making the comment. I'm 39, live in Wisconsin, and spend as much free time as I can on the streams. I recently found out I have Leukemia (the kind most don't get until they are in their late 60s) and it's changed the way I look at life to say the least. I wanted to let you know how much I appreciate the time and commitment you put into your videography. Not only because it selfishly allows me to settle down after the week and not think about my new normal, but because it will allow you to look back at all the amazing experiences you've been able to have through life, and that's what it's all about my friend. Keep making great videos, but more importantly, even better memories!

Damn.. I really dont know what to say.. I am really sorry to hear about the diagnosis.. I am wishing you the best and am hoping you fight like hell. I am so glad you enjoy these videos and hearing this makes all the work put in more than worth it. Tight lines.

@FLY ALL SZN - No need to say anything bro, but appreciate it. Just keep in mind, life can turn on a dime (no matter how healthy you are), so enjoy the shit out of every day. You ever get up to Central Wisconsin hit me up. Will get you out for some killer hopper action or take you on a hell of a steelhead experience. Tight lines

We fished summit lake a few years ago and had the same experience there. Saw lots of frogs, a few small greyling but no trout. We did catch some at Boulder though. I haven’t fished Louie but I really enjoyed the hike up and so I’ll definitely make the loop this spring sometime.

So inspired to make it out West to get some fishing in. Just ordered some decent waders and boots. Heading to Sundance in December but it's going to be epic in the Provo River. Meantime the N. GA mountains will keep me plenty busy.

Thourghly enjoyed your video. I have had a similar experience with a little grayling. I caught one in Yellowstone and like yours it went belly up. I left it in the lake and came back to check it after a few minutes and it was gone. I’m guessing it swam away on its’ own. I didn’t see any other wild animals around that would have eaten it. I’ve had similar experiences with stocker rainbows where they appeared to go belly up. But I would put them in a willow creel and put it in the lake and after while they had revived and swam off on their own. Long term survival? I don’t know.
