The writers (most likely male writers) seem to take sadistic pleasure in writing torture scenes targeting women; pulling out the stops for the cruelest, most humiliating and unjust degrading punishment against the leading female character before they write her in love with her abuser. This is a typical scenario in dramas...is this considered Asian foreplay? If it is...NO THANKS. The women are written as masochistic, weak and subservient to an asshole leading character.

How is she ugly? If these dramas reflect one thing only perhaps it is that Asians are superficial and shallow, i don't see anything ugly about her, and she is many times over prettier than I am.
I can't watch this type of show because I think it makes the Male MC look very weak, stupid and ignorant. He is supposed to be the Emperor and yet he has no power to do anything but do what his "servants" tell him to. I also think that the female MC is to weak to stand up and fight. They always obey. I understand loyalty to their Emperor but it should be earned not just given. He does not deserve any! I would have stabbed him through the heart without remorse when I held it against his chest in that one scene when she was being choked. Of course I would have died, but I rather die than live as a Slave. Obedience does not automatically make you a great person.
