It's been 3 years I'm listening to this music, and still go on!
Perfect song for a child who was raised with a narcissist mother and basically the whole family. I believed for years that I was always doing something wrong and it made me feel crazy. And now I realize it wasn't me, it was them. When I'm questioning my sanity or wondering if their gaslighting tactics are the truth, I put this on and it helps.

i had a narcissist step dad who watched me most when i was 10 - 13...... my mom was always at work and i was too little to think to tell my real dad. my mom knew he was an issue but never knew how big of an issue. i saw them fight.... physically. she tried to strangle him. if it wasn't for my brother, he'd be dead. in the end, he took everything out on me. i always blamed myself. looking back, this song makes me realize that it was him. not me. I also wish i had thought to tell my father. woulda been smart. But this song helps... when I get depressed and start reminiscing on the past, this song really helps.

For me it's the step mom, my real mom and dad broke up and me and my sister twin sister had overnight visits and her new bf killed my sister and now my mom and her bf are in prison and the bf is getting out soon btw this happened in 2003 and now.my step mom doesn't understand the shit I've been through and she treats me like shit so I only consider my dad as my parent

Why does it matter whether or not the band is Christian? If you really like the band then just listen to the music. Just because they could possibly be a Christian band and you dont believe in God doesnt mean you should stop listening to them.

A song's meaning is different depending on the person. Sure, the song's writer probably had a specific meaning for the song when they wrote it, but I doubt they expected people to interperate it only in that way.
Anyways, Skillet is one of my favorite bands. Their lyrics and sound are truely works of art.
