I read a comment talking about how neither side is "right or wrong". I like the sentiment but I think the weirdo turning people into hammers and shit is in the wrong. I like how we cut to Hanami and Dagon's death spots during Mahito's speech and later we cut to Itadori's fists, Nobara's hammer, and Nanami's cleaver during Todos speech, its a nice parallel.
Hmm. I don't necessarily think the Disaster Curses are right or wrong persay. But they do provide an interesting insight of things. Hanami's whole thing was that humans sucked and destroyed the earth and polluted it and she wanted to get rid of them so the earth could blossom fully. Dagon's issue was that humans care about themselves but not about the other people they hurt or toss aside along the way. Jogo's ideals were that Curses were the true humans because they were created from them and they were the raw, unfiltered versions of things created from humanity. And Mahito is a mirror to humanity. All of humanity's savagery and wickedness and the horror of how quickly your fellow man can betray you or laugh at your suffering. Mahito especially is simply following his instincts and doing what he was essentially created to do. Because he was born recently and is still essentially a child, he feels joy at being able to do what he was made to do.
FYI people standing still are the same ones that got hit with gojo's 0.2 domain. So they are like in a vegetable state for the next 2-3 months as narrator explained in ep9. Also Mahito's soul can be damaged through yuji and nobara. They are the only ones they can attack his soul directly. That is why mahito said yuji was not only his natural enemy, it is nobara too.
I just wanna say first and foremost, Mahito's VA DELIVERED. Now, onto the analysis. I think it's very fitting that Mahito was the first Black Flash of S2 and first BF from a cursed spirit. He is both learning and fully embracing his nature. He is comfortable with who he is. He is a very young curse, so his potential and room to grow are nearly limitless. Considering that even after all this, Mahito still feels like his soul has another form of evolution that he's so close to reaching. He causes pain, fear, hatred, despair. He is a true curse. I've always loved that speech he gave Yuji during the beatdown. He's doing what he was born to do. Yuji being in the fight is why he can't just transfigure Yuji and Todo and instantly win the fight(due to Sukuna being inside Yuji and touching their souls together is too big of a risk). But it's also providing Mahito the room to grow and evolve. Yuji, Todo and Mahito have brought out 120% of their potential. And as Mahito said to Yuji in the end, this will be their final chance to curse each other.
God, this episode is so damn good. Despite all the action and both Todo and Mahito being amazing, my favorite scene has gotta be Miwa and Mechamaru's conversation. That genuinely got me teary-eyed, Miwa's VA crushed it.
In the movie Mechamaru was around Miss and protected her from some curses. There was also a small scene in season one where I picked on him kind of liking her.
Other people have already covered why there are people standing around, why Todo’s black flash seemed not to work, etc. so I’ll just say I’m so happy to see Todo back after several episodes of just non stop misery. “We are the exception!” Iconic.
9:24 Remember Gojo's domain expansion? Well, those who were involved in that expansion, even though Gojo used it for 0.2 seconds, those 0.2 seconds caused all the people to be in a vegetable state and according to the narrator they were going to recover in 2 months, they WERE going to, because Mahito is now using them as weapons...
Wy mean how. Any curse energy user has the ability to hit a black flash. They gotta be in the zone and have a certain understanding of cursed energy tho.
Just commenting on the question why no one runs away. Most people can't see curses so they only see Todo and Yuji. Pergaps they do see some of the things Mahito makes but not Mahito himself.
@@martinplayz3887 Are they that close to that station? I mean it would explain it. Also I just realized Mahito used transfigured humans so they would be able to see those if they were not paralyzed.

Fr! It really is a matter of perspective to a degree, Mahito is just unhinged tho.
Mahito is right, Yuji is him

I also forgot we saw Todo's "wings of freedom" during his speech
That is a really good parallel!

All the civilians are frozen because they were in Gojo's domain for a split second

Mahito is freaking awesome

have you forgotten gojo did domain expansion that rendered them unconscious

It's not that, but that they simply can't move, Gojo's domain expansion paralyzed them.
