  • here is my latest drone video. visited Bayview and Farragut State Park in Idaho (Athol area). flew from the FRIA area in the north side of the park area. unlike Washington State parks where you need a special permit to fly, Idaho state parks are different (more like the Oregon state parks) where the rules seem to vary by park. some allow them, some don't. Farragut State park has a model aircraft field (FRIA site), got views of Pend Orilee in the distance along the nearby park area (lake is too far out to fly to per vlos, so I got views of the lake from a distance). elsewhere at Farragut state park, not really sure what the rules are concerning drones other than a vague rule on no motorized toys. not sure if thst woild include drones are not, but if if anyone living in north idaho is more familiar with at area, feel free to fill me in on that one. also visited the Bayview area (photos taken with cellophane along with the rest of the state park area).
may consider flying in the Bayview area on a future visit. one thing yo be aware of in Bayview is that there is a small naval base near the town. interestingly, while Aloft Air control don't show any airspace restrictions in Bayview, there are signs near the base warning against drone flying. i suspect that the area is kinda like the Everett Waterfront where airspace restrictions are centered right over the base (meaning you are fine flying along the Everett Waterfront unless of you fly too close to the base), seemsoke the situation in Bayview migjt be similar in that you can probably fly from one of the marinas there as long as you don't fly too close to the base area. however, i wouldn't know that for sure.
one other thing: it has come to my attention that the US congress is proposing a bill (countering the ccp drones act), and that is aimed at effectively banning dji drones in America and ultimately revoking the fcc licensing for dji drones (can also get extended to autel, holy stone and other Chinese made drones if some politicians have their way. I oppose the bills and I recommend visiting thr drone advocy alliance website and read up on the proposed bills and information on how to reach out to your congress representative. Hopefully the bills do not pass, but if they do, I might not be able to continue posting drone footage, and it will not only affect me, but other drone pilots as well. I am all for American made drones , but American drone makers will need to step up their game and make better and more affordable drones. probably better to wean Americans off of Chinese made drones slowly than to go cold turkey.
