Paul Simon virtually said the same thing when he wrote Bridge Over Troubled Water. He was listening to J.S. Bach Chorales (possibly lifting a few progressions), when he was inspired to write this tune.

i really like this song. homestay mother she always used to sing Blackbird when their kids fall asleep. it was sleeping song and she was pretty good at sining. i miss her whenever i hear the song.
To me, one measure of a well-written song is how it stands up to re-styling. This was first sublime as done by The Beatles and has been redone beautifully by various artist (as above) Bobby McFerrin did a wonderful version of this.
How does someone get to be as beautiful as Sarah McLachlan ? You got to believe in G-d and miracles. That's the only explanation, that I can think of. AL
