  • Nicaragua has barred the European Union's ambassador after the bloc condemned "systematic repression" of dissent by the government.
President Daniel Ortega has been accused of cracking down on opponents since 2018, when hundreds of people were killed and many more imprisoned during anti-government protests.
Now, rights campaigners say he is using a new tactic to silence his critics.
Al Jazeera's Latin America editor Lucia Newman reports.

I am a U.S. born citizen and for 50 yrs my Nicaraguan parents tried to explain Nicaraguan politics to me. It is so confusing. I'd rather have root canal then try to decipher their politics. I feel sorry for the Nicaraguan people that have to try to have a normal life with these corrupt politicians. Good luck
