    So true mate! Been trying to tell people search results aren’t a great indicator.
    You don’t need to worry about literally 90% of books showing
    Another thing to mention…
    When you type in say Vegetarian cookbook for beginners….get to page 2/3 and all sorts of shit pops up- Keto, carnivore, paleo etc. furthest thing from competition

    Right...makes sense. While entering a niche, low number of Exact matches on page 1 for keyword in Title + Subtitle - is it a good thing or not? With very low exact matches (like 2 or less) the search results are kind of vague. Everyone is having different opinions on this.

    • @barrygeorgioukdp
      @barrygeorgioukdp  Месяц назад

      I'm not 100% sure i understand your question. Could you rephrase it please

    • @allcaps5493

      @@barrygeorgioukdp My apologies for the ambiguity; here’s a clearer version of my question.
      I am trying to decide a niche to publish my book into. Let's take your example of "Vegetarian cookbook for beginners". When the search results appear, say out of 48 results, the titles of 5 of them contain this exact keyword - "Vegetarian cookbook for beginners". Other results are somewhat related, like - "The Plant-Based Diet for Beginners", or some other results have low relevance to the keyword we used.
      So what I am asking is, is this "number of Exact matches" an important criteria while deciding whether to publish the book in that niche? If yes, then what is the optimal number? If there are less number of exact matches - the results are all over the place. If there are too many exact matches, then the competition is high for that keyword. Your thoughts please.

    • @barrygeorgioukdp
      @barrygeorgioukdp  Месяц назад +1

    Great video bro, and I stopped giving much attention to search results many years ago. Although I often advise beginners relying on organic sales to look at search results to determine competition, as I think to a *certain degree* it may help to determine how competitive a niche is.

    It’s a good perspective to look at the niche research in fact if the book is on page 3-5-50 for the “vegetarian cookbook for beginners”, it might be still your competitor because there is a chance it’s ranking for a bunch of similar keywords and still making decent sales. IMO it’s better to look at your category bestsellers. That’s where you see all your competitors and identify who is really the competitor and who is just there by accident.

    • @barrygeorgioukdp
      @barrygeorgioukdp  Год назад +2

      Very good question. The more important question to ask is 'How can I make my book stand out from the competitors?'. This way the number of competitors won't matter as much because you are unique but if you really want me to give you a solid number, I like to publish in niches with roughly 3-8 high selling competitors :)

    So, if there are 10k results and only 6-7 books are selling is it a good niche? Just to clarify some thoughts I have in my head right now.. hmm
    And also what happens if we increase this number progressively. For example 20k results but 12 books are selling. Is it the same or it starting to get lost since the search results are going massively high? And what about 5k results and 2 are selling vs 10k results 10 selling? I'm just trying to understand the "ratio" of it

    • @barrygeorgioukdp
      @barrygeorgioukdp  Год назад

      Great question. I don't look at ratio but I like niches with 5k results and under before I start counting my actual competitors :)

    • @VirusTechKEKW
      @VirusTechKEKW Год назад

      @@barrygeorgioukdp That should do it. Cool! And if out of those 5k results the 2 are selling well, is it good to go for that niche? Or you maybe look for a niche with 5k results and 4-5 books that are selling? This basically means you have to compete with more books since it's not only 2 but like 5 but doesn't that also mean the demand is bigger?

    • @barrygeorgioukdp
