- Chris Lowe plays It's a Sin on the famous Wurlitzer organ in the Tower Ballroom, Blackpool. This is from the opening credits of the documentary "A Life in Pop" (2006) so it's intercut with footage from later on during it. #petshopboys #chrislowe #itsasin #wurlitzer #blackpool
I can look at it endlessly 😍
Chris is a synth legend
Lowe
Pet Shop Boys were the best back in the day. "West End Girls" is still one of my all-time favorite songs.
Behavior and Introspective are my goto albums for cleaning the garage.
Goosebump material for me. Bravo. Chris is the best.
This absolutely suits this song. Love it.
I listen to Pet Shop Boys everyday in the car . Always on my mind is the number 1 best 80's dance song .
One may have that opinion but the Boys were so blessed and productive (they are the Mozarts of the 20th century) that I personally don't consider a cover as one of their flagship songs. But they did a great job hands down with it. I quote someone else from the same period: "Anything he lays his fingers on, turns to gold"
Absolutely fantastic it's a sin my favourite and sounds stunning on the wurlitzer
Lucky man. The Tower authorities don't just let anyone loose on the famous Ballroom Wurlitzer. A real privilege!
I am sure you can arrange it for the right reasons, they're not just going to let anyone rock up and play. But a film crew and pre-arranged would be easy I would imaging for their own marketing and publicity. Also I am sure if you have a few million in the bank you could make a donation to their restoration fee and I'm sure they will let you have a play.
@@markylon you can pay for a package that includes a tour of the Wurlitzer from the small room under the stage where it resides when not I use, to riding on the bench with the organ to the stage and playing the thing. Not sure how much it costs but details will be on the website for the tower ballroom.
Cl is from blackpool. Everyone knows him
There is something magical about an organ, especially one of those and especially in that ballroom, when you hear it getting thrashed, the room is electric. That whole building is alive with nostalgia and that organ is its heart.
Elton John's great on the piano, but he sucks on the organ 😂
AMAZING!!!! NEVER HEARD OD THEM UNTIL 7 WEEKS AGO!
What a beautiful Wurlitzer organ. I heard Rodger Hodgson used one on Breakfast In America. I love to hear Chris play IAS on a Mellotron.
Pet Shop Boys are awesome! This sounds like a 1925 Phantom of the Opera song on when done on the Wurlitzer.
I have always knew he was a good keyboard player but never saw him actually playing… awesome
I was there when they first started. Great music so many memories.
Going to see them next month (June 2022). Can't bloody-well wait. Ey oop.
37 years in the business is a phenomenal achievement. I was there at the beginning, and still a huge fan. Congrats and kudos to Neil and Chris, true legends and pioneers.
Great stuff Chris..... despite his shyness, every bit as important to PSB as Neil.
At the start, everyone told Neil to get rid of Chris
@@turokforever007 Neil is nothing without Chris.
Neil Tennant said yeah I'm good, but Chris is a genius
@@indieluvver I remember an interview where Neil Tennant mentioned all those who told him to drop Chris Lowe, saying they didn't seem understand that without Chris Lowe, there would be no Pet Shop Boys at all.
@@ianb9729 It's the same for Erasure. Andy Bell is a great singer but without Vince Clarke he wouldn't have made it.
As a fellow organist, I enjoyed this short video
OMG 2 of my fav things~ Pet Shop Boys and The Mighty Wurlitzer! (these boys were in the back of my limo in LA many moons ago. thought id cream my jeans)
Superb an amazing man with an amazing talent. ♥️
I was the guy lucky enough to meet Chris and coach him playing our Wurlitzer in the Ballroom
Literally goosebumps 0:52
Love it !
Absolutely fantastic
It’s harder to play because of the slight delay from pressing the keys to hearing the notes. He really bossed it.
Lindooooooooooo 👌👌👌👌👌👌👌
Fantastico
Chris is originally from Blackpool so its fitting that he has a go on the big one lol
Music triggers emotions deep in the psyche, flashing memories from the time they were heard or attributed to.
Ledgend !!!!
This was amazing. Thank you. Just seen Pet Shop Boys in SF at the Chase Center a few weeks ago...along with New Order. Bucket List double checked!!
Great musician and keyboard player
That just works !
Fantastic, perfect to be played on a Wurlitzer.
Wow that was great...
Cool but way too short. Would have loved to see more.
OMG! This is amazing! This must be so difficult to play organ!
An instrument that size is usually a little easier to play and get something out of than one that's smaller.
@@TurtleFL are you an organist?
He's playing one set of keys with his hands and another set with his feet!
WOW
Brilliant
Would love to hear the whole interview
Superb!
I've rekindled my love for PSB's.
Great
Just 3 comments!! We should all be amazed by what a good Organist Chris is !!!
Masterpiece
Wow!!!!!
First time hearing pet shop boys 15 exchange hotel Oxford street Sydney Australia with all my gay friends. This would come on and the crowd would immediately dance where ever we were standing . Love you PSB thanks for reminding me how good it was gosh 37 yrs ago , that doesn’t sound possible but it was lol xoxox love Sydney Australia 🇦🇺
I remember being there, too! A great time and great memories.
@@PaulAnslow hey Paul so much fun and high energy depending on the level you were on but I grew up there among many of my dearest friends who all looked after me seeing I didn’t get into trouble. Sigh the good old days lol I have no idea where my get up and go got up and went but It has long gone honey lol
Blackpool finest
i especially liked the way you edited out the bandicam crap on your screen when you ripped this from the DVD. Good jorb!
Tell you what. If you don't like the Bandicam "crap" at the end of the video, you can always go buy the DVD.
He can speak!!!
There is a rendition of the song SOMEWHERE done by The Pet Shop Boys, he speaks in that in the lead up to the singing.
*Bill Dineley* Nope, it's dubbed.
@@PlanetIscandar hahahaha.....
@@billyfouronesix Bill ;)
Playing that legendary beast is no easy feat.
Used to love going to the Capri Theatre in Adelaide and watching the organ and organist disappear under the stage before the movie started.
Грехи и орган за них - хорошо сочетается...
Как в церкви искупление
❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
Brilliant. Pet Shop Boys, ft: Fats Waller.
I would love to hear you guys on a church organ
I've been looking for this documentary in all the web, a life in pop, and still can't find it
Part 3 is here ruclips.net/video/_a-riw3Psdw/видео.html but it looks like the other parts were removed for copyright reasons. Even my short video has a copyright claim on it.
That consul looks similar to one at the BCT.
My nana was the organist at the tower in the 70sAnd early 80s
Kathy Haye? (Not 100% on spelling)
Genial ....
What a gem of a clip!
Very fun
Sounds kinda cool 😎.
wow those organs took some strength to lay ...........
Lowe is from blackpool
It's a Sin By Pet Shop Boys.
Super chlopaki
Play “Take me out to the ballgame”!!
Is there a full version of this somewhere without all the talking?
Holy shit, he speaks!
Be even better if Bertini and his band were accompanying the organ!
Wurlitzer one for the money ....
Why do people always add "THE" to Pet Shop Boys. The band is called PET SHOP BOYS and not THE PET SHOP BOYS.
Should the title of this not be 'Chris Lowe plays with his massive organ'?
Giggedy!
Surely a more accurate title would be.... 'Chris Lowe plays with somebody else's massive organ.....(using both hands)'.
@@BuyOneGetOneFree ... and foot
I know the quiet one, mate.
I sense the Martin Gore vibes here
Martin Gore? Eh?
mel brroks spends his nickel on ham and cheese
It wasn't him playing...
Thought it was Sparks , then I realised it was the imitators.
The Ironist Entertains
(clever, that)
QUICK! Someone teach him correct pedal technique! With his whole leg bouncing up and down on the pedalboard, he'll wear it out in no time.
Obviously didn't want a continuous bass note, yes ?
Frankly I’m impressed he could play anything with his feet at the same time as keys! It’s easy to assume and 80s pop star wouldn’t even know where to start with an organ - I’m surprised!
Sorry Chris....as a one finger synth player .....learn the Organ!!!!!
Was he gay?
One hit wonder.
Lmao furthest thing from it. They were hardly out of the charts between the mid-80s and mid-90s and had some huge hits in that time, plus Neil's involvement with Electronic and as a songwriter.
Used to love going to the Capri Theatre in Adelaide and watching the organ and organist disappear under the stage before the movie started.
