Just got back into swimming and thought I was swimming in an Olympic sized pool. Unfortunately it was only 25m.. no Olympic pace for me 😅

The video tells every dimension except for: How deep? Two meters is the minimum, three meters is recommended. If the depth be three meters, the volume is 3750 cubic meters and if the pool were filled with seawater, it would contain around 48 micrograms of gold.

    False start rope?

Back in the older days of swimming, they would have a false start rope. If someone false started or a starting system failure and people dived in, they would drop the flags. The idea was that then they would hit the flags and realize that there was a problem and stop swimming. It isn’t like that anymore because swimmers could potentially get tangled up in the ropes, leading to a lot of bigger problems. If you go to some older facilities, you can still see where the flags were sometimes.
