    Yes to be fair enough just separate each lanes with a thick transparent glass so that each swimmer swim in their own medium so that there will be less turbulent and vortex create by the swimmer if not no body can beat the one who are in the middle rows/lanes as we know water molecules will be attracted to the side of the wall there by instead of moving forward the side swimmer are always lagging behind then in the middle row.
