Well, I'm recovering from my left shoulder dysfunctionality. This will come in helpful if I survive the Hyper inflation and my country doesn't become the "Communist Republic of Argentina"
Zack, one of my favorite things about watching your videos, is how fucking hype you get when your athletes hit big lifts. Shows that you're really invested and actually care about them!
I've been doing a split jerk pin lockout and that has helped my jerk mobility and stability tremendously. I set the safeties in my squat rack to the highest point, then get in a split position, extend my arms, and just lift the bar off the pin a couple inches, hold it, then back down. It has helped so much to strengthen my scapula and shoulders while helping me feel comfortable in the catch position. Highly recommend it for people new-ish to weightlifting who don't quite have the upper body mobility to comfortably catch the bar in the jerk.
I'll be honest, I don't do Olympic lifting, but you've got some damn good content. I really wish someone in the rock climbing space made videos like yours. Keep it up man.
For the love of the fucking god Zack, please put the song name on the description dude. I love you music taste and have a hard timing finding these songs...
Good stuff Zack! I have sometimes landed with my front foot more forward, which I always thought was problematic/inefficient. Good to know this might actually be something to try to do more intentionally and consistently.
Extremely clear explanation. Who is taller, Lascha or you? Would and could you explain the clean and press technique sometime? I also want to train pressing strength. How would you program Oly for a Crossfit style WOD? Or a more general fitness training?
Got my USAW-1 back in March and I discovered that my split jerk sucked ass. Front foot hit first and was shallow so my torso was pretty far forward all the time, as well I never split WIDE enough which was another issue holding my split back. Maybe a whole video on foot work and hip positioning may help a lot of self taught people like myself. Love yo content, Zack, keep it up.
I've noticed a lot of elite lifters use a hook-grip throughout the entire C&J movement. Is this important or can we release the hook-grip after the clean? Thanks
Speaking about the jerk head position. Where should the bar sit over at the finish? Should it be over the C-spine or the base of the skull? I hear conflicting things about this, so I’m interested on your view, Zack.
John Brady he’s actually a couple stories tall but he doesn’t show it ... every hundred years or so he goes into his full form to wage terror on woke coaches and bros that claim they train Bulgarian
Also, just because it works for a pro athlete, doesn't mean it would work for you. I'm specifically talking about Loredana Toma's split jerk. Take a look at it when you get a chance.
I've never really taken the split jerk seriously. I only have a bar at the moment, so I'm just trying to work on my technique. That back foot hits first cue is gold. I went to a properly spaced split jerk, and it felt completely natural. Almost like I've been doing it my whole life.
Hey Zack ! Thanks a lot for your videos, I have been subscribed for about a year now and I really love your content. I have started watching your videos because I wanted to do some strength and conditioning for volley ball, but now I think that I'm really starting to like Weightlifting as a sport. I'd like to progress on my technique, but unfortunately, in my country (France), OLY is not popular at all. Pardon my french, but our federation is really shitty, and I can't find a coach. So it means that I'm going to have to progress on my own. I know that there's an increasing amount of very decent content on weightlifting on youtube (for instance Aleksey's videos, or Klokov 15 episode-series of videos on snatch, or your content ;) ), but it's a bit "scattered"and I have troubles finding some well organized and comprehensive content. What do you advice I should use as content to better my technique ? Should I stick with YT or find websites ? Your n°1 french fan
ok so i know the squat jerk™ is a meme and stuff. but as a short king able to get into that position, i'd like a technical video on it. just think it might be really cool. keep it up coach
Zac please we need video about front rack mobility & flexibility special what most of the people struggling with is the rounded back in the deep of squat clean👍🏼
First 4:45 are of you and your friends lifting. To be frank I don't want to watch you lift and vlog. I want to learn how to be better. If I wanted to watch people weightlifting I would watch gold medalists.
If you want to be better, get a coach. Zach is making these videos at no cost to you, nor is he forcing you to watch. Regarding the video, you either can't read the notes on screen or know how to rewind. Apparently general comprehension is hard for you.
PSA: Your olympic weightlifting sexual innuendos involving the words 'snatch' and 'jerk' aren't funny....well... they might be.
Killjoy
Who do you think you are!? I am!
I like to fiddle with my snatch and then I move to the rack for jerk practice before getting back to the floor and cleaning.
Nobody makes you want to snatch more than Lasha
Clean more than Shi
And NOBODY makes you want to jerk more that Clarence
Just clean up your act and you'll be fine
I'll watch this after quarantine, now it's just gonna make me depressed. Love ya Zack
Bros having the time of his life rn
I forgot I was watching a weightlifting video, and just started grooving.
Yes
I believe the kids call it vibing these days.
Well, I'm recovering from my left shoulder dysfunctionality. This will come in helpful if I survive the Hyper inflation and my country doesn't become the "Communist Republic of Argentina"
At least you won't have to wait for the gains to trickle down under capitalism
Remember - invest in gold and protein then you're fine!
the day the communists take over there is gonna be an instant improvement on your technique
Whoever is playing guitar seems to quite like David Gilmour and Jimmy Herring
Or is this some live Govt Mule Have a Cigar cover
its the main squeeze have a cigar cover
@@Thorisdottir-Whitemane thanks

I'm high af right now and this guitar music is litttt
King David same. Such flow both in the lifts and the music

I lost my mind with that guitar solo. I completely spaced out. Great vid. Thanks Zack.
Do you have technique advice to ensure back foot strikes first? Drills, timing cues, etc.? Thx!
I've never snatched or clean and jerked once in all my years of lifting but never miss a video
I'll be honest, I don't do Olympic lifting, but you've got some damn good content. I really wish someone in the rock climbing space made videos like yours. Keep it up man.
can tell that telander getting into playing guitar.
For the love of the fucking god Zack, please put the song name on the description dude. I love you music taste and have a hard timing finding these songs...
i know im like 1 year late but they seem like pink floyd covers, more specifically Shine on You Crazy Diamond and Have a Cigar
*JERK* Better 😏
For some reason I thought you were gonna snatch 335 and I freaked out
Same. I thought that was a massive jump
Good stuff Zack! I have sometimes landed with my front foot more forward, which I always thought was problematic/inefficient. Good to know this might actually be something to try to do more intentionally and consistently.
I love how you use clips of world class athletes to demonstrate your points...makes it more convincing!
Extremely clear explanation. Who is taller, Lascha or you? Would and could you explain the clean and press technique sometime? I also want to train pressing strength. How would you program Oly for a Crossfit style WOD? Or a more general fitness training?
That thumbnail maks me think 🤔
I gotta improve my jerk, it’s trash only 100kg atm, I just suck at the technique
Zack can you upload a jerk mainly cycle in patreon?
I've decided quit weightlifting for all of eternity, how dare u give good ass tips so that I have to do WL again to try them?! xC

So did you guys lysol wipe the bar between your sets?
Aaaaaah good u muted those annoying birds.
That hugging was not social distancing
Best thumbnail title comb ever!
How tall is zack? He looks 9 feet tall in this video. Weird.
John Brady he’s actually a couple stories tall but he doesn’t show it ... every hundred years or so he goes into his full form to wage terror on woke coaches and bros that claim they train Bulgarian
8' at least

Cool vid. Where's the music taken from? I dig it. Sounds like a Pink Floyd Have a Cigar solo cover.
Very helpful. Especially with the feet position and balance. Thank you.
2:50 song name ?
Maybe a stupid question. Say you feel like your left leg is stronger(yes Im working on imbalances.) Which foot would i want out front?
great guitarplaying! if its you you shouldn't give lifting coaching but guitar coaching!
I know it's supposed to be back foot first, but hilariously enough I went to a Klokov seminar this year and he stated it should be at the same time

Wait this isn’t the video I was looking for...
I thought when you paid a dollar on your patreon you got all of your programs? Not just 1 program?

What's the song playin ar the beginning ??
The Main Squeeze - "Have a Cigar" (Pink Floyd)
Alex TheGuy thank you for keeping the secret, ALEX
@@zacktelander Sorry, it's Darude, Sandstorm
Hey Zack, please explain differences between traditional deadlift(powerlifting) and snatch/clean deadlift.
Jose Jam on a snatch deadlift you would do a deadlift with the wider grip as if you were going to snatch it
there is also a clean or snatch pull where you act as if you are going to complete the full movement but you only do the pull part
weighlifting: you accelerate
powerlifting: you just lift and stop
Nice

It really was a sick guitar solo. I’m glad you pointed it out.
