Call me crazy, but Duel Links is one of my favorite formats because of the card pool, ease of use, skills, and game speed. Every video showing this format some love is welcome to me. Great video!
Not really, 2 months and you can get a full run of a box, old cards are super accessible, and on top of that, you can get by with a f2p version of a deck, perfect deck building is only necessary for tournaments, which 98% of people that say that "dl is gacha" doesnt even participate or even know exists.
Other big issue I have with the game is that there is an abundance of only using structure decks no one builds they’re own decks anymore. It’s all, let’s buy this new deck that’s overpowered and use that to OTK other players
@@dontdionme9354 there isnt any of that rn. Theres net decking, but aside from that, we havent gotten any good structure since the odd eyes one back in july.
I hate the utter shit out of that card because of how annoying it is & it should be banned. Same goes for cyber slash harpie lady because of how o.p. it is & that its WAY TOO EASY to bring out. (when your on the receiving end of it anyway)
Red Eyes was my best deck for the longest time, I once won a duel because the opponent's Shi En negated the continuous trap while attacking for game, thereby activating its graveyard effect.
It never was the best deck and more of a casual player gatekeeper. It had very little success in tournaments even at the hight of its playability. In many ways however it separated bad players from better ones/p2w players, since they either had the resources or skill to deal with it
I'm just glad Red eyes is viable after hearing the bad news about it in TCG. I'm not really interested in most Tier 0 decks as I feel that goes against the spirit of what makes Yugioh Fun, when people are minmaxing all the time. I just play my favorites, hope for a good hand and have a good time.
"Duel Links lore is fun" fr, and i am really wondering where is taking us. A final showdown of everyone vs Kaiba? Because every single universe saw that something isn't right at all, V-Rains, Arc-V, Zexal, 5'ds, GX and DSOD They are like "Who created this and why?" "Who would give life to us, things of the past" (IA, Celina, Z-One, Dark King Jaden, and others). All this lore is leading to war and i'm all for it
The fact that Arc V, DSOD, VRAINS (canonically), and SEVENS (canonically) all continue their plots in duel links is nothing short of facinating. It's like Pokemon Masters EX, a way for fans of the anime to see more story long after their animes concluded. ANd there's something so heartwarming about seeing Yuya's alter egos meet each other physically. especially the scene with Sora apologizing to Yuto for attacking his home. You could feel how bad Sora felt about that and Yuto forgiving him knowing he helped Yuya save the worlds in the end and is a good kid. Though it was funny they retconned how the Sora vs Yuya first duel played out. as in the ANIME, Yuya was annoyed by Sora and didn't want to teach him, but in Duel LInks, Sora actively WAS annoying Yuya and Yuya admitted he only didn't want to teach him FOR FREE...he had to sign up for classes like everyone else. They also skipped the part where Yuya got depressed when he lost Odd eyes by making it look like Yuya KNEW that Pendulum monsters are re-summonable as Extra deck monsters when they die, instead of realizing that on accident. I think they wanted to fix Yuya's character since he was whiny an emo in the anime, but is a lot friendlier and more confident in Duel Links. I'm REALLY wondering what will happen when Yuri is added. They mentioned him. That and Playmaker finding AI was heartwarming. I really like how it's canon too and how they see Duel Links as part of the VRAINS world, making for genuine new lore. THough Zexal is literally retreading the Barian arc and the others are fully aware they're virtual versions of their (tragically deceased) IRL counterparts.
lmao Kaiba created the a goddamn Cyber Overmind, somehow connecting past and future, thats what DL looks like, the single greatest achievement in all human history, just so Kaiba could play card games its fucking hilarious.
Slight Correction; Dread Master can be summoned to the field by ANY Means. However, the effect to revive 2 D - Hero monsters only activates if you summon it by the field spell. It's protection effect triggers the moment it summons in any manner (Normal or any other special summon) and it doesn't activate. Giving you pretty good protection for D Heroes.
32:17 / Correction: Turning monsters into insects was very important in the tier zero Six Samurai format since Shi En required a warrior tuner and it was the most common deck used to counter Six Sam since it also turned off Dual Wield.
The Gate Guardian skill was also used in a couple of horrifically toxic orcust brews. The GG monsters could make dracosack in the emz to get 4 monsters on field, then go for the good old “any two monster” orcust plays - with the added bonus of either getting decode talker extended out, or using knightmare orcust as a 7 to do ebon magician stuff. You pretty much had to go first, but it was essentially a pseudo ftk - some builds even ran tools for an actual ftk with catapult turtle and equip spells.
I once dueled someone in pvp who used the gate guardian skill & I beat them with gear golem the moving fortress. Just shows how flawed a skill like that can be.
Can confirm that Malevolent Sin is indeed still dangerous even today in Duel Links. Also, I ran a Malefic deck for a few months. Paradox's skill allowing Malefic World to activate at the start was indeed very, very good. Also, Clock Tower Prison was a MENACE during Legacy Duels a few months ago. For those who don't play Duel Links, Legacy Duels are PvP matches that only use card pools from that era of the anime. In the GX version, only cards used during the GX anime/manga were allowed to be used. They also gave a bunch of pre-made Decks for those who don't have enough cards to make a decent deck. Aster's pre-built Deck had Clock Tower Prison get 4 counters almost immediately and allowed him to summon Vision Hero Trinity ASAP, so most people only ever ran Aster. Still wondering where the hell the Black Luster Soldier crew are, though. The Soul of Light and Darkness has made them one of the most broken decks ever, and the recent nerf didn't do THAT much damage to it. DL has also started dropping "Archive Skills" which are usable among all Duelists. One of them allows you to draw MST when you lose LP, while another one lets you regain 2000 LP if you have a total Link Rating of 3 or more on the field, then on Turn 5 you can send 4 Link Monsters from your GY to your Extra Deck and add one Crusadia Avermax from outside your Deck. Another one boosts Charmers by allowing you to set Awakening of the Possessed from outside of your deck if you have all the Familiar Possessed Monsters in your Deck. Oh, and there's a bundle pack that gives you MST, so you don't need to invest in the box to get a single copy.
Even after all the power creep and all the insane Backrow/Extra Deck monster Duel Links have gotten since it was first introduced, Malevolent Sin is still one of the most used Extra Deck monster in the game.
I had no idea that Malevolent Sin was trash in the card game By reading his effect in DL, i thought he was good in both versions I've been getting into YGO through DL because building an IRL deck or finding other people to play with is pretty much impossible, loving these videos so far
Yea it was too slow and certain card benefits for being banish plus it targets. DL help it shine but even still it rank up is still slow to rank it to it higher form
Duel LInks is kind of different metawise as it still kind of plays to the old format style where it's less about big combos to prevent your opponent from playing the game and still more about outclassing your opponent with attack power. He often says "Raising attack power doesn't matter in the TCG cause you'll usually see people wipe your board with effects". In Duel LInks, attack power is often the only way to beat out most monsters and having a big body on the field is always worth respecting. The 20 card deck size really limits the value of cards like lightning vortex or even drowning mirror shield because using a turn setting up a defense is a turn you're not mounting an offense. So in the long game it could cost you. That's what makes Malevolent sin so good. But he did say that it's not BAD in the TCG, it was just powercrept a bit by cards that have stronger effects, which matters more in the TCG as games usually last in fewer turns...even if they take forever to pull off.
28:54 ?????? This isn't true though? Hang On Mach doesn't prevent you from discarding for Karma Cut or Raigeki Break. Neither card specifically asks the card to be discarded to the GY. It just has to be discarded.
V Salamander is one of my favorite examples of a terrible anime card being made a rogue meta threat through a skill alone. Order of Chaos literally just gets rid of all of its weaknesses. You no longer have to set up your grave with Utopia, and your normal summon can be an additional one if you have a card you are willing to shuffle back into deck.
Just to be "that guy". The tower is the Elizabeth Tower. The largest bell inside it is called Big Ben. Although "Big Ben" has become the nickname for the entire tower, so whatever.
i love these videos cause when i got back into yugioh it was way too complicated for me but then duel links released. and i get a lot of nostalgia from these videos
Duel LInks got me back into the game too (after binge watching all of Zexal...EVERY episode. I enjoyed it). I'm just so glad that there's a casual friendly way to play Yugioh after seeing what the TCG has become... I swear when I hear "If you're not playing the meta deck of the month, you're playing a deck designed to stop the meta deck of the month" that'd turn anyone off. But I don't play to win, I just play to have fun and try cool strategies with my favorite card....artwork. Hehe I'm a simp for so many of the cool looking dragon and dino cards.
Another big reason malevolent sin was so good in duel links was only having 4000 life points. That gave it insane OTK potential, removing your opponents only monster and swinging for game alongside any other monster with 1600+ atk
Odd-eyes Raging Dragon is one of my two really good decks right now, not as good as my Live Twins deck (i think) but still the fact that they made a competitive deck partially free during the follow-up to worlds earlier this year is still wild to me
Say what you want. Nobody expects anguish. And if your deck is full of trap monsters you can pop off every card your opponent plays, then summon Uris on your turn for big damage. So it’s sorta decent in casual games.
Also dont forget in Duel Links Weevil apparently also got basically murdered by Celina when he apparently tried to hse his Parasite card against her which triggered her a little
0:36 I love how Gate Guardian is probably here only because of its skill.... a skill that doesn't ever require you to actually summon it or encourages you to summon it. Unlike others like say "D/D/D Doom King Armageddon" 8:35 Paradox now really lives up to his name 21:55 three musketeers' lore?!
Ive been subscribed to you since 2019 and I gotta say I love your content. It’s been cool/inspirational to see you grow as a creator. I like what you’re doing with the scripts now too. Keep it up brother I see you 🔥
I used to use that Gateguardian skill any time the game required me to duel other players. Either I won quickly or lost quickly, either way it was done.
Not gonna lie - I really appreciate these little nerdy interludes in your latest videos! Talking about the anime, lore, etc. really gives the rankings more flavour. While it's also nice to just hear your top 10 without the fluff, I reckon a more in-depth, lore-y list from time to time could be a really great staple of the channel!
Yeah it's really charming and shows DuelLogs is aware that fans of Yugioh aren't just here for the meta. they also love the lore, anime, card art, and sometimes just playing for fun, playground style. It always warms my heart when he says "It's such a shame this card isn't good because the art is SO CUTE!" and I'm like "I agree I don't care if it's bad, I'll MAKE THAT CARD WORK IN MY DECK!" and even occasionally offers tips on HOW to make the most of an otherwise bad card by hinting at other cards that can help it out, even if a bit slower.
28:54 Hang on: unless Duel Links plays by different rules than the OCG, the TCG, and Master Duel, discard costs don't care where they end up. They can be paid under Macrocosm. This is the second relatively grave mistake in this video, after misreading Endless Trap -Hole- Hell and even insisting on the misread to the point where it's pointed out as a difference to Show of Nightmares (25:20). In actuality, both these skills work exactly the same way.
Also poor Red-Eyes Slash Dragon, wrong box debut (Resonance of Contrast, not Blade of Spirits) and structure deck wasn't named, (X and not Return of the Res-Eyes.)
Big Ben is the bell inside the clock tower, which is attached to the House of Parliment, and thus doesn't contain a Prison. You are thinking of the Tower of London, the infamous Prison & execution yard as well as a Royal Apartment in the Middle Ages & Tudor era.
Some video ideas: archetypes doing better in Duel Links than in the TCG/OCG. Potential archetype monster/spell/trap cards that would break Duel Links by making tier zero decks. As there are some archetypes that are missing cards like Fluffals, I don't know if it only applies to boss monsters or if there are archetypes are missing tech cards that are monster cards. Also thanks for doing these videos on Duel Links whether it was due to my suggestion or not.
*listens to the rank 8 description* Oh hey, that must be Levia-Dragon Daedalus, my friend plays that Umi deck all the time! TheDuelLogs: “And if you recognized that, don’t forget to stretch before bed to minimize joint pain as you get older.” Me: 😱 C’mon man, I was just a kid when this stuff came out don’t destroy me like this!!! lol
No. 1 pick reminds me of 2019-20 era where wevil deck was annoying that it was infamously known as WEVIL CANCER deck for using skill combo with lava golem and amazoness swords woman
Straight Flush I don't know how its the Meta now as I stopped playing when they took out Pendulum in Duel Link but Straight Flush was a solid choice in my deck as in Duel Links with only 3 slots for Trap-Spell Cards was very easy to fulfill the activation prerequis (as pposed to tcg) her and without Main Phase 2 the opponent couldn't put new cards after the Battle Phase
A correction, Dread master can be special summoned and normal summoned by any means. And can use all of his effects except "special summon 2 destiny heroes".
I heard that the aromages were really powerful in DL because they could recover more LP than the damage you could do, making them virtually unbeatable by battle
Aromages were something that I mained for the longest - LP gain was on point, fairly flexible gameplay with monster, spell, and trap effects, could get decent syncros out. Problem is they got outpaced like a lot of archetypes in DL over time.
As an insect deck user I apologize for parasite infestation shenanigans lmao back when it was unrestricted I would play it alot and somehow always managed to add 3 parasites in people deck. Heck when salamangreat first released I managed to take on them with the skill as it turns opponents monsters into insects and that locked out opponents from their salamangreat extra deck cards. 😅 and somehow managed to beat a stardust deck 😅 with the same deck
Statue of Anguish pattern becomes abuseable if you pair it with cyber shadow Gardna. Also Anguish is a good tribute fodder for Odd eyes advanced dragon. Red eyes slash and other red eyes fusion monsters are bot staples in casual duels
Anguish also finds a home in Trap Monster Subterrors, making its popping effect very deadly. 2 card pops in addition to Nemesis Warrior being able to use a Trap Monster to summon Umastryx while also clearing the field a little for another Trap Monster to summon
I don't wanna lean into the hater energy too hard because I really enjoy your videos and I really enjoy when the general YGO community gets exposed to Duel Links but the scriptwriter hid a couple oddities in this one that kinda got me out of the flow a little bit. From more niche things like how Malefics were already a rogue strategy back when they released and the character was nowhere to be seen cause the best deck at the time (Star Seraph Darklords) really struggled to clear as many big monsters as Malefics was able to put out. To glaringly obvious inaccuracies like the fact that Hang on Mach doesn't prevent Raigeki Break or Karma Cut from discarding for cost so Hang on Mach players at the time had to run Forbidden Lance to deal with those. The niche Duel Links stuff is whatever, I mean it's not particularly well documented so if you weren't there it's a lot of hearsay. But it would be nice if somewhere in the video making process stuff like "Macro prevents you from discarding" got caught the next time around. Thank you very much.
I built a Gate Guardian Combined deck to use against my friends (we pretty much only do vanilla and Link summons) and absolutely adore it. Gate Guardian has been one of my favorite monsters from the moment I saw it in the anime. I was so glad it got a redemption arc in the modern era.
Man, these new type of Top 10s with added humor and info are fantastic. You could have just slapped 10 cards in the video but you did an amazing job here!!
Crazy to me, someone who left before synchro was a thing and came back after link summoning, that decks I used in duel links that were OP are pretty useless for regular formats
Slash absolutely can be good outside of duel links but it's more so just MD. Slash control exists with either INK or adventure combo lines where you just have to use verte to make it at the end. Adventure pairs nice since that's atleast a guaranteed 2 target protection and a negate for the weakest board
With Tea 1st variant of starting the duel with 5 cards skill, i was using that skill with Levia dragon going into Ocean Lord for a massive nuke. Was really fun to play it back in the day.
On endless trap hell, the skill got nerfed and doesnt shuffle all traps anymore, and you have to return 1 card from the hand to deck. On f.a hang on mach, you said it came in the harpies box with slash and malevolent sin, which is kinda wrong, sin came in a different box.
Statue of Anguish Pattern is a staple in my U.A. deck on Duel Links (and will continue to be until we get the rest of the U.A. cards released, like Libero Spiker and Player Manager, to make the deck actually viable), as it not only gives a worthy defence with no cost other than the time it takes to go between turns, having two on the field at the same time means if the opponent tries to gank one of them, I can activate both (chaining to each other) and bomb one of their cards while still getting said defence Trap monsters aren’t great to use, but are great for easy Xyz/synchro summoning, as well as tributes when it comes to the likes of U.A. decks where the majority of monsters are lv5 or higher.
Another thing in favor for Gate Guardian is that the Elements Unite Skill allows for some of the most consistent farming decks against some LV 40 duelists......... though the Labyrinth Builder skill (also used by the Paradox Brothers.... though as a duel reward drop) is just as consistent and can handle more duelists.
Lab builder was probably the best farm skill until yubel was released, i used para & dox to farm yuga since his clear wing could easily Deal with terrorincarnate
statue of anguish pattern always made me want to use my highest attack monster to attack first, so switching to regular yugioh was weird when everyone was telling me that they attack with their lowest attack first because of gorz, but all i could think of is "what if they flip anguish pattern"
I got Gorzed only once and it was scarring enough to make me always attack with the lowest ATK monster first. Now I don't play anymore, but for the time Gorz was daunting
Damn it. I literally listen to this while doing yoga before bed. And my playground deck was based on Levia. I feel very targeted, and request you remove the hidden cameras.
The gate guardian skill can also Cheat the Link boss monster *"World Gears of Theurlogical Demiurgy"* that requires 3 5 lvl or more monsters in turn 1. That can blow opponent field and summon world chalice (to sent a monster summoned from extra deck).
Hey DuelLogs, long time subscriber love watching your videos. You should do a 3 part series 'The top 10 Strongest cards of all time". The top 10 Monster/Spells/traps.
0:35 You know, we just got a suite of updates for the “Gate Guardian” archetype, but what we _didn’t_ get were retrains for 3 component monsters themselves I believe… Allow me to try making some retrains for "Sanga of the Thunder", "Kazejin", and "Suijin": _Kazejin, Guardian of the WIND_ (WIND) Level 7 Pendulum Scales: 8⬅️➡️6 _WIND monsters can be normal summoned/set using 1 less tribute. If your Normal, Flip or Pendulum summon a WIND monster(s), you can special summon this card from your pendulum zone. Once per turn, during damage calculation, if a WIND monster you control is being attacked (Quick Effect): You can target the attacking monster; make that target's ATK or DEF 0 during damage calculation only._ Spellcaster/Pendulum/Effect _While face-up on the field or in the GY, this card’s name is treated as “Kazejin”. You can normal summon this monster without tributes while you control a face-up "Sanga of the Thunder", "Suijin", or “Guardian” monster. Any monster(s) this card battles have their ATK and DEF decreased by this card’s original ATK and DEF until the end of the turn. If this card inflicts battle damage to your opponent, you can apply 1 of the following effects:_ ⚪️Add 1 card you possess to your hand that mentions “"Sanga of the Thunder", "Kazejin", or "Suijin" in it’s name or effects. ⚪️Shuffle 1 card on the field into its owners deck. ATK/2400 DEF/2200 _Suijin, Guardian of the WATER_ (WATER) Level 7 Pendulum Scales: 8⬅️➡️6 _WATER monsters can be normal summoned/set using 1 less tribute. If your Normal, Flip or Pendulum summon a WATER monster(s), you can special summon this card from your pendulum zone. Once per turn, during damage calculation, if a WATER monster you control is being attacked (Quick Effect): You can target the attacking monster; make that target's ATK or DEF 0 during damage calculation only._ Aqua/Pendulum/Effect _While face-up on the field or in the GY, this card’s name is treated as “Suijin”. You can normal summon this monster without tributes while you control a face-up "Sanga of the Thunder", "Kazejin", or “Guardian” monster. ⚪️Return 1 card on the field into its owners hand. ATK/2500 DEF/2400 _Sanga, Guardian of the LIGHT_ (LIGHT) Level 7 Pendulum Scales: 8⬅️➡️6 _LIGHT monsters can be normal summoned/set using 1 less tribute. If you Normal, Flip or Pendulum summon a LIGHT monster(s), you can special summon this card from your pendulum zone. Once per turn, during damage calculation, if a LIGHT monster you control is being attacked (Quick Effect): You can target the attacking monster; make that target's ATK or DEF 0 during damage calculation only._ Thunder/Pendulum/Effect _While face-up on the field or in the GY, this card’s name is treated as “Sanga of the Thunder”. You can normal summon this monster without tributes while you control a face-up "Suijin", "Kazejin", or “Guardian” monster. ⚪️Destroy 1 card on the field. ATK/2600 DEF/2200
Statue of anguish pattern is my favorite card because it can be combined with the tiki trap monsters, cyber shadow gardna and zoma (and almost nobody runs jinzo). And usually the opponent doesn't read the cards before attacking and they rage quit not knowing what just happened under their eyes. So, if they attack my statue, tiki soul saves it (setting it facedown) and tiki curse destroys the attacking monster. Or if they attack the cyber shadow gardna, it's mutual destruction. And the XYZ / link summon possibilities are good in a good trap monster deck. The only thing is jinzo and some weird negate effects. And trap monster decks are really slow, giving the chance to chip life points without doing too much. Yubel decks are annoying too: 1) the first form is never there to stay, so nobody cares 2) the second form has to be destroyed before it wipes the field 3) you have to be ready to destroy the third form as quickly as possible before you take damage from its attacks
There's V Salamander too which is broken in Duel Links because of a skill. Black Soldier Vanilla also is insanely good because it has a skill that gives it an effect. RN Yubel is also very strong. There was Invoked Coccytus also. Also, Meklord was Tier 1 at one point - it was a turbo Rank4 deck. Still not terrible today. DDD Doom King Armageddon is a 3 of in DDD decks in Duel Links because the skill gives it another effect that makes it really good There is Knightmare Mermaid too, the most broken card I've ever seen in this game,it was so unbalanced they had to ban the card straight. The Limit1 restriction wasn't enough, it's so rare. It abused the Gata Guardian Paradox brothers skill
Elements Unite gste guardian skill still sees play today to easily summon world gears of thaumaturgical dutorogy. Also when orcust first released in duelinks, mermaid was legal so elements unite became a niche skill to run orcust combos
Silent magician does have a skill to make it easy to summon her but people only uses it in other decks. The gandora skill can turn any gadget into a spellcaster or a warrior.
@ducklett01god oh I know haha I use the tiki trap cards too which one destroys an opponents monster and the other I think sends a card from the hand to the grave so i end up doing quite a bit with them and even if they destroy my traps I then have uria also
My man, what the hell happened this video, there's a ton of flat out incorrect info here. Karma Cut and Raigeki Break work just fine under Macro, Dreadmaster has absolutely zero summoning restrictions, and you're reading the old version of Endless Trap Hell despite displaying it's current version in the video. There's just a lot of weird stuff in this video and it feels really rushed.
Call me crazy, but Duel Links is one of my favorite formats because of the card pool, ease of use, skills, and game speed. Every video showing this format some love is welcome to me. Great video!

still confuses me why gate guardian was never changed into a fusion monster.
You know that would actually make sense
It is. Released in maze of memories
Also valkyrion the magna warrior
Cause it would have made too much sense. At least we have the restrains
Maze of memories: Am I a joke to you?
I remember when Red Eyes was the best deck in the game because Slash Dragon was basically immortal, good times...
And red eyes fusion was just really powerful
It was never tier 0 though
Red Eyes was my best deck for the longest time, I once won a duel because the opponent's Shi En negated the continuous trap while attacking for game, thereby activating its graveyard effect.
It never was the best deck and more of a casual player gatekeeper. It had very little success in tournaments even at the hight of its playability. In many ways however it separated bad players from better ones/p2w players, since they either had the resources or skill to deal with it

32:17 / Correction: Turning monsters into insects was very important in the tier zero Six Samurai format since Shi En required a warrior tuner and it was the most common deck used to counter Six Sam since it also turned off Dual Wield.
i love how Duel Logs has evolved over time to include analogies, lore and jokes in his explanations
Came here to say this. A got surprised by a free orcust players on the KC cup and I lost even when I had an extremely good starting hand.
I once dueled someone in pvp who used the gate guardian skill & I beat them with gear golem the moving fortress. Just shows how flawed a skill like that can be.
And now Elements Unite is being used to get instant access to World Gears of Theolurgical Deimurgy
Gate Guardian recently got new support.
No such thing as 'toxic' in Yugioh.
21:51 Alexandre Dumas was French, not Spanish.
Probably made the sceipt with an Ai 😂😂😂 theres a bunch of mistakes in here, still fun to watch
Even after all the power creep and all the insane Backrow/Extra Deck monster Duel Links have gotten since it was first introduced, Malevolent Sin is still one of the most used Extra Deck monster in the game.
The script for this video is next level!! Seriously! So much wit and sass! In a sea of great videos this one stands out.
I had no idea that Malevolent Sin was trash in the card game
By reading his effect in DL, i thought he was good in both versions
I've been getting into YGO through DL because building an IRL deck or finding other people to play with is pretty much impossible, loving these videos so far
Yea it was too slow and certain card benefits for being banish plus it targets. DL help it shine but even still it rank up is still slow to rank it to it higher form
It just came too late in the TCG to be good, with Castel and Silent Honor already being released by that time
Duel LInks is kind of different metawise as it still kind of plays to the old format style where it's less about big combos to prevent your opponent from playing the game and still more about outclassing your opponent with attack power.
It's not trash per se, but just too late and during that time, TCG already has a better card(s).
5:23 I feel attacked. Someone fetch me my cane, I need to wave it angrily at this guy.
The drool and Locke bird at the beginning makes me wonder if you could do a list of top ten cards good in the tcg but not duel links
Sweet , man
Duel LInks got me back into the game too (after binge watching all of Zexal...EVERY episode.
5:25 how could you attack me like this
Bro I had to pause & say 😂😂😂😅
13:04 I like the way you said it
"That's cooking"
On point and crisp to the ear
For that, I can ignore the mispell
Another big reason malevolent sin was so good in duel links was only having 4000 life points. That gave it insane OTK potential, removing your opponents only monster and swinging for game alongside any other monster with 1600+ atk
I wanna be mad at you for 5:24-5:30 but that's honestly helpful. Thanks for the tip.
Can we just appreciate that “It wAs gOoD IN duEL LiNkS” has become basically a meme and this video happened.
Odd-eyes Raging Dragon is one of my two really good decks right now, not as good as my Live Twins deck (i think) but still the fact that they made a competitive deck partially free during the follow-up to worlds earlier this year is still wild to me
Thank you for taking time for the lore.
Unlike others like say "D/D/D Doom King Armageddon"
8:35 Paradox now really lives up to his name 21:55 three musketeers' lore?!
Ive been subscribed to you since 2019 and I gotta say I love your content. It’s been cool/inspirational to see you grow as a creator. I like what you’re doing with the scripts now too. Keep it up brother I see you 🔥
bruh, that Daedalus-callout felt far too personal :(
I used to use that Gateguardian skill any time the game required me to duel other players.
Yeah I think this video has some mispronounced words too and other mistakes, possible case of rushed video😅
@@elvenatheart982 True, he consistently said Statue Anguish of Pattern instead of Statue of Anguish Pattern.
🤓
Some video ideas: archetypes doing better in Duel Links than in the TCG/OCG. Potential archetype monster/spell/trap cards that would break Duel Links by making tier zero decks. As there are some archetypes that are missing cards like Fluffals, I don't know if it only applies to boss monsters or if there are archetypes are missing tech cards that are monster cards. Also thanks for doing these videos on Duel Links whether it was due to my suggestion or not.
*listens to the rank 8 description*
Oh hey, that must be Levia-Dragon Daedalus, my friend plays that Umi deck all the time!
TheDuelLogs: “And if you recognized that, don’t forget to stretch before bed to minimize joint pain as you get older.”
Me: 😱 C’mon man, I was just a kid when this stuff came out don’t destroy me like this!!! lol
Gods i had the same thought
No. 1 pick reminds me of 2019-20 era where wevil deck was annoying that it was infamously known as WEVIL CANCER deck for using skill combo with lava golem and amazoness swords woman
Straight Flush
I don't know how its the Meta now as I stopped playing when they took out Pendulum in Duel Link but Straight Flush was a solid choice in my deck as in Duel Links with only 3 slots for Trap-Spell Cards was very easy to fulfill the activation prerequis (as pposed to tcg) her and without Main Phase 2 the opponent couldn't put new cards after the Battle Phase
Malevolent Sin also had a brief moment in the spotlight in Master Duel during the N/R festival
Also seen a few in terrible event, the "tri-brigade" type festival
A correction, Dread master can be special summoned and normal summoned by any means. And can use all of his effects except "special summon 2 destiny heroes".
I was gonna say this as well lol
I enjoy this new age of sassy Duel Logs scripts.
Jade insect spell with lava golem Amazon swordswoman like 6 years old weevil strategy good times when duel links was fun
Did you made a video about good cards in the TCG that bad in DL?
Hearing Mr. Logs say "It's a serioud meddl name" was the greatest thing ever
U.A. and F.A. deserve more love, it's such a cool pair of decks.
Are there any cards that are good in the TCG/OCG but are trash in Duel Links?
*Odion*
*Odin*
I'm fine with this change
It's me! I'm the Levia Dragon - Daedalus fan back when I was a kid! I love the SD when my parents bought me and have so much fun with that
I heard that the aromages were really powerful in DL because they could recover more LP than the damage you could do, making them virtually unbeatable by battle
Aromages were something that I mained for the longest - LP gain was on point, fairly flexible gameplay with monster, spell, and trap effects, could get decent syncros out. Problem is they got outpaced like a lot of archetypes in DL over time.
not that hard to beat, i dont think they ever topped a kc cup, but annoying nonetheless
The transition to the clock tower poem was sick
I love #70 and 77. I used to run it with my dark magicians because I had many 4s
Two anguishes and a gardna is a good time
I don't wanna lean into the hater energy too hard because I really enjoy your videos and I really enjoy when the general YGO community gets exposed to Duel Links but the scriptwriter hid a couple oddities in this one that kinda got me out of the flow a little bit.
21:52 Dumas was French, not Spanish
Honorable mention to “The Legendary Exodia Incarnate” beatdown strategy because players miss the “Unaffected by other cards’ effects,” part.
13:06 DuelLogs I love you and your channel so much but im not gonna let “Odin” slide. Odion!!!!!😭😂
Also, statue anguish of pattern
When did dual logs get so sassy
Slash absolutely can be good outside of duel links but it's more so just MD. Slash control exists with either INK or adventure combo lines where you just have to use verte to make it at the end. Adventure pairs nice since that's atleast a guaranteed 2 target protection and a negate for the weakest board
Get ready for all of those "but in duel links" memes
With Tea 1st variant of starting the duel with 5 cards skill, i was using that skill with Levia dragon going into Ocean Lord for a massive nuke. Was really fun to play it back in the day.
Gate Guardian made people surrender right away when I summoned it
Melefic Territory actually counters Clock of Destiny since it prevents all field spells from targeted destruction, not just Malefic World.
Silent magician is still competitively viable in dark magician decks because of the spell negate
I hope know I literally was stretching before bed when you said that joke during levia dragon...I started playing in 2002 lol
5:23 Okay man that was uncalled for.
On endless trap hell, the skill got nerfed and doesnt shuffle all traps anymore, and you have to return 1 card from the hand to deck.
On f.a hang on mach, you said it came in the harpies box with slash and malevolent sin, which is kinda wrong, sin came in a different box.
Statue of Anguish Pattern is a staple in my U.A. deck on Duel Links (and will continue to be until we get the rest of the U.A. cards released, like Libero Spiker and Player Manager, to make the deck actually viable), as it not only gives a worthy defence with no cost other than the time it takes to go between turns, having two on the field at the same time means if the opponent tries to gank one of them, I can activate both (chaining to each other) and bomb one of their cards while still getting said defence
Trap monsters aren’t great to use, but are great for easy Xyz/synchro summoning, as well as tributes when it comes to the likes of U.A. decks where the majority of monsters are lv5 or higher.
Very fun analysis video! Thanks so much for uploading!
Looking forward to more like this from you!
21:22 Oh no, not through some confusing Yu-Gi-Oh! shenanigans... that indeed is very tragic. xD
I used to use silent magician with magician girls, and that fusion spellcaster in the K.C cup
Levia Dragon mentioned? Holy carp. That there's the monster+brick that I go out of my way to play just because I like the card.
Damn it. I literally listen to this while doing yoga before bed. And my playground deck was based on Levia. I feel very targeted, and request you remove the hidden cameras.
His name is not Odin.
His name is Odion, aka Rishid.
How fitting that I got a Duel Links ad in this video
alternate title, top ten cards that were slept on until they came to duel links.
Levia was a good finisher in lots of the handheld games. Full board wipes that leave you with a finisher are rare.
Yo, I get on and I'm greeted with a fresh duel logs video, that's just great
The gate guardian skill can also Cheat the Link boss monster *"World Gears of Theurlogical Demiurgy"* that requires 3 5 lvl or more monsters in turn 1.
That can blow opponent field and summon world chalice (to sent a monster summoned from extra deck).
Hey DuelLogs, long time subscriber love watching your videos. You should do a 3 part series 'The top 10 Strongest cards of all time". The top 10 Monster/Spells/traps.
0:35 You know, we just got a suite of updates for the “Gate Guardian” archetype, but what we _didn’t_ get were retrains for 3 component monsters themselves I believe… Allow me to try making some retrains for "Sanga of the Thunder", "Kazejin", and "Suijin":
_Kazejin, Guardian of the WIND_ (WIND)
Level 7
Pendulum Scales: 8⬅️➡️6
_WIND monsters can be normal summoned/set using 1 less tribute. If your Normal, Flip or Pendulum summon a WIND monster(s), you can special summon this card from your pendulum zone. Once per turn, during damage calculation, if a WIND monster you control is being attacked (Quick Effect): You can target the attacking monster; make that target's ATK or DEF 0 during damage calculation only._
Spellcaster/Pendulum/Effect
_While face-up on the field or in the GY, this card’s name is treated as “Kazejin”. You can normal summon this monster without tributes while you control a face-up "Sanga of the Thunder", "Suijin", or “Guardian” monster. Any monster(s) this card battles have their ATK and DEF decreased by this card’s original ATK and DEF until the end of the turn. If this card inflicts battle damage to your opponent, you can apply 1 of the following effects:_
⚪️Add 1 card you possess to your hand that mentions “"Sanga of the Thunder", "Kazejin", or "Suijin" in it’s name or effects.
⚪️Shuffle 1 card on the field into its owners deck.
ATK/2400 DEF/2200
_Suijin, Guardian of the WATER_ (WATER)
Level 7
Pendulum Scales: 8⬅️➡️6
_WATER monsters can be normal summoned/set using 1 less tribute. If your Normal, Flip or Pendulum summon a WATER monster(s), you can special summon this card from your pendulum zone. Once per turn, during damage calculation, if a WATER monster you control is being attacked (Quick Effect): You can target the attacking monster; make that target's ATK or DEF 0 during damage calculation only._
Aqua/Pendulum/Effect
_While face-up on the field or in the GY, this card’s name is treated as “Suijin”. You can normal summon this monster without tributes while you control a face-up "Sanga of the Thunder", "Kazejin", or “Guardian” monster.
⚪️Return 1 card on the field into its owners hand.
ATK/2500 DEF/2400
_Sanga, Guardian of the LIGHT_ (LIGHT)
Level 7
Pendulum Scales: 8⬅️➡️6
_LIGHT monsters can be normal summoned/set using 1 less tribute. If you Normal, Flip or Pendulum summon a LIGHT monster(s), you can special summon this card from your pendulum zone. Once per turn, during damage calculation, if a LIGHT monster you control is being attacked (Quick Effect): You can target the attacking monster; make that target's ATK or DEF 0 during damage calculation only._
Thunder/Pendulum/Effect
_While face-up on the field or in the GY, this card’s name is treated as “Sanga of the Thunder”. You can normal summon this monster without tributes while you control a face-up "Suijin", "Kazejin", or “Guardian” monster.
Yubel decks are annoying too:
1) the first form is never there to stay, so nobody cares
2) the second form has to be destroyed before it wipes the field
3) you have to be ready to destroy the third form as quickly as possible before you take damage from its attacks
DDD Doom King Armageddon is a 3 of in DDD decks in Duel Links because the skill gives it another effect that makes it really good
There is Knightmare Mermaid too, the most broken card I've ever seen in this game,it was so unbalanced they had to ban the card straight. The Limit1 restriction wasn't enough, it's so rare. It abused the Gata Guardian Paradox brothers skill
Man that water structure takes me back. I had the fire one and my brother had the water one also Eff you about the stretching 😂
Elements Unite gste guardian skill still sees play today to easily summon world gears of thaumaturgical dutorogy. Also when orcust first released in duelinks, mermaid was legal so elements unite became a niche skill to run orcust combos
Ah yes the hang on mach meta 💀💀💀
I remember Fury from the Deep. It came out when I was 9. Didn't realize 27 was old now 😂
Nuber 70 + 77 Giant Spiders 4:20 😱😱
Silent magician does have a skill to make it easy to summon her but people only uses it in other decks. The gandora skill can turn any gadget into a spellcaster or a warrior.
oh daedalus, sends me way back to duel link launch
What I love about this is I use the trap card statue of anguish pattern in my odion/uria deck
Infinite trap hell plays are crazy
@ducklett01god I pretty much run continuous monster traps and uria haha and some like skull invitation
@@RizPlaysYTgaming skull invitation plays are crazy for how they make your opponent lose cards so easily
I remember when he said the link one super heavy samurai was trash kek
Slash Dragon does have cool effects. But it'll never be as cool to look at as a Blue Eyes White Dragon.
