Alright guys we've got good news and bad news. The good news is Monstercat reached out to me and generously provided me a creative license to post videos with their music! This is huge as I've been a fan of their label for over half a decade and am incredibly excited to be working with them. The bad news is the studio is still not done. We tested some footage and it was terribly lit, so we ordered more lights and they should be arriving at the end of the week. That means this will (hopefully) be the last video I upload with opaque walls, and everything moving forward should be even nicer to watch. Hope you guys enjoy this one, and expect a lot more Monstercat coming in the near future!
Legends tell us of a hero whose swords were deadly and whose stature was noble. His strikes were strong and fast, leaving behind shimmering trails as they cut their target. They called him _Beat Saber Samurai_
Your version of overkill has got to be my favourite map bar none within the custom songs library. I usually play it for fun every now and then as a break from other levels! I actually did a vid on the level with faster song and disappearing arrows and it was an absolute blast to dance to whilst playing lmfao
Finally got my new PC build complete, Vive setup, deluxe audio, and fake leather face pad, (thanks for the tip!) Monday night. Was pretty late, but decided to hop into Beat Saber for a few minutes to test things out. Next thing I knew it was 3 hours later and I was completely soaked with sweat. Hahaha.
Check out vive face pad replacements on Amazon, pretty much anything is better than that gross foam default. I personally went with the thin fake leather ones that increase fov. They're just thin so you can get closer to the lenses, but they have comfy think ones as well.
Remy I can see that being helpful for sure. Have you looked into the GearVR lens replacement? Gets rid of all the glare and god rays. Makes whole FOV a sweet spot. Everyone that does it loves it. Only drawback is a tiny reduction in FOV. I'll let you know how it goes when I get it done!
Nice job beating the song! Nuketime is really good at charting songs. Another good mapper, is Hexagonial. You should check out his songs, they are really good.
Thanks man! I think we had a lamp placed behind me and another to the side. It's going to be interesting attempting to recreate this effect, cus I do like how I pop in these videos compared to the test footage I shot more recently.
Dude ! Just get this game and I can ruffly do song on normal. I was a beast at guitar hero but i work a lot to be good. But this game is something else. I have a ruff time seeing the square before they are close to my face. Do you have any hint so I can get better (some kind of movement or things I should know, just like hammer-on on guitar hero exemple)
Try incorporating your wrists a little more. You still want a big swing to get the 110 points per note, but wrist movement will allow you to play longer and get larger swings without getting tired. You can also focus on reading the notes as far in the distance as possible. Playing no arrows is a good method to practice this. The main thing is you continue to enjoy playing! You'll progress naturally by putting in the hours
I just can't get this song under 120 missed notes. My asthma just kicks in after 4th or 5th try xD Also, are these controllers lighter than the stock ones? Or is this Oculus?
Awesome job on the level! Having that license must be very exciting. It’s hilarious that it’s even possible to still get an A with 50 misses give or take lol. And do you play on steam?

The reason I ask is I'd like to become more physically active... I just hate everything about training for it- except for beat saber (and other games I don't play much like DDR). Due to the fact that it's a "game", I'm positive I can create (and already have) a daily routine with it of highly active songs like these, even if I'm not good enough to hit the notes well yet.

Honey makes a good point! I was 260 pounds at 19 so I came from the opposite approach, but nothing helped me more than weight lifting and eating healthy consistently. I may have gone overboard with the salads, but I ended up losing a healthy amount of fat without doing any cardio at all. I'm now around 190 and playing this game is the closest thing I've found to cardio that I enjoy, but there are lots of great options in VR like Sprint Vector. I started BeatSaber in Aug at 26 years old and 5'11" 121lbs.... I'm 27, 138lbs, currently just broke 150hrs played in BeatSaber and just passed this song (after failing a dozen or more times), and VR is my only workout... Any tips for getting better at hitting patterns like the pattern at 1:40? I can seem to figure out how to hit those patterns on any song really. I appreciate any help from anyone :)
Repetition. While i cant do that pattern, i just got top 100 rank on KDA popstars expert + and while that doesnt make these insane maps easy, it does make the normal hard maps super boring.
It all comes down to playing a lot of songs with different note placements and varying beats per minute. After a while, you end up getting better reading the notes at high speeds.
One way you can improve your speed is not hitting based on the direction of the arrows, but hitting the discolored area. This helped me react a lot faster because I basically don’t need to process any info/even look at the cubes, can just use preferably vision
How does a normal jerkoff like me get them????? OMG I love the Vive and this game but I cant play at this speed because I have trouble holding on to the controllers.......
Just go for them if you can. It seems intimidating and hard to play but they are really fun to to do once you are able to beat them. Just slowly make your way up to that point by playing a lot and go for harder songs step by step. Eventually you will gain the skills and capacity to tackle those high ranked songs.
I feel that, it takes practice to get used to them. I found trying to use my wrists more helped my endurance. Also pretending like the track is easy can surprisingly do wonders, not panicking is huge
Sorry it took me so long to reply, but in that time I managed to find a obseredly difficult song that's probably copyrighted. The song is called Speedom, but it's by tech9 so the video might be copyrighted so I don't mind if you don't do the level/song.
Oh I've practiced Speedom a ton! I personally prefer Eminem's Lucky You, but that is a fun one. I might post copyrighted music and take the hit anyway, we'll see
Also Joyner is famous for a more impressive verse to say the least, and the verse is 2:40 second mark (2:30 depending on the video) on siracha. Just wanted to tell you about this because that verse and jumaji are the first thinks that come to mind when Joyner Lucas is mentioned.

How did this guy get the valve knuckles? :|
I'm a developer and requested them through steam
Sorry it took me so long to reply, but in that time I managed to find a obseredly difficult song that's probably copyrighted. The song is called Speedom, but it's by tech9 so the video might be copyrighted so I don't mind if you don't do the level/song.
Oh I've practiced Speedom a ton! I personally prefer Eminem's Lucky You, but that is a fun one. I might post copyrighted music and take the hit anyway, we'll see
The second sentece sounds familiar, I agree with your opinion on lucky you, and there isn't really not much I can say about getting copyright claimed.
Also Joyner is famous for a more impressive verse to say the least, and the verse is 2:40 second mark (2:30 depending on the video) on siracha. Just wanted to tell you about this because that verse and jumaji are the first thinks that come to mind when Joyner Lucas is mentioned.
Yo are those the knuckles??? That's pretty shwanky.
They are, and they are ;)
Remy nice nice. I’m only incredibly jealous
