Of course. Again, it really depends on what you want to achieve. Small goals / no goals / no-big-deal if they are not achieved? A cheap instrument will probably be enough. Big goals? That's another story. I hope that makes sense.
Hi Dmitry! how are you? I am from Brasil. few days ago I received a video which showed a man playing and selling a " compact violoncello " I found it very interesting and commented with a friend who told me that this instrument already existed in the past , called " viola da spalla " So I started researching the history of this instrument and found your article "The Violoncello, Viola da Spalla and Viola Pomposa in Theory and Practice". Also read other sources, however, every time I read , the story looks more confused. Your article was what I found most complete , however, did not get a concrete answer . I wonder if you can answer me . After all , viola da spalla , violoncello piccolo and viola pomposa was the same instruments ?. And because the viola da spalla disappeared over time? I'll be very grateful if you answer me , if not , I will understand in the same way grateful
+Dmitry Badiarov thank you for the answer, now i understood! The question that motivated me to search about the history is because in the video selling the "compact violoncello" the man told that "compact violoncello" has the same function and sound that a normal violoncello. how? if once this instruments desappeared? but now i understood and found my answer. thank you!
Beautiful instrument and gorgeous playing !
Very interesting and fascinating.Thanks Dmitry!
wondering if I can transform a 1/8 cello into this.
