What a beautiful innings from Ben Hollioake. He really did take the world class Aussie bowlers to the cleaners that day. Such a shame what happened to him, he probably would've gone on to play 100 Tests for England such was his talent. RIP Ben.
Dismissals like Mike Atherton’s is why DRS was introduced. It was originally introduced to eradicate the clear and obvious errors by the umpire. Unfortunately it’s now gone the other way and is used for almost every dismissal. Certainly virtually every LBW appeal and decision by the umpire. A lot of catches and stumpings as well.
We won the ODI series 3-0. Then the first test. After that is was all downhill until the last test match in the Ashes series, the 6th test. The last ever 6 test Ashes series.
Paul - thank you very much for these vintage videos. Can u please please please upload Pakistan vs England 3rd ODI at Nottingham 1996.??? I m desperately after that game plus i have 2 lancashire games from 1993.
These are the two matches i have : 1 - Benson & Hedges Cup, Surrey v Lancashire Kennington Oval, London 1993 2 - Benson & Hedges Cup, Leicestershire v Lancashire Grace Road, Leicester 1993 (2nd Semi Final)
myjkyz87a how long are these matches you have? My email is paulrparker1978@gmail.com it would be easier to talk on there. I have some coverage of the match you want but not long highlights. I may know someone that does have it though.
@Myjkyz87a Hey, can you upload any Test/ODI reviews from the CricInfo VHS magazine series, " *Cover Point* "? static.espncricinfo.com/db/MEDIA/coverpoint/ By the way, what does " _Myjkyz87a_ " even mean anyway?
When you look at this Australia squad they had Justin Langer and Adam Gilchrist in this ODI but not playing in any of the subsequent tests - they had a lot of strength compared with England
@@user-nk2wl7es5z not as good as back then. As good as Starc, Cummins Hazlewood and Lyon are, they aren’t as good as Warne, McGrath, Gillespie were at this point. With Lee added a bit later on. Warne and McGrath are 2 of the best bowlers that’s ever played cricket. The current bowling attack for Australia is very good, no doubt about that though.
The match that Ben Holioake lit up on his debut. A sad case of what might have been … he never quite fulfilled his potential. And then a sad end speeding on a slippy surface, according to the Australian police statement at the time. The Spokesman said that it was towards the end of summer and that there was oil on the road, the weather being hot and dry so that it couldn’t get washed away. Here at least, he was king for a day, with a thrilling shot a ball innings, containing 11 fours and a six out of a personal score of 61 - the vast majority of his runs coming in boundaries.
We used to play one day games that were 55 overs a side until the late 1980's or very early 1990's as well. In fact I think the one day game started off as 60 overs a side in the 1970's.
Great uploading mark wagh very good stylish batsman

The Aussies were 40 or 50 or so short, and, as usual, didnt bat through. Double your score after 30 gives the Aussies 342! England about the same.
