    Wanted to add a comment. After watching this video I was really nervous about a project that I was already nervous about. This was the only option for my project and was the only HVLP sprayer that I could spray a large metal ceiling. I wanted to add that I must have been lucky but figured I'd share my settings as they worked excellent. I set my air compressor to about 44 psi. I left the regulator on the canister alone and regulated the paint flow with the red flow handle. Worked excellently. No leaks, no paint runs, no problems. One thing I would add is that the fan for this sprayer is huge!Anyhow I sprayed Rustoleum gloss white thinned with acetone 80/20. Worked perfect. Hope others have good luck and thanks for your review.

      Thanks for the info! It might give others something to try. The one shown in the video is not the HVLP version. I did purchase the HVLP version, item 93305 and it works fairly well. The fan on it is quite adjustable. I've been meaning to shoot a clip of it, but haven't found the time. Take care, G.

      That's cool This specific model diddn't work out for me. I did purchase their HVLP model shortly after posting this and it's worked well. I have 2 now and have posted a review on it comparing my old one vs. the new. Glad yours is working well for you. Take care, G.

    Just bought the 62895 which I believe is the updated version of this model. I'm painting my Cessna and was using the professional HVLP gravity feed pot which was doing a fantastic job once I figured out the settings I needed for the paint I was using. The problem was that it was extremely difficult to paint overhead under the fuselage and wings without losing prime or spilling paint out the cup. I bought this to eliminate those problems. This particular unit was on clearance because the box was damaged and I got it for $15 less 20%, so even if it's a dud, I'm not out much. I haven't used it yet but will leave a comment on how things went after I'm finished the project. If the gun leaks like yours did, I'll just screw the paint hose into the top of my gravity gun and adjust the paint pressure so that it's the same as gravity. My brain tells me this will work fine since I already know that the gun works perfect. My brain has rarely led me astray (not true about my other brain down there). :-/

      That's cool. I did buy their HVLP version of this setup (93305 which I believe has been replaced with the 62895) and have been satisfied with it. The gun is a bit sensitive, but works fine after getting it dialed in. I did add a regulator right at the gun though- that was my only upgrade. I run full line pressure to the pot inlet, and regulate the gun pressure to about 20-25psi while on the trigger. The pot pressure only gets about 3-5psi on the pot regulator (only enough to consistently push the material to the gun). That's the setup I use for latex, but should be a good place to start testing. By adding the regulator to the gun, It allows for a larger volume of air to it over turning down the inlet pressure to match the spraying pressure. HF used to sell real regulators for the guns, but have since changed them to basically a ball valve which don't work for spraying applications IMO. Here's a link to the style of regulator I'm using. Good luck with your project! G.

      Update: just finished the Cessna project and the pot and gun worked flawlessly. I was able to lay down a larger fan so the job was much faster. So much so that I used it on the entire plane for the second coat. Coupled with the fact that I was able to load more paint at a time made short work of it all.
      A word of caution... Try to maintain the same height difference between the gun and the pot once the setting are dialed in. When I had the gun a couple of feet below the pot and then moved it above the pot, there was a very noticeable change in the spray pattern.

    Any time you take the gun apart pull the trigger back and keep it pulled back when putting it back to gether if not you'll bend the needle every time and every gun you get will leak. I paint for a living and don't let helpers clean my personal equipment for that reasob

    Bought the exact same gun bout two yrs ago. I'm a fabricator and millwright, we paint nearly everything we build. Been spraying at least a gallon a week for a couple of years at the shop, plus I brought it home for personal projects a dozen times. Bought the updated model today and works flawlessly. I disassemble and Teflon everything b4 use of course. Price is now about $60 at my local Harbor Freight, and it has an additional fluid rate control on gun. You just need to be smarter than what your working with 🤔

    • @ghostses
      @ghostses  6 лет назад +1

      Past this review, I'd purchased the HVLP version 93305 (now it's 62895). It works just fine. Since you referenced about $60 for the one you just purchased, I can assume you have the HVLP version 62895. The one shown in the video is model 93305 (now model 93312) and is about $45 now. I can assure you, I am smarter than what I'm working with- especially with knowing the model I'm working with. Are you? G.

      I hadn't looked for any videos, I've painted so much stuff I don't really remember learning. I always get me a huge piece of cardboard and set my gun paint Flow and air pressure, figure my hold distance, travel speed and tip adjustment. Clean surfaces are a must unless your just preventing rust on an old tractor. Long steady strokes, start and release the trigger while in motion helps stop spotting and runs... Good luck Sir.....

    • @hillbillydranyam7915
      @hillbillydranyam7915 Год назад +1

      @Chase Williams Disassemble and apply Teflon to all fittings for air and fluid, the trigger rod and plunger I grease with Vaseline. I've found this prevents alot of trigger hang and make clean up a breeze. I spray the entire paint pot and gun with WD40, overspray and spillage wipes off so much easier. I'm just an old Hillbilly making a living fabricating and painting using methods I've learned 30 years ago, I'm sure better ways exist I haven't discovered. I'm always looking for new practices to save time and money so hit me back with any methods you find work well.

    Possible to hook up a paint pressure pot to an LVLP sprayer? Want to use an LVLP sprayer to paint my house (due to my air compressor) but am worried about having to constantly refill the tiny paint cups on the LVLP sprayers.

    • @ghostses
      @ghostses  3 года назад

      I'm not sure about a gravity fed LVLP Thomas- if that's what you're asking. This setup is the one I sent back and can't find them now on their site. I wen't with their HVLP version and have had great success with it.
      Here's that video:
      ruclips.net/video/55gJvBAzf4s/видео.html
      HF does sell a 2.5gal paint tank and I believe either of these setups would work with no modifications.
      www.harborfreight.com/2-1-2-half-gallon-pressure-paint-tank-66839.html
      Hoses might be a problem since these aren't that long- especially with using a 2.5gal tank. I thought they used to sell long hoses, but can't seem to find them on their site.
      Hope this helps, G.

      +pjsalchemy No problem PJ! The store is about a 2 mile round trip out of my way between here and the reno house so it didn't bother me too bad. I really wanted it to work out, but you're right- my time is more valuable. Too true, way too many variables on this one. They should get the message at some point and put out a better version. They've been quite good at this lately so the brand is growing up! Good luck, G.

      The first pot I had worked great Jesse. Not good to hear, but good to know your gun had problems as well. I've seen the kit with the longer hoses. Good to know you're satisfied with it. I did purchase their HVLP version of this kit and have been pleased with it. Other than having to adjust the needle packing from time to time, it shoots nice and the pot works great. The pot is the first version as I had with these kits, so folks mileage may vary. Does your pot have a brass, or chrome plated pressure release valve? Mines brass. Take care, G.

    Great review! Thanks! Am currently shopping for a sprayer and see from the comments you went with the HVLP #62895 at Harbor Freight and have been happy with it. That sprayer appeals to me for the larger cup/pot size as the projects I'm tackling this year are the basement and exterior of my house (larger pot, less time spent stopping to refill). However, after those big projects, I'm excited to use a sprayer to paint LOTS of furniture projects. So a smaller pot would also be nice. So here's my question: Can the #62895 be used with an attached, smaller cup/pot as well? I realize it doesn't come with the unit initially. I'm fine with buying different attachments as needed. Any recommendations or suggestions for other HVLP units you have would be appreciated! I'm still in the research phase :) Thanks in advance!

    • @ghostses
      @ghostses  7 лет назад

      Thanks Lauren! For the larger jobs, like the exterior of your house and basement walls/trim, an airless sprayer would make short work of them. I know HF sells one, but have no knowledge of it. I have a Graco setup I use for big projects. But, if that's pretty much the extent of your large jobs, this sprayer will do it but will take some time. One thing to consider is the size of compressor you will be using. With that much real estate to cover, you may spend the majority of your time waiting on the compressor and you might loose the wet edge while doing so. While I do have a 60gal 5hp compressor, all of the projects I've done with this gun have been done with the HF 21gal compressor. For cabinet doors, it kept up pretty good, but for the cabinets I painted I did have to wait from time to time. Just something else to take into consideration.
      In my opinion, this unit really shines with it comes to cabinetry. You can shoot in any direction and it can fit into relativity small compartments. Plus it works better than gravity feed guns when shooting thicker materials since it's a pressure pot- latex for example. I "think" I set my regulator to 3-5psi on the pot for latex. I also shoot shellac based BIN primer with this setup but probably use about 1-2psi since it's thinner. I've added a regulator right at the gun. I run full line pressure to the inlet, set the pressure on the pot to my liking, then set the regulator on the gun to about 20-25psi while on the trigger. With this setup, the volume of air isn't compromised like it would be by regulating at the compressor, and it atomizes better. I hope that makes some sort of sense....lol.
      I've never seen a smaller pressure pot, but that by no means indicate they don't exist. I can say the 64oz pot isn't hard to deal with, and the cleaning time would be about the same regardless of pot size. It does take time to clean everything up though. With that said, I do use gravity fed HVLP guns. Mostly for stains or thinner materials. The guns are quicker to cleanup. I got mine from Woodcraft, but don't know if they still carry them. I do have the HF purple gun everyone seems to rave about, but have never used it. They can be had sometimes for about $10 but don't come with the wrench for disassembly.
      A little long, but hope it helps in some way. Good luck, G.

    You've mentioned them improving things over time, and I agree. The tools they had 5 years ago that were junk are now decent, and considering EVERY ITEM in Sears (Craftsman, my personal favorite brand to buy) is Chinese, if you're lucky its made in Taiwan, the playing field is really evening. When everything is made in China and it's useable by your average homeowner I think it'll slowly turn Harbor Freight into a reputable store.
    I do photography for various car dealerships and as such I talk with the touch up guys on some of the lots, they've all told me that if you don't own something like a $300 to $500 sprayer (obviously for car paint finish) you're asking for orange peel, over/under spray, paint leaking on your hand, premature failure etc. Unfortunately it looks to me like compressed air sprayers are one of those things you have to pay a premium for or it just doesn't work well. On that note he actually told me he's used the $15 electric sprayer from Harbor Freight, not for cars though lol... he said it does a pretty good job which surprised me. I think my father in law bought one and used it as well for a couple projects, he said the paint and time you save made it more than worth it.

    • @ghostses
      @ghostses  9 лет назад

      +Jesse Crandle That's true Jesse- every word!
      I have a couple of HVLP sprayers and get good results from them. Granted, I'm not painting cars- but get good results from them and they were purchased from an inexpensive train- not HF though but Woodcraft. I do have to fiddle with them a little- but overall they work great. But yes, anyone doing auto painting for a living will probably use the higher priced sprayers. My brother-in-law owns a body shop and I've seen his/their gear. It's some pretty nice stuff.
      It's all about production for them, with a little brand pride thrown, but I'm sure it's worth the cash.
      I've never used high end paint gear but give me a rattle can and some time and I can throw out a great finish...lol.
      Take care, G.

    Thanks for making this video but has anyone made a video showing how to set it up and use it? and if not Can anyone point me to a video showing me how to set everything up, I would love to learn how to use it? I got this system for father's day 2019 and now id like to paint the outside of my garage with it, but I don't know how to use it. and is it true you have to thin the paint to be able to use it? and while I'm asking could anyone make a video on how to clean it too, I'm really excited to learn how to use it. thanks, everyone.

      Ralph, this model is the setup I returned. I'd since purchased their HVLP version, used it for a couple of years, and purchased another one. Here is a link for that review. It's not this setup- but you might find it helpful in some way. Good luck, G.

    I bought it 2 days ago and it worked perfectly. I painted my whole house from outside. There is no leakage from nozzle you need to adjust it. I also thought it is leakage then when I spent some time to adjust it worked flawless. You can keep on returning and you will find same issue because you do not know how to configure it

    • @ghostses
      @ghostses  7 лет назад

      Perhaps they fixed something along the way. Even adjusting the packing nut on these would not correct the problems. I did go with their HVLP version of this setup and it works great for me. Good luck, G.

    That gun is trash. The newer one with the blue gun is good. Only modifications I had to make is removing the lock ring from the regulator knob so I could get pressure past 40 psi. Take the gun apart and tighten everything up and lube it with floetrol as well as the pot gasket... I spray latex right out of the can with it and it works great. It does create a lot of over spray and the fact that it only has the one regulator makes it a little tricky to dial in.. but as long as you use a large compressor with a 3/8" hose.. it gets the volume it needs to properly atomize the paint and create a consistent pattern.

      @ghostses  5 лет назад

      Good tips Shawn. I did get the model you're referring to- two actually now. It's turned out to be a great unit. I run a regulator at the gun itself. I've done a review sometime back that you might like to check out. Thanks for the post and good luck, G.

    Usually people are full of crap when they review tools from Harbor Freight. But, when you say a tool isn't good, I know its not worth trying. Often Harbor Freights stuff is crap, but not always. They have some gems that are bargains..

    • @ghostses
      @ghostses  9 лет назад +1

      +gjdewald I agree, you can't just give them a blanket statement that they're all crap because they aren't. Some are for sure, but the gems are what I look for! I can usually work around any of their shortcomings, but this thing was in a league of it's own...lol.
      I think many blindly purchase something without understanding what makes something good, bad, or workable. Take care, G.

      +Dev Ogle LOL! I am Dev. I don't take defeat lightly...lol. Do stay away from this one. They have an HVLP version of it as well (93305), but I don't know if I want to try it out. Everything looks to be the same aside from the gun. Take care, G.

    Looks like I'll be dropping some serious cash for a good spray gun. No sense buying cheap shit lol. Harbor freight has a few tools that aren't bad. The pole saw is my favorite one. Their grinders on the other hand are junk.

    • @ghostses
      @ghostses  7 лет назад

      Yeah Steven, this one didn't work out for me. I did purchase their HVLP version of this (93305) and it works pretty good. The gun is a little fickle, but the pot works great. In the future, I plan on upgrading the gun. I've been satisfied with the majority of my purchases, even though I need to mod or correct some things. A fair exchange considering their cost. I have heard good things about the pole saw. If I didn't already have one, I'd try one out. Take care, G.
