I love this scene. So many movies have a guy chasing a girl, but very few explain why or how that girl enriches that guy's life. In under two minutes, she changes Rob from a disenchanted former DJ into a guy who is actively living the dream. She turns his life around in this scene and he knows it.
This is the scene that really shows you how Laura makes him a better person. In one short conversation, she gives him a sense of accomplishment that he didn't have before. For a guy like Rob, that's not an easy thing to do.
That's kinda of the point of the scene, He doesn't know the good things he has, sets up unrealistic expectations and is depressed that he cant have those.
