I'm not sure why other window fans have become such pieces of garbage ruclips.net/user/postUgkxGjG43--gYqIoT4Xkur2PqCrtbKwTv2h6 but this one definitely is nice. It's quiet, it has buttons for different functions that you generally don't have to keep pressing over and over again like some of the others, and the remote is a nice feature. Still, button simplification could go further to single functions for each and every one, but it's decent enough. It's a very quiet fan, the quietest window fan that I have ever had, and that alone is worth the extra money over the cheaper ones.
THANK YOU! My other box fan unscrews and cleans so easily but trying to get into this one was like trying to do a rubik's cube blindfolded. You were a big help.
This was hugely helpful. The Genesis 20-inch box fan that's sold on Amazon is exactly the same design. We would not have figured out how to disassemble it without this video.
Thank you sooooooooo much. I have been trying to figure out how to take my super dusty and caked up lint fan apart. It has been driving me bonkers and I have been using long handle wood Q tips to get inside each blade, and it takes foreverrrrrrrr. Thanks so much for your time and showing how it, I was about to chunk the fan.
Thanks so much, I found a pretty new Pelonis fan, same as this but white color. Had some tape on it. Watching your video I was able to open it, the hardest part are those snaps on top, as you show, you need to push down in those two places on top, I found that using a flat head screwdriver and sticking it into those two square snaps, easily releases them, easier than by pushing with your fingers and trying to pry it apart, it just instantly separates it as soon as you get the screwdriver pushed in, then you can just wrangle it all out of the side/sides.
The top tabs have given me such a hard time in the past. I was worried I might snap them off. I'm so excited I was finally able to fully clean my fan 😅
Thank you for making this video, now i know how to take my fan apart without breaking it! For those who may not know, this fan is identical to the Pelonis brand of 20 in. box fan, sold at Lowes, and they are pretty decent fans! Thanks again,

2/13/2020 USA Grandpa Bill mk: THANK YOU. Like everyone else, I've struggled with this box fan. Your disassembly got me back on track. Now I can clean the blades. Thank you! Just used ur video to help clean my fan. At first, i was like, why is there tape on the sides? Lol. But my roomate took his knife to take the knob off. Took him 0.5 seconds lol. But thank you for showing how it comes apart.❤
That’s great. I had to look through six dumbasses, wanting to show me how a fan works and how to take one out of a box. I guess there’s people out there that maybe don’t know how to take a pan out of a box and turn it on. I just didn’t want to break the fan, taking it apart to clean it. Normally, I just sprayed them down with the hose and let them dry for three days. But it got hot pretty quick and I wanted to be able to use it tonight. 👍
I have a Hurricane box fan made by the same company as the Mainstays fan in your video. Could not figure out how to get mine apart, and couldn't find any info online how to do it. Grazie mille for your video!
Thank you for this video, I couldn’t figure it out. I do need to clean both sides. Is there a way to clean the back side as well? I do like the softer white noise it puts out, however if I can not clean both sides then I will have to buy another kind. Thank you for any information you may have as to how to remove and clean the back.
As a Lasko box fan owner, this is a much better design. Esp. how the blade is secured with a nut, and not all the little self-tapping screws I have to remove to get the grilles and/or motor out. Midea makes their stuff, and IMO they are top notch. They made my little space heater too, and it is quality.
If you want to dissassmble a hurricane fan start with the same knob, screw, and pull from the bottom procedure then go around the edges and pry with a butter knife. The top will be the hardest but it will come free . Good luck happy cleaning
OMG thank you. I swear I thought I just broke mine. I don't like how I can't take the back off to clean it. Can't we just go back to 6 screws in front and back and boom, clean your fan? lol.
Thanks dawg, I figured it out myself but didn't realize I needed so much force to slide it off from the top, ended up thinking I was doing it wrong lol.
Thanks, I was about to start cutting into this thing to get it open. Interesting that my fan is the same but under a different name, Genesis 20" Box Fan. Maybe it has a different name depending on where you bought it.

Thank you for posting this. It also works for a Utilitech brand that is exactly the same but comes in white and I think we got it from Lowe’s
You are welcome! Thanks for the heads up, I'll add that to the list. :)
Thank for making this video could not have done this without you. I’m very grateful. This also works with the Pelonis brand which is what I have
You're welcome. So glad it helped!
Thank you very much, I was ready to use percussive maintenance I was so frustrated, you are the man.
Haha, yes sometimes Mr Sledge is called in out of frustration. So glad that wasn't the case here and you were able to have a positive outcome. 🙂
Thanks for sharing this. Me and my friend are like no flipping way. We can't clean this!
🤣🤣 It's clean thanks to that video!😎
@@tammylovescats now that's cool. Way to go!
Thank you so much for taking the time to figure this fan out. And for making this video!!! This has been a huge help. :)
You're very welcome!
I struggled for 15 minutes and then decided to resort to YT. Thanks a lot. I have EXACT same fan.
So glad this helped?
That’s great. I had to look through six dumbasses, wanting to show me how a fan works and how to take one out of a box.
I guess there’s people out there that maybe don’t know how to take a pan out of a box and turn it on.
I just didn’t want to break the fan, taking it apart to clean it.
Normally, I just sprayed them down with the hose and let them dry for three days. But it got hot pretty quick and I wanted to be able to use it tonight.
👍
So glad it worked for you. All the best
Thank you so much! This video helped me clean my Polar Wind box fan! Same design!
So awesome. Glad you were successfull!
Thanks so much! I used this to clean the Pelonis fan which is exactly like that one. 🙏
That's fantastic! Thanks for leaving the comment and all the best to you Robert.
Omg thank you for posting this. I couldn’t figure out for the life of me. I thought I was going to break it.
So glad you were able to get it done!
Thanks, this video was just what I needed!
Awesome! Made it worth my time then! All the best.
So glad this helped!
Thanks for this!! We have had ours sitting there useless because we couldn't figure out how to do this! 🤷♀️
So glad you got it! All the best to you .
I have a Hurricane box fan made by the same company as the Mainstays fan in your video. Could not figure out how to get mine apart, and couldn't find any info online how to do it. Grazie mille for your video!
You're welcome! So glad you got it.
Thank you very much! I was able to clean my fan. Now it works like new! Thanx again!!!
That's fantastic! Way to go. 👍
Omgosh, thanks.. I’ve been at this for at least an hour! Lol
Glad you got it figured out! All the best to you.
Ohhhh i was wondering how do i take apart my fan and thanks to you i am able to thank you so much
I'm so glad it helped!
thanks for the tutorial i couldn't figure out how to open the damn thing today
You're welcome! So glad you got it figured out
Thanks for this - save me a lot of trouble!
So glad!
So glad this helped!
Great question! I'll take a look at mine and get back to you. :)
You can clean the other side of the blades by taking a damp cloth and reaching around the underside of them and wiping them clean. Hope this helps!
Glad it works for you! Others have had great difficulty, hence the need for this video.
Thank you so much! I thought i was going to have to toss it because it was so dirty! Thank you!
@@sharirawsthorne3465 That's fantastic you were able to save it from landfill and from buying another! Wtg!
Thanks man! 💗 I understand why there were so many "destroy" videos when I looked this up. I still ended up breaking a couple of the plastic pieces. 🙄
Haha, I did too but it still works and it's clean!! All the best.
If you want to dissassmble a hurricane fan start with the same knob, screw, and pull from the bottom procedure then go around the edges and pry with a butter knife. The top will be the hardest but it will come free . Good luck happy cleaning
Thanks for sharing! I'm sure that will help many people
Excellent video, if it wasn't for you I probably would have broken the fan trying to get it apart. Thank you.
So glad it helped!
Thank you for the video!! Saved me some money. I was so close to buying another one haha
Yeah man. Another saved from the landfill.
Thank you so much I could not figure this out thought I had to break this to clean it. Runs like new took ten minutes
So awesome. Glad this worked for you!
OMG thank you. I swear I thought I just broke mine. I don't like how I can't take the back off to clean it. Can't we just go back to 6 screws in front and back and boom, clean your fan? lol.
I know, right? You're welcome and glad you got it clean!
I know, right? You're welcome and glad you got it clean!
Amen!
Thanks dawg, I figured it out myself but didn't realize I needed so much force to slide it off from the top, ended up thinking I was doing it wrong lol.
Glad you're able to get it! Sometimes one little piece of information makes a world of difference. Well done
Thank you for this, even with your video this was a nightmare to take apart. I'm giving it to a friend and buying something else.
Thanks for the reply- I can understand. All the best to you
thank you so much finaly give my fan a good clean with out having a trouble to clean inside.
So glad you were able to get it clean!
Thanks, I was about to start cutting into this thing to get it open. Interesting that my fan is the same but under a different name, Genesis 20" Box Fan. Maybe it has a different name depending on where you bought it.
Yeah man. I'll add that name to the list so when people search, this will come up. All the best to you, merry Christmas, and stay cool.
Fantastic video. If not for the tip about the knob, I likely would've broken the damn thing lol. Thank you.
So glad this helped you out. You're welcome. 🙂
