I bought my 2015 Toyota Highlander XLE v6 in January of 2015. It is almost July. I have 270 miles on it. There were absolutely no problems with the vehicle. It ran flawlessly. The problem? In a word, fatigue. Noise fatigue. I can't believe how much tire noise comes from those Bridgestone Duellers. I was thinking maybe I should have bought a Lexus for quietness? It isn't necessary. My old 2004 Dodge Ram pickup with Silent Armor tires (105,000mi) is way quieter than my Toyota. My 1999 Mercury Marquis with Continental tires is even quieter than my truck. Lesson learned. Rent one for a week before deciding to buy and drive on all types of roads.

The engine sounds like it is going to EXPLODE or like there is a HOLE IN THE MUFFLER. One of the LOUDEST and MOST UNREFINED, LOUD EXHAUSTS I have come across. I was under the impression that this level of LACK OF REFINEMENT and NOISE from the exhaust was only in the Lexus RX 350, but it seems that it is MUCH WORSE in this Highlander. Disgusting and pathetic. That unrefined POS is LOUDER and sounds worse than some 4 cylinder engines. Only an certified idiot would spend that much money to buy something that sounds like a 20 year old Ford Pinto with a broken muffler **rollseyes**

That is exactly why Toyota can get away with this! ....But most reviewers tend to make all sorts of FALSE claims about vehicles, using hyperbole that is simply NOT TRUE like saying it is SO REFINED, QUIET AND SMOOTH etc. This gives prospective buyers completely inaccurate info. Normally, I would NEVER go for a 4-cylinder model when the choice of a V6 exists (mainly because I want a much SMOOTHER, QUIETER and REFINED engine). But in this case, because the V6 is so horrendous, it is a total waste of money, and the 4 cylinder model is a much better choice, if you don't have to tow.
