Jimmy you nailed it. Back pain, worn out knees, broken fingers and toes, still have a steel plate and screws in my left hand from stopping a shot at goal from a corner. Just add freezing cold and occasional snow, at night, for places in central tablelands
My son played hockey for 12 years. This is alarmingly accurate. Hope you have sorted out the fastest route to the 24 hour medical clinic and decided who is going to do the Friday night run to the other end of the city to stand on the side of a field that is colder than a Antarctic winter with rain coming at you sideways to cheer the team on as they lose 14-0 to little shts who all play for a private school😃. And look forward to: egg sized knocks to the head, teeth knocked out of place, dislocated knees and collar bones, broken toes from 'accidental stomping' by studs and a whole lot of driving to far flung suburbs you never knew existed only discover the game was forfeited/ moved to the opposite side of town/ started an hour earlier than you thought...🏑 Have fun😂
I rarely feel as Swedish as I do now. I made it to 35 seconds before I realised it's field hockey, not ice hockey 😂 And even then it's because I got thinking "there's no grass in hockey oh wait a minute 🤔😅"

Still my favourite sport I ever played, our school though only had one set of Lunatic Gear, so in practice games and weekly sport we had 'kicking backs', who were a normal defender acting as a Lunatic, and could use their feet to block or kick the skee ball... yeah, it hurt.
@cheerydog6785 I'd have a training run wearing cricket pads first. See how you feel. Also, get the kids to simultaneously throw golf balls at your legs, arms and back - just to test the old pain threshold. Should be good to go 😳
In ice hockey there'll be a professional boxer on each team who will periodically throw off their gloves and beat up the other team's boxer. Oh, ho ho, no, they're not allowed to violate the rules. Yes, I know one of the rules is not to beat up the other players, but that's what they're gonna do and they'll be punished for it. They have go sit in a box and watch the game like a wealthy spectator with amazing seats.
As someone who was a left-handed (pretty bad) goalie this is a true description. I always thought playing on turf took out half the fun, playing on a country town grass field and seeing a nice hit go completely the wrong direction when it hit a divot was awesome.

Everywhere outside of NA it is called Hockey , as indicated by the world governing body - FIH = Féderation International de Hockey The world governing body for your beloved sport is called - IIHF = International *Ice Hockey* Federation I personally always differentiate by explicitly saying/writing either Field Hockey or Ice Hockey P.S. since getting into FUTSAL i am now convinced it is the superior sport , does everything the two hockeys do and better , plus no need for expensive gear , an ice rink , an astronomical field turf , or all these other shenenigans - plus one can actually see the ball/object of intrigue ( not so much in ice hockey) Futsal not high scoring and rough enough and wanna play with your hands but unnecessarily add two more field players who use a sticky resin substance on their hands ? - check out HANDBALL

Strangely, Ice Hockey is played mostly left handed. About 60%-70% of NHL players play left handed.
